Indeed, but I wasn't giving an instructional brief on how to land your F-16C in real life, I was making a suggestion on how to give yourself the best chance at a decent landing in DCS given the F-16C modules current behaviour on the ground - but thanks for the correction. Feel free to land however you want. :thumbup:

  4. I also heavily rely on differential braking on the roll-out. Can easily keep you on CL to the point that I will be down to taxi speed sometimes and try to take the taxiway and forgot I haven't even enabled NWS yet. As for landing crabbed - generally you want to 'kick' it straight with appropriate aileron deflection just before you touch down. Then as you aero-brake apply required rudder and one-wheel braking as required.

Eh don't sweat it - Russian bullets find target by themselves - no aiming required!! :thumbup: The GSh pod on the Mi-8 is actually really easy to hit the target with, imagine the Hind will be the same. Really looking fwd to the Mi-24 coming to DCS!! (P.S Yes I know the Mi-24 is flying closed combat - fire when lead fires etc...)

  8. My first question would be - why are you using AMRAAMS in DF mode? You realise the other switch direction is MRM - or Medium Range Missile mode. The DF mode is for, well, dogfighting - with AIM-9's and guns, so that's what it gives you. I would shit a brick if I selected DF mode and got an AIM-120...

  11. I think that's the point NineLine is trying to make - perhaps not worth $80 to you now, but it will be in the future, and you get to enjoy the ride on the way. Just the ability to fly the Viper in VR is worth it for me being a Viper fan. It just gets frustrating when you try to employ it, whilst enjoying it in VR, when not much works properly. But if me purchasing these modules helps get them developed then that is awesome. I was stoked when I heard ED were releasing the Viper in DCS, and if me buying the Mi-8 module helps gets the mighty Mi-24 over the line - perfect! Now we don't usually agree on much NineLine - but you hit the nail on the head with that one. :thumbup:
  12. I really think the free trial period was a masterful idea. Was always a heli fan but had never considered the Mi-8 before (big, fat, bus-like with a big 'aircraft' flight deck) - but boy was I wrong. With the Mi-24 on the horizon I thought I would give the Hip a go in the trial, and purchased after 1 hour of flying. Now spend the majority of my DCS time flying it (The Oilfield campaign is really good btw! Just started Spring Tension...really missing that ambient radio comms but is still fun. Is there a Kiwi doing some voice-over stuff in that campaign?). Also purchased the Mig-21 after a quick trial flight cause, why not - its weird lol. Am not gonna lie, am finding the Viper very frustrating, but that is just because I am used to full sys functionality of BMS, so it is fully a 'me' problem, and it might get there eventually. But yes just keep the 'communication' going to the ppl that have purchased the product. So until the Viper is ready to come out of the oven, there is always the Mi-8!

Mate, why do you keep banging on with this statement - everybody (except you it seems) knows full well that the centrifuge profile culminating in a 9G pull for 15 seconds is part if Viper training, and like any part of the training course on this aircraft or any in the military, you don't pass it - you fail and go fly something else, if you are lucky. No one is arguing that yes there may be isolated incidents where pilots have G-LOC'd out, but these are just that - isolated in comparison to the hundreds of flight hours a year flown by military Viper drivers. They can be the result of mainly things such as a medical condition, ill health etc. etc - and I can guarantee that pilot will be grounded for medical review to determine exactly why, and if he is safe to continue flying that aircraft type. At which point I will add you are absolutely right my reply was condescending to your your thoughtless comment - using the death of a pilot to 'support' your weak argument (noting what ilikepie said regarding the incident - a full neg to high-G pos pull or vice versa is highly dangerous, and they are prohibited in our AF at least) ) along with posting 'rolling on the floor laughing' emojis about it, is not cool man... No one here is asking to fly around indefinitely at 9G looking all over the place, just a reasonable G-LOC simulation, which ED have said they are looking at. There is also specific head positions to place your head in against the headrest before pulling the G to keep eyes-on etc, just FYI. In reality if you are dogfighting in DCS at a sustained 9G for long periods - you are flying too fast anyway... Check this report stating how the vast majority of pilots are very capable of sustaining much higher G loading's than we currently can. https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a196171.pdf Was checking it again in DCS last night and yes fairly regular GLOC at 7-7.5G, which is low whatever a/c you are flying. I can also speak from personal experience that holding a sustained 6.5G pull for approx 20 seconds was fairly easy with no training at all (in the back seat) - and regular fighter pilots can handle 7+Gs with relative ease while looking around and speaking normally. So perhaps just let people have their say without arguing with everyone, and we will see how ED goes, and hope they also see how limiting this currently is and increases the priority of it.

  15. Cheers, will persevere I guess - just my general rule with DCS mods is that if the thing doesn't even take off, then prob easier to move along. Will try some different combinations of this button setting, and my actual pedal brakes, but as I said the brakes are currently locked on, so no worries 'keeping it slow' - stationary work? lol Got a fair bit of time in the Red Bull Air Race sim from the Oculus store so will be interesting to compare. Haven't tried the air start after my first attempt with the aircraft that just led to uncontrollable porpoising into the ground with no effect from flight controls...she has been a rocky introduction lol.

  18. Yep custom .lua is the way to go. In reality this should all be part of the DTC that you can set and forget for the aircraft on the Special Tab, but I 'believe' this is being developed for the future for some jets.
  19. Sry if I have missed some info somewhere - but what is the story with the brakes? They are jammed full-on while on the ground and I am unable to release them. Have mapped L&R Brake pedal axis to my usual rudder pedal brake axis - no effect (usual invert try etc). Mapped those two 'Brake On' buttons (whatever they do) and no effect. Looked for a Parking Brake control option - no luck. At least I can just skid across the ground in a cloud of smoke till rotate. First time I d/l'd it the aircraft wouldn't move at all on the ground, and would porpoise and crash during the inflight Instant Action. Poss download corruption again?
  20. Well, noting the Threads title - [FIXED IN NEXT UPDATE] At least the next Viper update will be a bumper one! (Trying to look for the silver lining here) Shame it will just be full of fixes to stuff that was working and is now broken, not an actual increase in systems functionality. Actually - genuine question. Is there any testing whatsoever at all for new code before patch update, or just wing it and hope it works, noting it is EA and you can just fix it next patch (which I mean is fair enough given we are on Beta)? But I would have thought a quick 5 min flight before release would have identified the radar elevation borked, 30 secs airborne and you would realise the steerpoints don't work etc...
  21. What are you laughing at, am trying to help you? I am not talking about bar scan either. As I said, you have no control over the 'actual' antenna elevation direction if tgt locked in TWS, but it will return to that elevation if bug tgt dropped. Now probably isn't the best time to worry about it anyway, as many people have noted all over the DCS forum, the radar elevation is broken after last update.
  22. The co-ords would more than likely be loaded into his/her data txfr cartridge (DTC) for insertion into the jet during pre-flight. If they were already in flight then received co-ords then yea by all means just enter them manually - it takes less than 10 seconds using the ICP. For an aircraft to use a Very High Frequency (VHF) Omni-Directional Range (VOR) for navigation it requires specific antennas, avionics boxes, and indicators onboard the aircraft to enable this. Aircraft don't just 'use VOR' by default. In this particular fighter jet VOR is seen as unnecessary due to precision GPS navigation and TACAN, and as such excluded from the design. TBH the easiest way would just be a Bullseye bearing and distance, as you could just mark a point on your FCR using the cursor readout at that exact point, and subsequently fly to the SP.
