I shall celebrate this momentous occasion with my 200th post... *squats down and strains* LOOK WHAT I JUST MADE!

I'm in... As long as they do an English cockpit version! I draw the line at learning Russian!

Low RPM audio warning switch reversed when using autostart
howie87 replied to howie87's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes. I think it's designed this way so if you flip the switch to turn off the annoying bleeping while starting up, it automatically flips back on when the engine is up to speed in case you forget! Clever stuff. -
Yeah, the Typhoon is nice but come on... The spit is a classic!

I'm sure somebody has already said this, but the Hip is a great counterpart to the Huey and I'm sure Belsimtek will do a FANTASTIC job. I reluctantly bought the Huey in the sale and it has quickly become one of my favourite modules. I love the redundancy the second pilot provides and the relative simplicity of the avionics. It's incredibly well modelled and satisfying to fly. Following this experience I'm much more relaxed when hearing about whatever aircraft is in development, as you never know how much you'll enjoy it until you actually jump in the cockpit and give it a try. All of these DCS modules are labours of love and I'm just happy that developers are choosing to release such a wide variety of aircraft to suit all tastes. Thanks for all the hard work!

Yeah, my club has a warrior 2 and an archer 2. Think I'm gonna stick to the cheaper option though!

Exactly what Flamin squirrel said, just deadzone when changing the direction of the yoke from one way to the other. I've not noticed it on the rudder or elevators, just the ailerons. Probably a Cessna thing but wouldn't know as I've never flown anything else. Can make it tricky to make small, precise adjustments though. My local flying school has PA-28's for hire as well so I might give them a try. Also has a PA-34 and Cessna 182 but they're a bit out of my price range!
-
I'm not sure how the cyclic in a helicopter behaves but I fly a Cessna 152 and that has very noticeable dead zone due to slack in the cables. This might be eliminated in aircraft where hydraulic and fly by wire systems are incorporated though. Anyone in here flown a real chopper and want to chip in?

World BS english RICARDO HD Blue pit
howie87 replied to RICARDO's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I'd love to see ED make this the default BS2 pit. Kinda annoying there's so much great content available that we have to jump through hoops to install. I've stopped bothering with mods due to all the updates coming out for DCS world. Wish the black shark would get some more love though :( -
Does look a little funky in the video (like the transition should be smoother) but I've never noticed it in game. I'll try it tonight. Huey is still beta though so maybe the ground effect/translational lift interaction hasn't been tweaked properly yet.

Doubt it but it sure would be nice to hear something. I think Wags knows better than to get us all excited though... We're already a weird bunch!

Does the A-10A have PAC IRL? I noticed the cockpit has SAS switches... Kinda hate SAS when trying to shoot down aircraft in the A-10C though. Have to remember to flip the gun arm switch the other way!

Would you want/ allow flyable civilian aircraft in DCS
howie87 replied to Kroll's topic in DCS Wishlist
Yeah, I've been flying it a lot recently. Helped with learning concepts like P-factor and how to handle a tail dragger. Great sim. -

Seeing as I've just started taking lessons for my PPL... Yes! Cessna 152 please - queen of the sky! ;) -
Even if the B-17's are only AI it's still great. Bring on the escort missions!

Assigning commands to TM Warthog toggle switches/buttons.
howie87 replied to davedontmind's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I used LUA script editing to do mine. Kinda annoying that it doesn't sync properly with the route/decent mode switch set as the speed brake on my TM warthog though. Still, it's an easy fix (just hold the speed brake aft and when you release it, it will sync in game and on your throttle) You can only program it to send the 'route mode' command as a toggle command instead of specifying on or off. The decent mode is programmed to activate only when a button is held down and stop when it is released. I wish buttons could easily be set to operate this way from the in game options... Would make configuring toggle switches a breeze. I found this thread helped a lot and explained some of the shortcomings of LUA editing with the KA50. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89226 -
Are you happy with your thrustmaster warthog
howie87 replied to con3para's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I love mine except for two small issues. Slight play in the centre of the stick and a wobbly feeling China hat (quite a lot of resistance when pushed forward/aft and feels like it's going to break but it's held up for over 6 months of heavy use so it's obviously sturdier than it feels). -
Low RPM audio warning switch reversed when using autostart
howie87 replied to howie87's topic in Bugs and Problems
I'm bumping this as a bug because I keep seeing it and it keeps annoying me! -
Flying online today against a buddy in the A-10A and he was near indestructible! I blew both his wings off and he kept on flying like nothing had happened even though he looked like a pile of burning scrap metal. For saying this has been released a a complete stand alone module for $15, it's pretty shoddy. This needs fixing ASAP.

I think when this kind of technology takes off, it will definitely happen. I can't imagine anything more awesome than 360°, 3D, 6DOF, HD head tracking with a friend in the same Huey as the co-pilot :D Screw the keyboard. That's why we have a HOTAS and fully clickable cockpits. It's pretty easy to find a mouse with your eyes closed... Try it, you'll be surprised.

26 here... Same as Pyton and weirdly with the same Dutch F-16 as my profile picture. I have a feeling we'd get on!
