  1. I'll post a through the lens of P5K+. I can spot a pair if A10s or F15's from 5 and 10 miles out. I have a test track that I use to see the meatball etc. So the Reverb will do better, I'm guessing.
  2. I'm sure it wouldn't have happened in the native Chinese version of the deck. I care much more about the gimbal design and throw of the throttles and the feel of the buttons/triggers, and the software design. As a non-native English speaker (I came to the US when I was 14) who had to go through English as a second language class, I have more tolerance for foreigners making typos in a language that's not native to them.
  3. I would not recommend using VR for mission planner. Which means I also would not recommend PointCTRL. It's not that you can't do it, because you can, but the real strength of PointCTRL is interacting with the cockpit.
  4. Wow....looks fantastic. With hints of allowing mods for F16 (I think).

I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't saying they were vectored to a UFO. They were vectored to take a look. That's going on what the pilot said on the podcast and news reports. Look, I'm a believer of extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. The level of "what is extraordinary evidence" is what is in question here. I'm a tainted witness because in high school, in the deserts of Yuma Arizona, 4 of us saw something that made no sense. I have no idea what it was, but it wasn't Marine/Air Force/Army aircraft. Because we don't have a planes that can fly that fast. But more than eye witnesses - notoriously inaccurate (hence the "tainted witness") I'm more impressed by NORAD and other ATC's reporting incredibly odd readings from multiple installations. Anyway, it is interesting where this is all going.

Because falling meteors or debris don't make course corrections or reverse directions.
  7. Think that one through. It'll come to you why that wouldn't have been effective. I'll give you a hint. People who post *outside* of the sticky is the problem. But others had actually had a *valid* point. Unless Oculus is a sub forum, it's probably too limiting. And i agree.
  8. That does look nice! Also, you have the fact that Oculus leads the pack when it comes to ATW, ASW, and now ASW 2 (even if DCS doesn't support the 2.0 yet).

Your forgetting the fact that surface ships picked it up for a week prior. And they were vectored to it. You're not going to be vectored due to a speck of dust. There's no more credible witness than professionals who are trained to pick up other aircrafts, with their lives on the line. And remember, there are "beeelions and beeeelions of stars" after all.

Another FA18 SH driver reported almost crashing into a UFO in 2014 (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/26/us/politics/ufo-sightings-navy-pilots.html) . With speeds that were not possible with current technology. And I believe it was the chief of staff of the Belgian Air Force that had a briefing. Two aircraft radars locked on as well as a ground radar. So clearly, it wasn't an equipment malfunction. That was a while ago. The tic tac was fascinating as well. So it seems like there's something.
  11. Yeah, I wouldn't mind the the SaaS model, honestly. I don't mind paying for good software. Hell, I just changed by lifelong perpetual license for Ultraedit to SaaS model. ED could have tiers. Cheaper ones where you can fly one plane at a time (some minimum per checkout) or a higher cost if you want to fly any and all aircraft. They can do something like "if you want to stay perpetual, you'll get X more major releases and that's that" I mean the A10 shader/cockpit upgrade is an upgrade right? Why should people expect it as a freebie just because *newer* planes like FA18 ships with it. After all, the tech wasn't available when A10C shipped. There was never a promise that planes will be updated in perpetuity. I'd rather pay to have ED stay around than not.
  12. LOL. the "what autumn" astrological, Gregorian calendar, Lunar calendar, the pagan calendar, the Vernal equinox? yada yada yada. LOL PTSD it is. In the meantime, I'll sick back and enjoy the F18/14, then wait for the A10 update, desperately pray the Huey will get some shader love, and by then, the F16 should be out.
  13. It's a huge concern. I know I cant use the CV1 anymore. And I never knew I had a problem with CV1 until P5K+ showed up. I'm hoping that I'll be shocked by the clarity that I won't mind. ShopBLT emailed an update and they think the Reverb will be in their warehouses on 6/4. Before, they didn't have a date. So maybe it is starting to ship. Let's hope. Thanks for the tip @Naruto.
  14. If you don't need PD of 1.5 or higher, it could make up for the overhead needed. And the boost of upcoming 2.5.5 release. Otherwise I guess 9900K is in the future for me. LOL. It's like a drug.
  15. That's a common misconception: that software has no COGs so it's 100% profit after it's written. But DCS has no assets other than programmers. I mean they have PCs, offices, utility bills, but the *bulk* of their liabilities is in the programmers. Everything else is in the G&A column. Someone has to maintain backward compatibility, someone has to keep up with patches, someone has to keep up with new shaders, someone has to keep up with making videos, someone has to link up with testers and collect feedback, someone to maintain this site, someone has to keep an eye on support tickets, someone has to keep track of Steam releases, someone has to draft contracts for 3rd party onboarding, someone has to market the product, and most importantly (:D) someone has to improve the product for VR. All those someone *IS* the raw material. There is no difference between lines of code, and sheets of wood, stack of metal, or buckets of concrete. They all cost money.
  16. I've had a few, I must admit. CV1, Vive, Odyssey, P5K+, and hopefully a Reverb soon. But I was really talking about betting on the Amazon, HP, or ShopBLT order. I chose shopblt and cancelled others. It would *KILL* me to see the others shipping before my choice. :D I'm child-like that way.
  17. Normandy was unplayable in VR for quite some time after it was released. It got better, but it's the least used map on my system as a result. And I too have every DLC and planes except for MiGs. But until I see some reviews of the Syria map in VR, I'll stay away. I can't use DCS w/o VR now and if it's anything like Normandy, I'll pass. Let's hope they can incorporate the changes that ED made to int Normandy and Syria maps.
  18. [quote=ricktoberfest;3927007--snippage-- Now if there was an oculus sub forum that might be different, but a sticky thread - no That's a fair point. I hadn't thought about that angle. how else would I get my point across? smoke signals? I'm also against picketing, but I don't know how to show it. (the great Mitch Hedberg)
  19. Nice. Let's see if I bet on the right horse.
  20. huh...subscription for iOS devices? So basically use it like a generic Helios on an IPad? Interesting.
  21. Subscription isn't a bad idea. But your logic doesn't make any sense to me. If you buy a 10 year old car, do you expect it to have the same features as a 2019 model car? And if your answer is "it's software so it's different" Then does MS Office from 2011 have the same features as modern Office? And if your answer is "but they are adding new feature" We're right back to paying for the textures. Someone above said "no way, it's should be free" But I can just as easily argue that adding new shaders *is* a new feature. But I do like yearly all you can eat SaaS license model. You could have different tier pricing. Interesting idea.
  22. The Rift is being chosen at the end of the week. I just sent the "winner" notification about an hour ago. I'll let him decide if he wants to come forward or not. Everyone that emailed me got the bcc'ed "sorry" email.
  23. As backspace340 said, anything that requires a PC will work so long as it uses Oculus drivers, Steam/Vive, or Windows Mixed Reality. Things that run on mobile phones, or standalone (don't need a computer) VR systems will not work. So that includes VRs for PS4, Xbox, etc.
  24. glad it's working!
  25. Yup, my mistake. My mind read it as "jumped in F14, need guide" LOL
