  1. Is it so hard to admit that current DCS k4 sounds does not replicate DB605 very well? :D:D
  2. No "policemen" here...
  3. From JaPo Messerschmitt Bf 109 K book: It is visible in some photos:
  4. Yes it certainly looks like it, didn't noticed it before. Go for beige then :)
  5. :megalol: True also, but i think it was not as big issue in real life than it is in sims.
  6. Well you have good point there, i must agree. And average lifespan of dogfight IRL was many times only few minutes...
  7. I'm sure it will get updated before DCS:WW2 is out.
  8. It's not that simple. Mustang have better handling and agility at higher speeds. It's better in dives and also accelerates faster in dive as it's heavier and have better aerodynamics. It's got much better visibility. It also have faster roll rate at most speeds. 109 with MW50 is clearly better only in climbing and slower speed turn fights.
  9. 4 x 10 minutes, IIRC at least 5 min. pause between every time.
  10. Once you get home, would be good start to read whole thread. :)
  11. Sorry but first you have to get your facts right. 1. K4 and P51 have pretty damn close max speed, K4 with MW50 is claimed 715km/h, without MW ~670km/h. P-51 top speed is around 710km/h. 2. K4 does not have 2200hp engine but 1800hp with MW 50. Without MW around 1500hp. 3. K4 in DCS does not have flettner tabs. It has same ailerons as G models because majority of K4's had them IRL. It does not turn faster than "regular" G6. And you must understand that, while 109s tend to get stiff on faster speeds it was still fully manouverable, you just had to use more power to turn etc. Being stiff or hard does not mean unmanouverable. It's only after 750km/h or so when it starts to get really stiff and you have to use trim to pull of ouf dive for example. 4. Once K4 run out of MW 50 or are forced to take break of using it, it's not that much different to say G14 performance wise for example. Without MW50, p-51 will be faster. If Mustang pilot however starts to turn with 109 under 500km/h or try to climb away and there is skilled pilot in 109, then he is screwed. Just like in real life...
  12. I think you got the tail spot on (no pun intented:))...and i definitely agree about lightning and diffuculties in interpretation (if that's the right word) of colors from old pics. Personally i would also probably go with rlm76 engine under cowling as it seems to be case in majority of pics but it looks good with either color.
  13. Great start, will look very nice once ready i'm sure! You may know this already, but from my research for models it seems that late war 109s erla part of canopy was almost always painted with rlm 66 both in- and outside, probably to save time. As a real life a/c painter i can understand it well :) Judging from pic to me it seems that was the case with this one too.
  14. No, never. Theres not a single pic even in mhaldimann's fantastic flickr gallery. Of course it doesent mean they never actually used, like kurfurst said some sources claims that k4s were delivered with wing cannons.
  15. Yes it can, and maybe they'll became available later as they are in controls list already.
  16. Both work flawlessly here.
  17. It's a sim dream come true, no less. THANK YOU ED TEAM! :notworthy::notworthy: And it's so beautiful...
  18. Okay, thanks, good to hear he is at least going to check them.
  19. LOL it's good to see you take this issue seriously :shifty:
  20. I have actually done that, recorded few videos from my old BMW M5. Not gopro but other cameras. Of course there is differences between what i hear from video and real life but the basic engine sound is still the same, easily recognizable. I have also taken couple of videos from airshows and put them up to youtube. P-51D for example. So again, i know how Merlin sounds in real life and low quality video. Again, well recognizable. And, i've also recorded some videos from civil prop planes, same old story. No matter wich camera i had my hands, none of them are changed the way the engine actually sounds, NEVER. It is not the problem here goddamnit :D Problem is not the volume in the cockpit either, problem is the way the engine sound in DCS K4, because it does not resemble Daimler-Benz sounds. Again, maybe it is because it is mixed in hurry or whoknows what. Anyone have Klaus Plasa or Volker Bau email adress or phone number? Would be really interesting to hear their opinion...:) Maybe, but at least DCS Mustang engine sounds like Merlin. Here i definitely agree. It's sim dream come true, no less.
  21. Sounds are not bad, they just don't have lots of common with daimler-benz sounds. At least with current mix.
  22. I have only fought against ai Mustang but every time just single burst is been enought to bring it down. Many times without wing or tail.
  23. Not really, but DCS 109 is so damn beatifully modelled that sometimes i just have to gaze it for long times...
  24. Thank you Art-J, that's pretty much what i tried to say but it is sometimes hard with my limited english skills. :) And btw. i agreed your comment about lower revs.
  25. Who knows, this may well be the main problem. Maybe there is actually proper sounds under the IMHO overdone propeller etc. noise. In my last flight, i noticed that when flying from external view, from very limited angle i could hear some whistle and actual engine noise. Let's hope they at least get tweaked :)
