Thanks for the update and it's a shame that the announcements are delayed, i would logically assume that would also push the two unannounced modules past a late 2015 release date to sometime™ in 2016?

First of all, let me stress the fact that despite me being a swede and that Viggen is my favourite plane of all time due to me seeing it growing up alot i would want F-16C and F-15E MORE then a Viggen in DCS, and i would equally buy a F-4E with functioning multi-seat with no doubt. Viggen is equal or superior in capability to an F-4E, while the F-4E holds the multi-role card better. Viggen is not multi-role at all. Viggen is in many ways an even better opponent to a MiG-21Bis, becouse they were stationed in the same area (Baltic Sea) during the same timeframe. The only F-4's intercepting MiG-21Bis was West German ones which still did less interceptions over the Baltic then we did, becouse well they were mostly focused on their own frontier with DDR. F-16C and F-15E is both proper multi-roles with very advanced systems akin to A-10C and is a huge undertaking for any developer. I think the first true multi-role we will see is ED's F/A-18C (which im really looking forward too)

Glad to see an American somewhat interested in the Viggen, it may not have the best combat record (or any at all) but it was an instrumental aircraft of the cold war that intercepted more Soviet planes and ships then most people can imagine. Lets just say the Baltic Sea was "fairly" active in the cold war.

That wouldn't really apply to us now would it? We have no responsability to keep quiet, on the contrary we are encouraged to speculate and to find and analyse clues. When this post was actually written i don't think it meant anything but together with the clues that has been released plus some other stuff if you put two and two together you get an answer. It's not like i wasnt 99.9 % sure it was the Viggen anyway before, for me it hasn't changed anything. (Not very likely) Early era ground pounder: Dumb bombs, rockets, RB-04 anti-ship missiles, RB-05 "joystick guided" ASM, AIM-4, AIM-9B capability. Mid era ground pounder: ^ plus RB-05 replaced with Mavericks and added AIM-9P capability. Late era ground pounder: Added BK-90 standoff cluster bomb and RBS-15 anti-ship capability, better RWR, capability of carrying 6 AIM-9's as opposed to 2.

It is true that he says that "Our Viggen is up in the 3rd edition, possibly will be a 4th" but he doesn't say who "we" is nor does he have a nickname that is guaranteed to be in the leatherneck team. Correct me if i am wrong? If anybody else is wondering, the rest of the post is just him giving advice of how to approach 3D modelling a plane and to take loads of reference pictures. He mentions that he has over 2000! photographs that he took of a Viggen which would indeed suggest that its something professional.

Welcome to the Forums! I am not 100 % sure on this, but i think Leatherneck stated that "It would be logical to make a MiG-23 in the future, as the code base it shares with the MiG-21 is upwards to 70 %, but it will NOT be our next module" And yes, russians do really need some love.

Well i know these planes by heart, and is very confident in using them in combat PVP or PVE. Mi-8MTV MiG-21Bis F-15C Su-27 Su-33 (Waiting for PFM however) MiG-29 (Ditto) Su-25T So not that many full blown modules :-)

As the title says, im curious as to which part of our existing map would be considering the highest detail. I tried to search this forum but no such luck, and i do know that atleast parts of the north-east is extremly low fidelity. Thanks in advance, Skjold.

EDGE... As great as DCS is it badly needs a cosmetic improvement but as a very close second the new editor options for mission makers.

Each to his own, im not gonna preach about why a certain plane should be in or not in the game and other then anti-ship missile capability the Viggen wouldn't add anything unique to the game at least until the Hornet has finished baking in the oven. But what relevance does combat record/service of planes have? A Viggen may have never fired a shot in anger but considering the airspace it was policing during the cold war it has done thousands of interceptions of WP, USSR and NATO airplanes.

I would take any of them short of the Alouette II.

Roughly a week left of September, announcement ahoy!? As far as i know, no. It can carry an assortment of unguided rockets, dumb bombs, joystick guided missiles (secondary joystick in cockpit in the old AJ-37 model), mavericks, anti-ship missiles and newest ground attack (AJS-37) variants can carry stand-off (50ish km) gliding cluster bombs and both AJ and AJS should carry AIM-9's but no radar guided air-to-air. Edit: JA-37 can carry AIM-9's and Skyflash missiles, with the newest variant capable carry AIM-120's. Only about 1 ½ squadron upgraded as a temporary measure while waiting for the Gripen to enter full blown service

Well, the most likely reason to attack Denmark and Sweden is to deny the opposition to the strait, not themselves to use it. Securing their northern flank for a ground offensive in Germany was also quite important. You are absolutly right however, the Soviet Baltic Fleet is just that.. a Baltic fleet. Thread is completly off topic, so i'm gonna guess that the next plane is a SAAB 210 "Lill Draken" (Little Dragon) And no, i'm not serious.

Cool, might pre-order it closer to release! It's quite a bit away now, no hurry to throw money at the screen. Now if i could play on the map today, that would be a completly different matter.
