Poll for Civil Modules you would buy for DCS World
lmp replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS Wishlist
Under the poll it says: I don't know how 204 potential buyers and 99 cannon only guys add up to that ;) -
Thanks for the correction. Anyways... I modded it in ;)

Oh snap, totally forgot I was supposed to answer you, Lilkiki. Sorry! Anyways, here are some of my older posts regarding setting presets for the two radios: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2019797&postcount=4 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1951035&postcount=39 Some of the posters reported that the R-828 is no longer working as of now, but I didn't verify that so I don't know if it's correct.

Ooh, I think I noticed another change in the cockpit! From NS-23 to the newer NR-23 cannons on the reloading panel on the upper left side of the cockpit :).
-
Hehe, once an Apache shot me down with his gun when I was on final. Little bastard sneaked past my air defences and sniped me when I was least expecting it. I've had attack aircraft happily ignore their objectives to go hunt for an AWACS that strayed a little too close. I guess they don't want the fighter boys to have all the fun ;).

Leatherneck Simulations Monthly Update - January 2015
lmp replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Regarding the website: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2285080&postcount=199 -
Interesting. Thanks for keeping us informed :). Was there a lot of equipment changes during the production of MiG-15bis?

If you own the module, you'll find it in <Your DCS World Directory>\Mods\aircraft\MiG-21BIS\Doc -
BMP-2, Strela-1 and Strela-10 were all used in Poland. Photos in Polish markings: http://www.samolotypolskie.pl/samoloty/2488/126/9K31-9M31-Strzala-12 http://www.homa.republika.pl/zp/strzala_10m.htm http://pwm.org.pl/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=37037#p454455 BMD-1, BTR-80 and BTR-D were however never in service with the Polish Armed Forces. You can also remove Leopard 1 from the list. The only variants bought were 2A4 and 2A5.

- Su-25 wasn't in service with the Polish Air Force. - Su-17 wasn't either, but Su-22 is (is that close enough?). - The MiG-23 variant we had in service was the MF. - Ex-German MiG-29Gs are in service along with MiG-29As bought in the USSR and Czech Republic. - Yak-40. Otherwise I think you got the aircraft right. As for vehicles, add Leo 2A5 tanks, BMP-1 & 2, BRDM-2, MT LB, many of the older soviet AAAs and SAMs (Shilka, Neva, Osa, Kub, ZU-23-2, Strela-1), some of the trucks. Navy would include the OHP Frigate, Project 1241 missile boat, Kilo sub... Plenty stuff to choose from.

Preset channels worked last time I checked (which was many versions ago, so something may have gone wrong). Edit: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2019797&postcount=4

People are doing fine with the Su-27 and F-15 which both outrange the MiG-25 by a huge margin. The Foxbat has a lot of speed but not that much endurance. As for it not being fit to fight the current fighters, sure, it wouldn't be exactly fair but people are using ambush tactics in MiG-21s successfully. See: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=133804 . It's not for everyone, but being the underdog can be satisfying. The speed of the Foxbat will create opportunities. It worked in Iraq (well, better than the rest of the fighters they had), it'll work in DCS. I'd buy it. Especially if it came with an AI spy plane or two to intercept.

Different weapons on all stations. How to select?
lmp replied to Hoggorm's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I wonder if that's actually intended behavior or bug? -
This is surprising to me. If anything dropping the nose gear should make you less likely to lift off, because your angle of attack decreases. Dropping the tail prematurely in taildraggers has the effect you're describing (it's one of the few reasons why they're considered more challenging to fly), but dropping your nose in a tricycle gear aircraft should do the opposite. Are you sure you're not just bouncing on your main gear?
-
To be honest, I'd be very surprised if it worked anything like that. I expect you would need ground controllers (player or AI) to assign targets to interceptors, plot routes, guide the pilots into the rear hemisphere of their targets. It may be automated to a degree, but it's still 1970s Soviet electronics. Probably only a limited number of EWR/command centers could provide the guidance and you couldn't "plug and play" a Su-33, let alone have the pilot of that plane prioritize targets. Actually, does anybody here really KNOW how this system worked? What would an example interception look like from the side of the pilot and the ground controller?
-
Right, that could be another thing. I have the Saitek Throttle Quadrant which has a nice, long throw, so I can be quite precise with it. I'm not sure it would have been just as easy for me if it weren't the case.

For me the Hip is the easiest helicopter to fly, I love the stability. I certainly crashed it a lot less than the Huey, but I had more experience when I picked it up, so that may be the reason. Two main reasons why it could feel more difficult to someone than the Huey that I can think of are: - The VVI is scaled in m/s and not 100 ft/min and the speedometer in km/h and not knots, so if you're used to the Imperial units, processing them may be a little less instinctive at first. I had that problem at first. The VVI is also somewhat harder to read. - There's definitely more inertia. You can't stop on a dime like in the Huey, or accelerate as easily (which you would want to do if you're already in VRS) but then again, it also makes the helicopter more stable. I don't know if the Hip actually enters VRS easier than the Huey. I keep my descent rate within 2 - 3 m/s and I have no problems.

I'm not sure I understand your weapon configuration. You have two radar missiles on stations 1 & 2 and four R-60 missiles on pylons 3 & 4, two on each pylon? And the radar missiles and one of the R-60s on each pylon launch fine? If that's the case, fire the second pair of IR missiles like the first pair, using either the 3, 4, or 3 & 4 position. For example: 1) Set the IR/RADAR switch to IR 2) Select pylon 3 3) Press and hold the missile release button until the missile fires. 4) Press and hold the missile release again, until the other one fires. This way you would launch both IR missiles on the left side. You can of course switch between stations 3, then 4, then 3 again and 4 again to keep a better balance, but I kept it simple to illustrate my point.

From what the Internet tells me, self starting capability was added during production of the MiG-15bis. So vanilla MiG-15 and possibly also some early MiG-15bis aircraft didn't have that capability. Why didn't the Americans do the same? Who knows, I guess they didn't consider it essential. A more capable battery may also be bigger and heavier, perhaps they weren't willing to make that sacrifice.
-
In the WIP videos and screenshots of the MiG-15bis cockpit, we can see two versions of the artificial horizon - a blue/brown one and a black one. Are we going to see two versions in the game or is one of those a placeholder?
-
Fingers crossed that it means Poland will be included in DCS eventually :).

If you're playing air quake with random people from the Internet, there's no way to prevent them from doing all sorts of unrealistic stuff. This type of game "mode" is inherently not realistic. If you're playing with a group of friends, where you actually aim to simulate a realistic operation, a gentlemen's agreement should be enough. The Sea Eagle will provide some interesting opportunities in the more "what if" scenarios. We can always not use them if we want a super realistic experience. I say: let's have the option to use it.
