i7 2600k overclock causing lag in DCS?!
Hadwell replied to D4n's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
even with no pump, there's still enough cooling for the cpu to shut itself down without frying... in fact, you'll probly even be able to get into windows and order a new pump before it shuts down... you could... keep a spare pump on hand? I've been running this H80 since i got this computer in 2011/12 (can't remember the exact date) -
1080 vs 980ti for WQHD(2560x1440)

that's 1600cdn... bit over my price range... i'd say max 1100$ but im cringing at 900$.... -

the display i have now is IPS, a very slow display, but has good image quality... what I want also is a fast monitor, or one with more resolution, or both... but i was unsure if more resolution was better than a better screen... I'm not too into the ultra-wide thing, if there was a PG278Q ultra-wide version, even if it cost more, i'd get it, also* im not willing to pay more for the 165hz versions... -

I agree, going with the 1440p display. Thanks. -

I don't plan on using either of them with my 780... going to buy the monitor in the same order as the 1080... so you think, then, the 4k monitor would be better? I'm unlikely to get under 30 fps with a 1080, even at 4k? and they are both 16:9 monitors, first one is 3840 X 2160 60hz, other 2560x1440 144hz... it's such a six of one, half a dozen of the other thing... -

So im currently running a 1440p monitor with a GTX780 and I never see framerates less than 30 fps, But what I'm wondering is... this: http://www.ncix.com/detail/acer-xb280hk-bprz-28in-4k2k-ce-103792.htm or this: http://www.ncix.com/detail/asus-pg278q-rog-swift-27in-e5-100910.htm also going to get a GTX1080 to use with the monitor... I'm leaning towards the 1440p monitor, better panel, but im unsure if more resolution is better than a higher framerate and better screen, since both are gsync. -
hey, there are transistors and rectifyers too or is that what a thyristor is? :P and crystal oscillators, looks like there's some thermally controlled ones in there too, pretty fancy for the 60s...

yeah just buy a bunch of 10$ usb gamepads, that just show up as a generic xxx button controllers, tear them apart and solder the switches to them, then you can just plug in the usb and it works, no extra drivers or anything.

jeeze... the radar and RWR are supposed to be closer to real life now... I have no idea if they are, as I've never seen the actual thing in full action, but I like the current radar/rwr, it looks a lot better than the old one, more authentic looking.

At the moment it seems their focus is on getting 2.5 out, and most of the bugs related to that... I think CA never really took off, pardon the pun, so they shifted focus elsewhere... I do, however, think that if CA had a better gui, and was a bit more fleshed out.... also didn't feel so tacked on, it would be awesome...

just killing urals in the a-10c, it's super fun... never gets boring mavs and CCRP laser guided bombing are super easy, can use them no problems, it's dumb weapons im bad with... I am getting better... just figured out how not to kill myself with my own bombs recently... still lots of room for improvement. 3hVhyZVQaP0

GTX1070 (ten-seventy) who's buying it?
Hadwell replied to hughlb's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
yeah i'd like to see how a max overclocked custom pcb/bios/power supply 1070 compares to a stock 1070 too, same with the 1080s -
i7 2600k overclock causing lag in DCS?!

you forgot the context in wich i said that... I will elaborate... the reason why non-Ks have locked multipliers and Ks are unlocked... Ks are there for overclocking, to... you know... make use of that unlocked multiplier... aka stock heatsinks shouldn't be on Ks... even if at lower clocks they can still run, you're better off saving your money and getting a non-K, if you're not going to buy an aftermarket cooler and overclock... is why i can't understand why intel includes such a bad heatsink with K cpus... and ram and not having DCS on a decent ssd are two more reasons for screen freezes. -

4.5ghz is a stable overclock, even for the worst binned 2600ks, your cpu won't die if its properly cooled... you'll probably want a whole new pc, and probably a new pc after that, before it would die.... -

lol, using a stock cooler on a K part should be illegal and the punishment for breaking that law should be 100 hours of community service installing after market coolers on K parts lol.... why does intel even give coolers away with K cpus, since those crappy little pieces of aluminum are so inadequite for the whole idea of a K part? -

I run my 2600K at 103x45 4.6ghz and 1.275v using a corsair H80 cooler. not sure if this helps also 16gb 1866 ram, and a samsung 840 pro ssd. -
yeah the gear doesn't go down if you try and land without it, and then repair... but even if they hydrolics fail, and the flaps and airbrake don't work, usually the gear will still go down so the only thing i can suggest is to always put the gear down (try at around 350kph, it won't go down if you're going too fast) the mig-29 is still using old flaming cliffs 1/2 stuff, so some of the problem might be that.

The 1080 is a beast card, and will eventually give better than we've seen so far fps in dcs, if someone makes a CPU fast enough that it'll be the 1080 dragging the system down. And "if dcs used this or that" and "draw calls blah blah blah"don't change facts, like that dcs WILL run faster with a faster than current CPU.
-
mig-29 can overspeed, you can get it to 1600+ kph ias on the deck, go far, fast, but run out of fuel in no time, fully controllable throughout, it just stops accelerating once you hit top speed, in a dive you can go faster for a few seconds, till you hit the ground, still won't lose control at any point. 1JZlV_1c7tU

or you can just literally copy and paste the files over, then just run the updater, and you're good to go will need to re-activate, but no downloading required.

I was planning on a triple 1440p setup when I get my 1080, would a ultra-wide be better? Space isn't Ann issue, and 1 card can handle 3+1, four in total now, right?
-
We shall see if the 1080 can pull off 200 fps when amd or Intel makes a CPU that makes the 1080 the bottleneck in DCS...
