  1. Another benefit to AAR with wings in Bomb mode as it trims a fair way nose-up for better vis.
  2. I would tend to agree it must be right up there. Mostly due to the fact the tanker is usally at it's slowest speed possible and the chopper is at it's fastest, combined with the fact the chopper has to sit quite high compared to the drogue so it doesn't chop it thus off placing it further into the prop wake of the refueller. Also if the refueller is using any sort of flap to help with the slow speed this creates even more turb behind the aircraft.
  3. Phoenix will go pitbull when it's godamn good and ready - YOU GOT THAT?!
  4. ED have stated that the ability to program a DTC (Data Transfer Cartridge) prior to flight on the menu Special Tab or ME that holds a bunch of this type info like SPs, MFD sets and CMS progs etc is 'in progress' for several aircraft including the Viper.
  5. Don't forget you will also want to weather-cock into the wind if you have any crosswind. But yes you need to not brake at 100%, and just use differential braking when slowing to keep straight.
  6. +1 A more sedate 'I have more than 2 hours in the backseat of a Tomcat and everything isn't super exciting, like that bandit directly in front of us at 1/2 a mile that my more junior peers feel the need to tell you about...repeatedly' Jester option would be very welcome.
  7. Yes you utilise the radar exactly the same way as if you selected A-A on the ICP. Spotlight mode 'when implemented' will help immensely in this situation as you just press and hold TMS up then slew the radar cursors to the general area of the bandit and release and it will auto-lock the closest contact. For close in with the 120 - you just launch in the general direction of the WVR bandit and it should go MADDOG and smoke it.....notice I said 'should'.
  8. Haha indeed I was - thank you. I am very used to the forum warriors jumping on their keyboards to correct any real and perceived errors here lol. ;) Lol that is pretty awesome!
  9. Wrong gun - still awesome. Currently my DCS wallpaper too along with the default ED Mi-8 music.
  10. With the Hind approaching with the possibility of fitting the UB-32 rocket launcher, is there any chance this will be included for fitment to the Mi-8 as well? For no other reason than the Hip would look sick AF with 6 UB-32 launchers fitted! (192 rockets wouldn't hurt either)
  11. I know this used to be a problem but I thought it was solved. AAR on a KC135 the other day, missed the first plug so pulled back a couple of feet and plugged in again ok - However Jester was off on a tirade of comments one immediately after the other for several minutes. After he had been through what seemed like every comment in his repertoire once (I was trying hard to block him out) he defaulted back to normal fuel qty reports. I just put it down to some 'AAR under pressure' training...but would prefer not to lol. I know you can shut him up but I find the qty reports useful, and trying to work through the menu in VR while AAR is not ideal.
  12. Widely accepted that the damage model, especially for area-of-effect weapons like rockets, is currently nowhere near accurate or useful. Which makes using aircraft like this in DCS very frustrating - but ED are aware and hopefully this area will be improved '#soon'.
  13. Selfies, vids for his YT channel, that sort of thing.
  14. Not particularly, enables you while in ALT HOLD to hold the paddle and fly to a different ref altitude and release to select that alt, and enables you to reposition the aircraft without fully cancelling AP mode, or having to override ATT modes with stick control forces etc.
  15. Thank you.
  16. Is there any reason why we are still having to manually fire the laser? Auto-firing the laser when Time To Impact value = the pre-set Laser ST Time value doesn't seem particularly challenging to add.
  17. HA yea I just noticed this myself yesterday.
  18. Well obviously the reaction depends on the speed of oblique movement - moving sideways in a hover at 1m/s and then dropping it down, isn't exactly landing obliquely.
  19. Also just FYI - the headings shown on the kneeboard for the flightplan legs to the platforms appear to be in True. I would suggest giving these in Magnetic if they are intended for use in the doppler nav system. As it is now - just subtract 6 from all of the given headings - for the entire campaign I assume.
  20. That is literally exactly what I mean
  21. Yes...yes it will, and you sometimes won't have enough cyclic authority to avoid blade-ground interaction. Oblique adjective 1. neither parallel nor at right angles to a specified or implied line; slanting. "we sat on the settee oblique to the fireplace"
  22. Sorry what? Just reading the DCS Ka-50 manual and it is using Russian labels to identify switches with associated pictures using the Russian labels cockpit. Same deal with the DCS Mi-8 manual. I think you may have misunderstood the OP, I didn't mean the hover-labels, I meant the actual text labels in the cockpit, and thus the labels in the pictures in the manual and the text of the manual. It's not the end of the world obviously if it isn't, as there will always be Chuck to the rescue with his English guides using the English cockpit - but that is the sort of thing I mean.
  23. Threat detection and call-outs such as "SAM launch - 3 o'clock!' would be very useful as well, if he happens to see it/is looking in that direction.
