I've been practicing the Su-27 offline against the F15-C. I've been noticing that I can only seem to pick the F-15C up in ILL radar mode, that the contact doesn't appear to me in EO mode. He is nearly straight ahead of me, perhaps slightly higher, and I've moved the radar up a few notches, etc.. and still no joy in EO mode. 1. I read it should pick him up if he is using military power. Does the F-15C AI not use military power ? 2. When flying against AI F-15C without radar he seems to have no trouble picking me up (vs when I go 1v1 vs. human, we see that with EO on and radar off, I don't show up in his RWR). Am I doing something wrong, or is this just part of an AI issue ? Thanks

Had this game since Lomac days, it's what, 15 years down the road and we still push out updates that clobber everyones key bindings ? How about an 'opt-in' approach on your profiles rather than a 'we will clobber your settings, so good luck try again' approach

Glad your looking- thank you sir!

I also get the contrails popping in and out, if I turn my head or slightly adjust the zoom things just pop in and out of view.

Last comment: I'm now running 1080p with degraded graphics experience just so I can see contacts in close range. Gone is the nice shiny 4k that I was wowed by when watching Wags videos. I'm not doing it to 'cheat', I am doing it to just be able to be able to see. It's a terrible solution.
-
Tie the object size to the resolution - let us test it. I get trying to make it work for 4k as much as 1080p. Since we know a concept of object enlargement was put in place, and yet that was too big for lower resolutions, there should be a form of resolution detection that takes place that attempt to optimize the system for that user.

NineLine: So that means that because we are concerned about a 'cheater' that the rest of us are basically all penalized for being able to see in the game ??? It's like we cater for the 1% so the rest of the 99% suffer. We shouldn't be penalized for wanting to play the game on higher res monitors. amen, amen, amen. I just got 3-4 of my squadron to fly DCS, first thing is "looks great, can't see jack shit" - who makes a game where it takes binoculars to see anything ?

Visibility I'm fairly new to DCS. I've owned DCS modules since the days of Lomac, but my interest was lower back then. Since returning, I've fallen in love with DCS, the jets, the helo's , Sabre's, Spitfires, etc... it's really quite amazing, and the game has really come a long ways from those early days. But I want to bring up an ongoing issue, one that is expressed often around the forums, on discord, and reddit. I will be 100% honest here, I'll spend my bazillion $$$'s on the great AC DCS provides, often overlooking the stale single player content, and the crashes on the public servers by some of the more immersive online environments in any combat sim. But what will most likely waver my devotion is going to center around Eagle Dynamics dealing with the most obvious of concerns: visibility. Sure, I can enable minimum icons offline, etc.. in order to see something very close, but my passion is online. Having a game where visibility is critical, especially in shorter range combat is one of the more important things in a combat sim. When I started back in DCS, I was finally able to use my pledge toward Normandy. And despite its' shortcomings right now, the aircraft are a treat to fly. But not when your online where you might as well close your eyes because the rendering is so pathetic. Then, I shifted to trying to fly Mig vs. Sabre. Again, the visibility is horrendous. "Use the smoke trails" I'm told. It's like a cop out of what a game should be. So I don't know the history, but I hear things like "they used object enlargement and it really helped" - so I think, why would they throw that out ??? "some of the community complained people could 'see too well'" - really ??? I'd love to see an honest to goodness vote on that. We have the diehard's who try to think using a 24" monitor is real life, then we have the other 80-90% of pilots who actually want to see things. It's rather a disgrace that the only want to see something is to be completely zoomed in 100% in order to see a ground target, or an enemy in short range combat. Beautiful cockpits, beautiful graphics, but I need binoculars (which is completely UNREALISTIC) zoomed in to see a black tank on a white runway!!! I'd like to see the youtube video where someone pulls out binoculars to id the mig in front of him. The story continues, I find out the nice monitor I have that makes the game look like Wag's video's online... well, if you use that, you might as well completely forget being actually competitive. Since now you see 4k resolution but can't see aircraft less than a mile in front of you, or again, have to zoom in the entire time to see. Yes, I've now wasted that $ as I crank down my resolution just to see if it helps. We have video's online reddit documenting this tragedy. ( ) DCS has probably the most intelligent developers of any game I've seen, the details are amazing. But why is ED shooting themselves in the foot by making it nearly unplayable outside of BVR and Auto Acquisition modes ? (and I'm talking about us common folks, not you ace types that will say 'oh you just have to "see" better'). Can't the game detect your resolution and provide a decent consistent view for all pilots across monitors and resolutions for example ? Can't you let us decide about 'object enlargement' - rather than strip things that I'm told actually worked, but because someone on 1080p TV said 'it's too big' - then he can turn it off right ? So, I beg of you ED to start to make it a priority to assist us online gamers. Let us see first off. New AC are great, new features fantastic, but this is a core item along with stability and mp server optimizations. I urge the community as a whole to sign a petition, let ED know what is important. I don't want to write a post like this, but I also can't just stay silent on it. If the community comes together as a whole an expresses the importance of being able to see in this game, then I believe ED will listen. Look at the comments for example around VR: Again, I love this flight sim, I'm hooked on it - it's an amazing game. Please address this most basic item so we can enjoy it to it's fullest potential. We've all dropped $1000's of $ just to play this game. Let us see! Thanks

I got screwed, I thought it was $20 now - so not only did I buy PG for $50, now I just bought a $90 bundle for just the Hornet (could care less about Su-33). Only reason I did the bundle is I figure I could gift the PG map and recoup $20 back. Once again, screwed for buying something at full price...

IMO, DCS should offer more trial periods. Let people download the game and tryout each aircraft for 3-5 days. ie. once you open a module, it starts your trial It only helps DCS IMO, I know I was on the fence with the Hornet, and with this free trial, I am definitely wanting to buy it when the special comes out.

Visibility is bad in DCS. And the ones that complain when it's better are the ones using crap resolutions , meanwhile you get penalized for having a good video and monitors I'd actually prefer not being able to 'zoom' in or out and just make things easier to see by scaling them - always thought zooming was odd. Scaling makes more sense than zooming. I don't want to see dots better, I'm talking actual objects - even the ground is bad - IRL you can see things clearly - in this game you have to zoom in flying over an airfield to identify something.

"and the elevation to 4(cuz you're 4 Km up so you just need 4 more to reach 8 Km). " Thank you - I wasn't reading this correctly, your explanation is great, I misunderstood this.

Hover Mode, Descent Mode and Collective Brake
USA_Recon replied to Pizzicato's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm getting drifting while all 4 buttons are pressed. The worse is when it slowly drifts altitude or when I find I'm drifting toward the target ,getting too close and getting fired upon. It takes me very long time sometimes to get it in a good hover, as I try to 'retrim' while hovering and messes it up. I've had better luck getting into a hover when I'm higher, and I've tried both the Descent and the Collective Brake, but it will often times not lower at all - which always leaves me confused - so I end up decreasing the collective manually. I'm still very confused about 'alt-hold' vs. 'collective brake' . When I am level and click alt-hold I'm expectation is that it will not go up or down. ie. does descent only work when using alt-hold ? When does collective brake work? My expectation of collective brake is that I lower the altitude using the collective and when I'm at a alt I want, I use the collective brake to 'set it at that altitude' - but it doesn't seem to stick (I still will go up or down). Lastly, the hover itself - i use the cyclic back and lower collective to slow down and start to prepare to hover, I tend to be pitched up too high though, so I trim to be 'level' and then I drift forward, it's very touchy, and takes me too long - by the time I hover, I'm too close or drifted out of range! -
Help me with the "Altitude Hold" - button

The 'Rudder Trimmer' was not checked, after checking it was much better. -
Help me with the "Altitude Hold" - button
USA_Recon replied to Siinji's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm having issues with rudder in the trimming. I will hold the trimmer down, have it very steady and then release, and the ka50- turns back - I will have the rudder pull left, hit the trimmer, and it will go back to the right. -
Help me with the "Altitude Hold" - button
USA_Recon replied to Siinji's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks (and goes to show how the Ka-50 is so great that after 9 years people still learning and flying it - great ride!) The info on this is often not clear. My experience was that if I drop down with the brake on, when I let go it seemed to rise back up (same with descent) . ? -
Help me with the "Altitude Hold" - button
USA_Recon replied to Siinji's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
let me get this straight - when altitude hold is on, and let's say I want to drop 100 feet, I hold the collective brake and bring the collective down, once I get to the new desired altitude, I release the collective brake ? -
Does the targeting reset also reset the buttons (ie. Ground Moving Target 'N') I can't tell because the buttons don't light up/off when on or off
-
any idea when the cockpit lighting will be fixed
USA_Recon replied to Johnny_Rico's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Will this include the inability to see if some of the buttons are pressed (ie. Ground Moving Target) ? -
I am having an issue where I select and lock a target. However, I have to still use the rudder to align the piper. I'm getting lots of bounciness - I have all 4 stabilizers on - is it suppose to be bouncing all over with just a slight touch of rudder ??

Su27 - A complete guide to combat employment and tactics
USA_Recon replied to Santi871's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Thank you, perfect timing for me as I've started flying red on buddyspike. This is especially helpful where AIM120 and R77/R27ET's are banned -
oooh... now we just need this integrated into my SRS overlay . :)

I'm fairly new to DCS , and I see posts on FC4. Is there an official link/news that has the details around what FC4 will have in it/possible beta release date ? Also, I realize it's to take the clickable aircraft and make them like FC3 aircraft, is there any efforts to convert the F15, Su27, etc... to clickable cockpits ? Thanks in advance - love DCS!!!
