  1. @BIGNEWY - You are amazing! Thanks for the patience and massive assistance here. New computer here and I copied my DCS saved games folder from a backup drive so I didn't loose any missions. In the process, the backup had all sorts of mods in it that I hadn't even thought were there. Therein lied my issue. While I thought there were no mods installed, there were remnants of mods out there hiding in that restored saved games folder. Once I physically removed (deleted) from my saved games, all is well. Validated by starting other missions and by restarting DCS just to make sure. BN, you rock! Thank you for being here for us -- even when we make really stupid mistakes. Not sure this thread needs to stay around (your call). It definitely serves as illustration on "user" errors introducing strange DCS behavior.
  2. @BIGNEWY It did NOT fix it. Strange that that particular file was in the base scripts folder. Wouldn't a repair have removed that? Makes me wonder what other issues might be out there. I installed 2.7 and it runs fine. Attaching the latest DCS.Log dcs.log
  3. @BIGNEWY Update for you and the team. I uninstalled the A10 Tank Killer and reinstalled. Ran the mission and the countermeasures loaded! Just like the image you posted. I was thrilled. THEN, I re-ran the mission just to make sure it was still working and no-joy. Back to empty countermeasures. This is bizarre behavior. dcs.log
  4. No mods. I have removed all of them as I thought that might be the issue, @BIGNEWY. Just ran it again, so the attached DCS log is up to date. I am thinking of removing the A10 and letting the installer - re-install. Thanks for helping me, BN!! dcs.log
  5. I am just now getting back into the Hog. Having a very strange issue, however. I hope this is a me problem. I can't get any countermeasures to load onto the jet. I have a very simple mission I created where I make sure there is Chaff and Flares onboard. Yet when I fly the mission I have zero flares and chaff. I am running NO mods and I just did a repair (slow) and searched for extra files. I am running the current OB (3306). I am attaching a track file of this mission where you can see there's no Chaff/Flare inventory onboard. Also noteworthy is I have the same experience with the countermeasures training mission too. Hopefully someone can suggest a solution. Tagging @BIGNEWY Thanks. NoCountermeasures.trk
  6. I flew this mission today. What a thrill. While this probably sounds corny, having the ability to perform during the most patriotic American holiday over the iconic Vegas strip (which I've been to many times) with fireworks and radio chatter thanking us, was one of those DCS experiences that I'll never forget. Thank you @baltic_dragon! o7
  7. Pretty cool! Thanks, @Hawkeye60
  8. This thread is simply amazing. @Blue73 the cockpit you've created through 3D printing is unreal. I have been looking for a Hornet UFC to print and your version is simply a work of art. Consider me yet another hungry fan looking for those STL's. Right now I am printing P51 components for me and 2 flying buddies from AuthentiKit and from what I can see, your attention to detail and design skills rival what Phil's done over on his site. I'm subscribed and will continue to follow your progress. Thanks for sharing pictures and committing to releasing STLs when you've got them in a place where you can do so.
  9. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to explain "how" to do it. I've wanted this ability for quite some time and just didn't know where to get the information. You always seem to have great information for us and share it in a manner that's easy to understand. THANK YOU!
  10. Hey @Rudel_chw how'd you get that mod description into OvGME? I'd like to do the same as it'll save me tons of time when trying to figure out what's what in my mod manager. Thanks!
  11. Oh, I am with you 100%. I have flown the Hornet/SuperCarrier almost exclusively the past 3 or so years and took the time to fully document the negative experience. Every time I trap I am reminded the FM is bugged (regardless of LSO grade). Nowadays, I just live with it. Maybe that makes me "part of the problem", I don't know. If ED asked me to review their backlog along with development estimates and value to the overall platform for each entry, I suspect I'd be choosing other tasks ahead of this particular bug like they have done over the years. But there's no doubt, as customers, we can be displeased with a lack of progress. There - my #forumtherapy for the day.
  12. Ahhhhh ... the ole ID-10-T error!!! You said it right in the description and I completely missed the point. Thanks for kindly pointing out my error. Looks great!!!
  13. @Minsky - thanks for this and all that you do for the community! Just checking in. I just loaded this today expecting a fairly significant change to the base carrier deck. Maybe I have improper expectations and therefore checking here. Doesn't the mod also darken the deck? (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3325364/#67887) Below are images I just grabbed from 2D passes over the supercarrier (taken from Bankler's excellent Case1 trainer). I can't really see any difference in the decks. Should I from this angle and alt (700 ish feet)? Base - No Mod Installed Mod Installed to Liveries in Saved Games I am running latest 2.8OB (33006) Thanks!!
  14. Well ... this issue goes back to May of 2021 for me (see OP). And I am fairly sure that @Stearmandriver (and others) reported it long before I did. It's really a shame that this bug is so darn hard to squash. At this point, I just don't pay attention to the LSO grades. I have heard the MOOSE Airboss routines are better suited to LSO scores if that's something that you're interested in trying out. At this point, I've simply told myself this isn't being addressed due to competition with other initiatives. Personally, I'm okay with that. IMHO, there are far bigger fish for ED to fry than fixing the Hornet FM around the boat.
  15. Good guess, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. Removed KneeboardBuilder, installed all the runtimes, rebooted and still have same error. Not the end of the world, I can manually manipulate the files. Thanks for trying, @Rudel_chw!
  16. Just coming here to post same thing. I have a new PC (Win11) and trying to set this up. Upon startup, there's a configuration window asking for folder locations. I establish them and the program restarts. Presents this error Will send this to their address as well.
  17. Thanks! Looking forward to seeing what people post.
  18. I didn't map anything in steam. If there's a way to unmap, great. I spent hours with the configuration tool trying to accomplish it but nothing worked. I'm am absolutely sure this is a "me issue" and there's a way to turn off xbox controller input into steam. Unfortunately, that process has escaped me (its not due to a lack of research). For now, I have sacrificed that button from the box. If you have a resource you can point me to that explains how to unmap the controller from Steam it'd be most appreciated. Thanks.
  19. Yeah - definitely an option. Thanks for that suggestion. I have pondered it, but honestly its low on the option list. After yesterday's frustration in trying to find a solution and seeing more Steam configurations screens than I care to admit, I think I have a compromise. It appears there's only one switch that triggers an overlay from Steam over DCS. Again, I have no idea why this is happening, but it appears this situation isn't prevalent across all implementations of a USB Zero Delay Encoders. I tested the box again and all other switches work without unintended consequences. So, while I am not giving up on getting a solution, I am going to sacrifice a button from the box and simply not use the offending plug. Not ideal, but better than simply throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I remain optimistic that someone out there has experienced this and has a solution. Searches over Steam's forum found only a couple of references to USB Zero Delay Encoder - none of which had a solution. Thanks.
  20. Crap ... not what I wanted to hear Yeah RSMapper is not even running. I did open a ticket with valve, but don't hold much hope for an answer. I am starting to lean towards OpenXR and trying to figure out why it runs 50% slower than SteamVR on my machine. OR ... I just scrap the box completely. I REALLY hate the thought of that, however, because its so darn cool. Thanks for the reply, @Pac-Man!
  21. For anyone wondering, I have tried all sorts of settings on SteamVR. Here's what's happening in DCS I don't have any controllers. I use a Pimax HMD. Here's the setting for SteamVR from Steam itself And the controller tab where I disable Steam input. And the Controller General Settings where I hid the USB device from Steam Yet ... when I start SteamVR (DCS starts it when I have VR turned on, I don't actually go into Steam and start SteamVR), it still "sees" the stinkin' USB controller! I am hoping there's someone out here who's built a button box like this and navigated through these waters already. I am reaching the end of my rope on this one. Thanks.
  22. NEWB Warning - this is my first post on this area of the forums and I am brand new to this subject. I stumbled on @Pac-Man (Overkill) button box video a couple weeks ago and decided to make one for myself. Here's the video for anyone interested. So I embarked on this journey and created my own version that ended up looking like this: Throughout my build I constantly checked to make sure the switches worked in DCS as I expected. I used RSMapper to make sure the proper keyboard entries were sent to DCS all is good there. I just went to test out VR as this is my main way of flying DCS. I get into the cockpit and start testing the switches and get to the last toggle (the one with the rubber cap) and when I flip it, the SteamVR Library comes up on my screen. So I figure by keybind for that switch triggered a Steam command instead of the DCS command. Long story short, I turned off RSMapper to prevent any keybinds from being sent from the box. BUT ... SteamVR still interprets the toggle switch as me wanting to start the Steam library. After messing around further, there are other buttons that activate different SteamVR options as well. I spent about and hour trying to get steam to IGNORE this USB Controller. Steam "sees" it as an XBOX controller which makes sense. Question to the experts here: How do I hide the controller from steamVR so my new button box doesn't trigger steamVR overlays when in DCS - or somehow prevent SteamVR from reacting to the buttons? Note: I prefer to avoid OpenXR, I've had nothing but trouble with it. Thanks.
  23. Thanks NineLine. 100% support that approach. Its good to know BIT is still a WIP. Bigger fish to fry at this point in time. Thanks for being there for the community.
  24. Thank you for this! This is one of those mods that I need but never knew it. Most appreciated! For those wondering, install in BASE game, not SAVED games.
