  1. This particular anomaly being just too weird to ignore, I had to test it myself and I found Casmo's analysis spot on. 3 for 3 traps going 050 and 0 for 3 going 230 with the Essex. I switched to the Forrestal and got 3 for 3 going 050 and 2 for 3 going 230 - the first attempt was due to my forgetting to lower the hook <DOH>!! I am sure that M3 will be able to figure this one out quite easily. The trick is to get them working on it. It is probably lower on their list of priorities at this point.
  2. Man OH Man! I love this community!!
  3. I have just tried it on both the Normandy map as well as the NTTR map with the same results. I did not experience any difference between the Marianas map and the NTTR map or Normandy map on dirt surfaces or hard stands. For those of you that say you're not having issues, could you go to your F2 view and look at the tail wheel during a sharp turn? In my case, I don't think that I have seen the tail wheel swivel more than about 20-30 degrees. I really do think that this is a bug and would very much like for M3 to weigh in on this in the event that I am wrong.

Have you messed around with the supplies for the field you're on? Restricted any types of weapons? Have you messed with the clock down on the bottom of the screen that might change wat is available due to the time period?
  5. It looks to me like all of you guys are experiencing pretty much the same thing I am seeing. I wonder if it has anything to do with the Marianas map? I will try a different map and report back here. Thanks for all you replies and that you Hoss for the birthday wishes. We gotta get in the friendly skies together soon brother!
  6. Are you sure that it is an ED issue and not the module producer? In either case, it seems to me that it's worth is far more valuable than the slight effort it takes to make a post about it. Sort of like a Return On Investment thing. Although I suffer mightily while hunting and pecking at this blasted keyboard, the possible reward of seeing a more realistic star up of a big radial engin warbird would far exceed my meager labor!
  7. I'm not sure that I am doing things correctly, but it seems to me that, with the tail wheel locking handle pulled up and turned 90 degrees, the aircraft should turn freely in either direction with the application of one of the wheel brakes and a small application of power if necessary. The P-47 comes to mind, where I sometimes feel as if I'm riding around on an air hockey puck instead of in an airplane that might weigh around 14,000 pounds. The Corsair, on the other hand, seems as though the tail wheel is not unlocked at all and is very unwilling to turn without a fair bit of forward motion. Not having any RL experience in either one, I can't say which is more correct but I have to think that the Corsair's ground handling qualities are more than a bit under done. Otherwise I have to sat that M3 has done a beautiful job on this iconic plane and I couldn't be happier with my purchase! BRAVO ZULU M3!!
  8. ED has done a beautiful job of trying to simulate the interaction of the aircraft with its immediate surroundings. We now see a nice cloud of dust coming up from the rotor wash of a helicopter, we see the grass and various foliage behind a plane reacting to the thrust generated by its engine and we see vehicles with dust trails behind them whenever they are traveling off road - even when driving through the snow! (I don't know, maybe they fixed that by now ) What I am now wishing for is a dust cloud resulting from a plane landing on a dirt runway. In video after video, we see P-47s, P-51s, Corsairs, FWs and 109s landing on a dusty, dirt runway and the wake turbulence is illuminated by the loose dirt on the ground. It would be a wonderful addition to the DCS Core experience!
  9. Couldn't agree more!
  10. Roger that Hoss! I believe that ED is working on an AI Turkey along with the SBD and I also read that they were doing a PBY!!
  11. Did the Corsair not have a generator, or is it just perpetually hot wired to the ON condition?? I am absolutely positive that the Corsair had a pilot seat with a vertical adjustment and I am very surprised that this has been left out. The very important engine instrument cluster in the lower right hand corner of the instrument panel is exceptionally hard to see. Being able to lower the seat a few inches might help considerably and I'm pretty sure that the seat was in its highest position for landing and takeoffs then lowered for normal flight operations. Surprised that there aren't key bindings for these items.
  12. A good pilot never "slams" anything when making a control input.
  13. I've already purchased the map so this wish wouldn't impact my decision to buy or not but it would sure be nice to see the airfield at Kitzingen, home of the 3rd Combat Aviation Battalion or, Aviation Battalion Combat, depending on when you were there. Best 2 years of my life spent there back in '77-'79.
  14. LOL! It would appear that the old saying, "It's much easier to beg forgiveness than to get permission." isn't really true after all!
  15. It's been wished for in here quite a few times already and I can't think of a better map to bring out for a Pacific theater than one of the Solomon Islands.
  16. Topic is self-explanatory. I'm looking for an after-market extension for this stick.
  17. As the addict said to the pusher, "DUDE, you rock!!" Thanks heaps Dan!
  18. You might be correct. I just remember my Dad telling me about his time as the CO of VF-52 and always taking the Panther that had Tacan installed so he could have an easier time of leading the flight back to the boat. He was in VF-52 from '53 to '55. So, I'm pretty sure it was installed in the plane. They were flying off the Wasp (CV-18) during that time.
  19. Unfortunately, the F4U-1D did not have a Tacan but I have high hopes that the A-1H being built by Crosstail Studios will have one installed.
  20. I would say that all "they" would need do to bring it up to Korean War standards is to provide the ability for a mission builder to add a Tacan to the carrier. And provide a standard 1950's era gray paint scheme as well. I'm not sure whether this (the Tacan) is up to ED or M3.
  21. I'd sell my soul for an Avenger! Hell, I'd sell Hoss' soul for one!!
  22. Another bump for this iconic WWII carrier warrior, especially after seeing the latest newsletter from ED showing a WIP of an SBD Dauntless. The Avenger along with the Hellcat, Corsair and SBD would make the carrier deck look fairly complete with only the Helldiver missing. ED has also shown screens of the Zero, Kate and Jill, which I would be willing to bet will wind up being flyable in the future, i.e. a bit over 2 weeks.
  23. Well, for God's sake, at least get rid of those anti sway bars, or whatever those are on the belly, and pretend that you know the Helldiver had a bomb bay in the belly that was covered by actual bomb bay doors!!
  24. Thank you very much for your reply and advice. I will give that a try. Again, thank you very much!
  25. Following the most recent update (or two), the advanced command to have an AI follow something seems to have been "slightly" damaged. I say slightly because it does work under some circumstances but no longer functions as it should in others. I have been using the follow command for quite some time to have the Plane Guard helicopter follow along beside the carrier during flight operations. In order to accommodate longer missions, I have been using the Switched function to launch a second helicopter from a screening destroyer close by to replace the first helo once it departs the zone associated with the carrier. The second helicopter will start (a switched command) and take up station alongside the carrier for the remainder of the mission. This has worked very well for several months until just very recently. Now, the second helicopter launches from the screening DD, and just returns to land. I am curious if this behavior has been noticed by anyone else lately. Another weird aspect of this issue is, without the "Uncontrolled" box checked for the second helo, it will launch at the beginning of the mission and fly right over to the carrier and take up its assigned station. Additionally, I have found that if I give the second helo a "late activation" (and change the trigger to "Group Activate), it will appear right on cue when the first helo departs the zone and launch and fly over to the carrier as prescribed. It seems like the problem is caused by the "uncontrolled" box being checked. Any comments, advice or information would be much appreciated. Advanced Command_Follow_Test.zip
