  1. Great tip. I have set a default position, but sometimes you still need to change position, and this suggestion is excellent. As for whether to buy VR or not... Really, you hesitate from taking a leap in realism that has never been equalled in gaming. Don't procrastinate a second longer. Ask anyone who has VR whether they'd go back. It's probably the simplest question to answer in gaming circles today - go for it!
  2. Politics aside, this map has already been asked for - one that covers the 1st Korean war as well as a 2017 version would be ace.
  3. At first they seem wide, but you'll soon grow to appreciate the finer control. The only issue might be fitting them into a narrow cockpit, but I don't expect there are too many out there lucky enough to have that problem.
  4. I know where you're coming from with this. My point wasn't to knock the suggestion, but simply to point out it is a great idea that's definitely going nowhere - at least for the foreseeable future. ED are always listening, but they can't always act. That's all. You will notice in the same post my agreement that it is a must, and needs to be implemented. Sithspawn - that female pilot was a ferry pilot - a brave woman no doubt nevertheless. In WW2 - at least in the UK and I believe the USA - women were never allowed front line roles, and so wouldn't have been heard over combat zones in the way they are today..
  5. I'd love to see DCS World around long enough that all aircraft are represented in hi-fidelity modules. The question ought not to be "can they be produced" so much as "is there a will and an incentive to produce them"? The two questions are entirely different - as there would probably be very little stopping them from doing it, but as they are a commercial organization, the bottom line will be the only incentive that matters. There is a desire for one for Nam among other environments, but would enough of us buy a MiG-17 to make it worthwhile commercially?
  6. It ought to be a feature. It would be great if things like ATC had a selection of voices, which were used randomly to give the impression you are dealing with different people too. There are a great number of females within the armed forces these days, and we need a reasonable reflection of this across the board in DCS World. The next thing of course will be the need for female voice actors to do the work - Wags in drag just wouldn't cut it for me! :music_whistling: :music_whistling: :music_whistling: We do however also need to prioritise stuff. I'd sooner see 2.5 first, as I am sure most of us would.
  7. The 1080 should be sufficient. I'd hang on for the next gen before splashing out on a GPU if you already have the 1080.
  8. I use Hi fi cordless headphones. the sound quality is better, adding to the immersion factor. I'd decide about whether to keep the touch controllers once you have tried a few touch capable games. They do add an extra dimension to gaming, but it is really an individual choice. In DCS they are simply impractical, and not supported anyway. The decider will be whether you play VR games alongside DCS World. I find they were a novelty, and they now sit with the batteries removed, on my shelf.
  9. I believe the status of tool tips can revert to on regardless of the settings within a mission. I have noticed this on the RAF Air server on several occasions. Let's just hope it is fixed with the next update, because it is a real game killer to be excluded from servers because of a simple bug. I am sure ED will have it firmly within their sights.
  10. I did read your thread. Did you read the ones regarding progress? The fact that there is a new damage modelling system being developed by ED may be the reason you have seen no progress on the Mirages damage model. The fact remains that the module isn't being neglected - which is what you stated. So yeah, I read the rubbish you wrote. Now you know about the progress being made maybe instead of trying to fight a hopeless cause, you might consider withdrawing it?
  11. Not exactly fair, but you go with it! Frankly if you have time to sit and look at the function of a gauge when you're plummeting towards the ground in flames, then perhaps you have your priorities wrong? Sure, it needs addressing, but perhaps the updated flight model and fly by wire systems might take priority? That's what is being worked on right now, so I-Wish-Someday-RAZBAM-Pay-Some-Attention-To-The Mirage club may have something to celebrate after all! Perhaps a quick reading of the current posts might have enlightened you to that, and saved face for you?
  12. It's called using specialists in their fields. They have map specialists, 3d modelling specialists, and systems specialists. This has been stated by them on several occasions, but clearly the message simply falls on deaf ears, or people don't bother to research their subjects properly. How ED choose to conduct themselves isn't subject to armchair analysts giving sage advice - advice that is generally given in complete ignorance of the realities of their resources and how they use them. Considering how short a space of time VR has been in the public arena, you can hardly blame ED for not being on the ball. Like EDs own software, VR is currently a moving target, and chasing rainbows probably isn't going to prove productive until the industry settles down to a set of standards that can be confirmed as the way forwards. Much as we'd all like to have cake today, the reality means we will have to curb our enthusiasm a little, and leave the developers to assess and decide in their own way, and time what to pursue, and what to simply monitor.
  13. It is clear that the real world tankers turn at a much more gentle angle of bank compared with DCS World ones.
  14. Which is exactly what I said. Under the numbers on the numpad keys you will see arrows too! If the keys don't work, you can try renaming the saved games folder, letting DCS World rebuild it on a restart, and try again. If it then works, you will know there is a corruption in the saved games tree, that needs to be dealt with, then you can revert back to the original files, and not lose your key mapping etc.

  16. RCtrl-RShift + numpad arrow keys to reposition and * and / to zoom in/out, RCtrl-numpad zero (I think) to save.
  17. I thought the ? was the . getting shot down!
  18. 132.55 is VHF AM. 38.7 is VHF FM, and I think 327 will be the UHF AM. I think the 3.9 MHz works with aircraft fitted with short wave radios such as the MiG-15?
  19. I average about 57, but it is slowly increasing...
  20. Motion sickness is an acclimatisation thing. Keep your sessions short to begin with, and you'll build up resistance over a few sessions. As soon as you start to feel hot, or queasy, just take a break. It is best to take it slowly to begin with, and then it'll start to affect you less and less. The problem is the disconnect between visual movement, and lack of a co-ordinated feedback from your inner ear. The brain can be trained easily to accept the disconnect.
  21. Why not add more of the LotATC features, I am sure they'd be happy to co-operate. Precision approach radar, radio panel, AWACS style continually updating radar pictures available only when in range of a radar site, the possibilities are endless. Turning the map into a complete tactical picture, available in only certain roles would be great. Fog of war on steroids. I agree, a button to quickly swap from SI units to imperial L/L to MGRS et al would be a huge aid too. The more powerful the F10 map the better - but also with complete control over the availability of tactical data provided to mission planners would add a complete extra layer.
  22. You did say brave, so what's a little drama on take off to a hero?
  23. The Mossie is the obvious choice. Flying examples are around, it is the most versatile aircraft of the entire war, has both crew members in the one compartment, and out performs just about everything else out there, including giving fighters a real run for their money. Plus it's made of wood, so material costs will be lower :music_whistling:
