  1. That's the point, comparing how engines produce kinetic energy to how transistors work makes no sense. In the same way comparing an aardvark to a car stereo makes no sense.
  2. it depends, there are a lot of timezones... different people play at all hours of the day, if you added up each individual person during a 24hr period, it would be a lot more people than the single time you looked... and even more on weekends... so in reality i think its somewhere in between...
  3. it's funny how all the single-player users say "most people don't play multiplayer" and all the multiplayer users say "most people play multiplayer" The truth is probably somewhere in between, and I bet everyone who plays DCS plays multiplayer at some point, just as everyone who plays multiplayer plays singleplayer at some point... I think, a lot of those that play singleplayer eventually get bored of shooting down SFM AI planes, and want more of a challenge, then move to multiplayer... This being said, what country the plane comes from doesn't matter, but we need more planes that don't rely so much on BVR if there's going to be any reason to have older russian planes.... otherwise it's just going to be noobs who think playing battleship or minesweeper (AIM-120 lobbers) while flying an airplane is fun
  4. a single 1070 would give you a lot more performance, DCS doesn't run well with SLI, while it works, you don't really get the performance gains you would in a game more optimized for SLI... a single fast card is always better than two slower cards in SLI on average, the 1070 is 50-60% faster than the 970... also the GTX 780, 970 and RX480 all share similar performance.
  5. The problem with all those Nvidia features is you have to use Nvidia APIs, their gameworks thing... proprietary more often than not = impractical, or dead until some non-proprietary equivalent replaces it... I have an nvidia videocard, and I will buy another until AMD or any company can show me a videocard with the horsepower and better price as nvidias very top end cards (xx80) cards... but I still hate anything propriatary when it comes to computer software and hardware, it's bad, because a lot of good ideas and software/hardware don't ever get widely adopted just because some ass wanted to make money...
  6. Any vendor, founders or not, all reach on average 2050mhz, there are a few lucky oness that get ones that'll get to 21xxmhz but even the founders cards are just as likely to hit 21xxmhz as the most expensive aftermarket cards... TL;DR ALL 1080s, ALL SKUs, reach on average of 2050MHz, some don't reach 2000, some reach 21xx.
  7. Need center fuel tank on the mig-21...
  8. you've never been able to move the cursor thing while in continues, not ever, you can while you're IFFing though.

  10. Vulkan would be awesome, much easier to make cross platform with OSX or Linux too... not to mention, anything to get away from being dependant on Microslaush... if there's one good thing about vulkan, it's that microsoft sucks, and people only use anything by microsoft because their software requires it... so anything that uses openGL or vulkan, or anything but DX, is a good thing, one less thing microsoft can monopolize. it means microsoft has to work harder, and do what people want more, in order to keep their profits up... instead of just tell people "this is what you get, live with it, and give us money."

  12. Pick one, it's just as likely to be the fastest as any other, so far there are no cherry picked 1080 GPUs, so a better cooler and power supply is just for cooler and quieter, not faster...
  13. Zoom in and out a lot, the LOD depends a lot on zoom levels, also look for smoke and shadows on the ground or water, signs of planes, not just the plane itself. Also if you see a friendly he might be chasing or being chased...
  14. I don't have these control issues with the mig-15, if I were you, I'd re-do my entire axis and stick config from scratch, making sure all axises and buttons are only assigned to one thing each. In the past week or so i've logged a good 15 hours in the mig-15... as for the brakes, not sure though... you can check my youtube videos in the mig-15, and tell me if you see any twitches or button input lag...
  15. Well you gotta understand the Titan X isn't a high volume card... a few will be made, generally for those that just want to say "I have the most powerful card with the most memory" and don't know and cant be bothered to care about overclocking... it's not meant for people who actually know what they're doing...

  17. where the 1080 gets 60 fps, the titan x gets 80 fps... basically... and the titan x is nearly double the price... but it IS the fastest gpu you can buy....
  18. It has really early sidewinders with a range of about 3000 feet.
  19. very significant, the 1060 is way over twice as fast as a 760.
  20. in the climb I was holding 3Gs, will the aim-9P be able to track in a 3G spiral climb, even if you maintain tone before launch? I was fighting based on what I know of the F-5 as it currently is... maybe when the aim-9 gets fixed i'll have to re-think... watch the awacs message right before he lights me up too... tells me there's a target at 171 6km away, i'm heading roughly north, so I look back, at the same time, he lights me up with his radar....
  21. or better yet HhG8gLmELy0
  22. so the whole thing with using icons to spot things at greater ranges than what would otherwise be realistic is kinda moot, since on computer screens we're entirely limited by pixel density and screen quality as well as monocular vision.... it's not realistic anyway... if everyone has the same, it doesn't give anyone an advantage, so whatever setting you like... well that's my opinion... personally i'd just leave them off...
