I assume a partial refund is coming to all the early pre-release purchasers who tried to support ED, only to then sell it with 50% discount right before release...? It's not even like we have been able to use it in the meantime so actually gained any benefit whatsoever, so very different to a module going on sale later after release. ED are really going all-out to try and dissuade pre-purchase decisions lately..

I got to this bit and thought yea this must be a joke...'I am quite surprised the Huey, an obscure chopper I have never heard of outside the sim' But in reality there is a whole generation now that probably has no idea what the Vietnam war even was.

Also was just flying around landing at every 'clearing' beside the forest on the N side - just quit the mission in the end. No directions of guidance to help find the right 'spot'. Edit: Just checked the mission in the ME - if you mean the place we need to go is the collection of items to the W of Apsheronsk, that is 16km away, no way would I think of flying that far looking for an oil oil rig that could be anywhere. Some clearer instructions needed, like fly 15 km NW lol. Is a shame as am really enjoying the campaign.

Not in flight aside from mentally adding everything up (ZFW, current fuel, stores), on ground just open the rearm screen. Generally at landing you will have no stores remaining and min fuel so pretty easy to determine per Steph21's post above, but honestly just place the FMP at the top of the staple - which is in the middle of the 5 deg lines placed on the landing spot. The Viper is crazy easy to land.

Don't know specifically for DCS, but tower controllers should provide vectors in magnetic. Change your units to imperial in the options menu gameplay tab.

As you can read from the title - they are going to 'simulate' incorporating it later in EA.....so don't hold ur breath lol

+1!

English voiceover missing from R-3S and guns training videos.
VampireNZ replied to D4n's topic in Bugs and Problems
You play DCS - you speak RUSSIAN! Is great thou, I have learnt basic french and russian playing this game lol. Is kinda funny, my fav is the English manual...using Russian cockpit labels in all the pics, when there is an English language cockpit option. So you have no idea what anything in the manual is saying regarding switch names or positions. Pro tip - if the person is reading the english manual, the probably don't speak russian. -
I am quite tempted to buy this aircraft while the special is on but have no interest at all in having that gunsight right in my face in a trainer aircraft, i.e not the ZA version. Is there still no way to permanently remove it aside from on a per-mission basis in the ME? If I wanted to use a gunsight to shoot stuff, I would be taking the ZA version - why do you need it in the C version? This combined with the fact you can't use the NS430 without having this removed, which in pre-made missions/campaigns is not even up to you, seems very strange.

reported Frame Rate Stutters While Powered On
VampireNZ replied to Solid84's topic in Bugs and Problems
Also just here to report same type issue and note BN's response was several months ago with no 'update'. Massive frame lag when on the NAVterrain page in Caucasus map (not tried on other maps yet). Back to NAVmap page and framerate resumes as normal. Single player not tried it on MP and using VR headset. Related to the terrain height display? -
Why is it So hard to land the MI 8
VampireNZ replied to tusler's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Yeah I recently flew a Cabri G2 and the sensitivity was pretty much identical to the Gazelle in DCS - I have a VKB Gunfighter with extension, the controls were just really heavy in the G2 compared to my spring-loaded VKB which made it tricky to be super-sensitive but still put a fair bit of grunt behind tiny movements. But hovering the Cabri IRL was a piece of cake after flying the DCS Gazelle. -
That was it, thanks! Is what I get for trying to keep my install tidy lol

Edit: Sorted by Tanuki below.

This free-to-try month is really handy to try out modules and find out they don't work, saved me some money - cheers. Installed the NS 430 and don't even have the module on the Specials Tab to enable it. Also had the L-39 on trial and added the specific addon for this aircraft as I use VR - but without NS 430 in Special Tab it won't work even thou you have the option to use NS 430 in the ME. Tried several times to download it all with no luck - oh well, never mind looks like I won't be needing the L-39 or NS 430 after all.

Already raised - from the devs title change I presume there is no plans to implement this. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=253375

Aah yeah, that's the thread lol. I was thinking of creating the thread and had a funny feeling to check the bugs section, but then thought nah it's not a bug, doh lol. Looks like you have it more than covered in there. Forget I spoke.. Tomcat looks to be coming along nicely, super keen to get it up and running off the new Supercarrier.

Not entirely sure what you mean, but both these bindings are in my current OB version - 2.5.6.45915? See attached screenshots.

You can indeed close the Jester Menu while not looking at it, see pic. Having the Jester menu centered in your actual VR viewpoint when you open it would be handy, but not sure on the technical difficulties associated in doing this.

Just getting back into the Tomcat after a break, and not sure if this has been raised before (am sure I have mentioned it quite a while ago). I am re-mapping all my controls in the back seat and notice there are still a bunch of rotary selector knobs and 3-position switches that don't have any associated option to map to xxx increase/up and xxx decrease/down, as there are in many other modules like the Viper for example. Subsequently you are unable to map these controls to a stepping rotary encoder or a momentary 2-way toggle switch on say a DSD button box. Some examples missing this option would be the TID Mode and Range knobs, and the DDD Panel Aspect and MLC switches. You are forced to select your two most used positions for these dials/switches and map then to dial+/dial- etc. So for example I can only have 50 and 100 set on the button box knob I use for the TID Range knob. Same deal for the switches. In comparison every dial on the RADAR control panel is set up like this perfectly allowing you to toggle the knobs around the settings, and pretty much every knob and switch has this xxx increase/up and xxx decrease/down option. Just a suggestion to further improve the product, in VR I try to minimise the time I spend using my trackball as it is a bit clunky and it adds greatly to the #immersion actually using a physical knob/switch to manipulate the virtual knob/switch. A me-problem I know - also realise you guys are super busy .

Cheers for the update Mike, Tomcat really shaping up nicely. Back in the pit after a small deployment to a Viper squadron and the future list of items on the way, including the addition of SC compatibility (just purchased it last night due to this as I don't own the Hornet), looks great!

@wuffman Don't click the image button above, just attach the image using button below. As far as the static reflections - ED must surely be realising some of them are just not working. They did add the oipton to remove them from the F-16 canopy and MFD's which was nice. The MFD's look much better and are easier to use, but I prefer the ones on the canopy as you actually feel it is there in VR - if you remove all reflections it feels like there is no canopy at all. They are quite subtle thou. Perhaps they just need to tone them all down a bit and reduce the 'detail' so to speak.

Silver lining indeed. I am very happy that my entire IL-2 series install size is 1/3rd the size of my DCS install (53GB vs 153GB) with only a handful of DCS modules installed. Just to put it in context - the entire library of 58 IL-2 aircraft textures, including an additional 10 4k skins installed for my fav aircraft, occupies the same space as 2 DCS Mig-21 skins (1GB-ish).. So if ED actually exercised some sanity then you could indeed 'install all complete DLCs on your PC together, whether you want them or not'. But it is just for info - as nothing is gonna change...including my M.2 drive...anytime soon.
-
Have raised a thread about it a long time ago, and will say it again - I really don't think it is necessary to have multiple 256mb texture files, particularly for an aircraft you don't even own! The entire MiG-21 texture library totals up to a ridiculous 6.2GB.... I have entire games that don't take up that much drive space.

Yep standard DCS trap - it will assign multiple axis controllers to a single axis. Not uncommon to have every axis option filled with available different axis controllers (and even button boxes and MFD buttons lol). Have to do the usual 20 mins un-binding all the unnecessary controls every time you get a new module....which makes trying all these trials modules at the moment a PITA lol. If you even so much as nudge another axis controller that is mult-bound it will take over that axis, which you find out if you have multiple sticks etc (sidestick for F-16, ctr mount for everything else in my case).

Radar antenna elevation a little too sensitive
VampireNZ replied to JuliMonkey's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Oh, ofc! Mapped to my rotary dial on my throttle and always think it is a bit too sensitive around the middle - never thought of curves, only use those for flight controls lol. Doh, ta.
