  1. Yes, sure i noticed differences between them. First one is recorded in 1990's who knows what system and second is with gopro or something similar. But saying that they have almost no common is exaggeration in my opinion. I can hear lots of common between them and for me it's very clear they both are from Daimler-benz engine. However comparing any of them with DCS interior sounds, now there is definitely no common between them. DCS engine simply does not sound like DB's in those videos. About exterior, no, i can't say wich one is closer to what we would hear in real life. But again, both are clearly same from same engine and are closer to reality than what we have in game currently. In my opinion. :) About the whistle, judging from videos it seems it can be heard clerly only when engine is revving a bit. Like in this video, about at 30:00, whistle is quite clear when he start to taxing:
  2. Well it was just example, i did not meant DCS DB sounds like boxer-6 would, but it just doesen't sound like DB 605 for me.
  3. Yes, i know it is important to know they will muffle etc, etc but like i wrote earlier, i know all this but my point was, that no helmet or headset will change the whole engine sound itself to sounding like another engine, i.e it won't change V-12 sounds to boxer 6 sounds. I have sit many hours IRL prop planes, some quite powerful ones too. With and without headset :) Thank you! I will post some more videos if i found decent quality ones.
  4. Oh, i forget this, no video but great sounds: http://neunundzwanzigsechs.de/
  5. Unfotunately i must agree with OP. Sounds needs to remake in my opinion, current sounds could be ok for some other plane but problem is they doesen't really remind real DB 605 sounds at all. Like op said, current sounds ruins the immersion, it's kinda like flying replica of 109: it looks and flies pretty much like original but sounds like it had some modern engine under the hood. I just can't feel the power of the engine now. And please, with all respect stop posting comments about helmet and headset, or how recordings sounds different than real life. Yes, helmet will act as muffler, different mics etc. may change sound a bit but they won't change the whole engine sounds to another. DCS 109 looks awesome, cockpit is best 109 in any sim so far, FM feels fantastic (well theres some bugs but like we all know, beta), it really deserves equally great sounds too. With pretty please :) Unfortunately i don't own any high quality recordings of DB 605 so these youtube links must do it for now. For interior sounds: Exterior: Of course there is lot's of more in youtube, it's just hard to find good quality ones.
  6. Agreed, hopefully devs pay some attention to this.
  7. Take Off feels exactly right for me : if you do everything correctly, theres no problems, if not you are screwed in a heartbeat. Great Job!
  8. Well it's too late for me right now but i'll do it tomorrow if no one has already done by then.
  9. I know, i have that mod :) I believe he is already working with DB sounds...
  10. Yes have to be very careful not to rip wings off, not exactly what i've read from pilot memoirs. And unfortunately i was right about sounds, they are even worse than i tought... Other than that, i'm actually very impressed! It seems to have all good and especially bad habits it is so well known :) Climbing is great, i can out-turn 'stang at lower speeds but p-51 definitely have upper hand in higher speeds. Escaping with long dive is almost always big mistake :) After one hour of flying, all in all my feelings about it are very positive, it'll need some tuning here and there but i believe once ready it will be awesome.
  11. Problem is i don't know how to update open beta? I've always used only standard DCS... Nevermind, just found it and downloading atm :)
  12. How? Auto-updater does nothing...
  13. You guys are joking, right?
  14. Yes it seems they are not extended any of yet released screens.
  15. Did you actually read the hobbyvista article? :) Quote: "A common question asked regarding the 109 is "Should the slats be in or out when the aircraft is parked?" The answer is "yes". The slats are free-moving devices, and are commonly seen extended in many wartime and contemporary photos; however, if manually pushed back into the wing, the slats would remain there until the aircraft moved, at which time they would extend of their own volition."
  16. Ah, sorry, should have give you straight aswer :) Yes K4 does have slats, exactly similar as G models. You can actually see the lines around slats in screenshots if you look closely.
  17. Here you go: http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/techref/systems/control/slats/slats.htm
  18. Well if asking about realistic sounds is whining i guess thats the case then...:)
  19. I just want to use my own helmet :D
  20. Yes indeed, and that's pretty much what i said, but while headphones and helmet act as a muffler they won't change the whole engine sound to another. By the way, i would rather hear the pure "in-cockpit engine sound" than "muffled-down helmet sound" in sims.
  21. Slats are there, watch video in 1080p and you can see thin line in wing.
  22. Well here's the videos my opinion is based: I can't find very much common between these and DCS db sounds...
  23. Of course, and my comparisons is based two real-life records of flying 109's. I know that real pilot won't hear all details over engine noise and in real life, when sitting in cockpit sounds may be quite different than recorded ones (i've visited numerous air shows, have sit many hours in planes and work with planes as my everyday job). But in that take-off video engine noise/sounds doesen't sound like DB at all... But like you said, let's wait once it's released and even then remember it's still beta and see how it will progress. This is not meant as insult to sounds devs, it's just my honest opinion.
