  1. I saw a youtube video showing the effect of mirrors on stuttering... If you set it to "every frame" you get lower FPS but less stutter....
  2. I'd hold off until we HAVE edge to play with. I've heard reports that FPS is much improved over the current engine so you may not need to spend anything!

    Home Brewing

Friend of mine is planning to do exactly that. Kits are plenty good really and dry hopping gives you that bit of customisation to make it your own!

Who knew grape vines grew in London! I've had a demijohn break on me before... It was full of coins though! Went to lift it and SMASH. Do you use specific yeast for the wine or just let the naturally occurring stuff on the grapes go at it? Also what causes it to turn to vinegar? I really need to try some UK made wine, I've delivered to a vinyard in kent before but when I asked if they had any bottles I could buy they just laughed. Bottling day was the next day, hence the huge delivery of 8 tonnes of empty wine bottles!

    Home Brewing

I know a few of the guys here are also into home brewing... So here's what I'm up to! Back in the mid to late 80s my Dad used to brew his own beer. It fascinated me from about age 3 onwards. Especially the air locks bubbling away! At 5 my dad let me have a taste and it put me off alcohol entirely until my late teens and I firmly believe it removed the mystery of alcohol and kept me from abusing it. Anyway on to today! Currently got about 15 pints of my first ever home brew left. It was from a kit my parents bought me for christmas, It turned out pretty well! Only about half an hour's work and It keeps you in cheap alcohol for a month! I've also bitten the bullet and gone all-grain which has cost me a bit in equipment but its where the real fun is! As i'm still new its about 5-6 hours worth of work to brew a batch. I'm rather ambitious so went with my own recipe for the first batch. It turned out surprisingly well! Very unusual but pleasant taste as I used a smoked malt along with more conventional marris otter malt! I like fairly strong beer so this one is up around 6.5% - 7%! I have about 10 pints left of this in a MiniKeg plus 2 bottles due to be sent out as samples to friends! The kegs haven't carbonated well but the bottles should be good Its actually a lot paler in "real life" and please forgive the huuuge head on it. Not sure what happened there! Second all grain batch is fermenting now. A revised version of number 1 with additional crystal malt to darken the beer up and give it a bit more body. Plus an increase in the amount of hops. Hopefully be bottling and Kegging at the end of next week. This one's another strong un..... 1060 original gravity.... If it fully ferments out this could be 8% or so. Probably too strong but I can easily adjust the recipe next time to get it to a more sane level! I'm already thinking of what to do next if this turns out well. A bitter? Perhaps even a Lager if I can find a cheap fridge to ferment it all in?
  6. We have something very similar Shagrat... with jets providing CAS too... great fun having an Mi8 mark targets with smoke for a mig to then deliver ordnance... Then Mi8's or hueys sweeping in to deploy troops and capture the objective ;)
  7. It's growing on me every time new images are released!
  8. Will be trying this myself.
  9. I've used 5 turn wire-wound pots for my trim box. Resolution of more than 4500 steps so more than the Leo Bodnar board they are wired to. PERFECTLY clean signal too unlike cheap carbon track pots. If you want to avoid the cost of a multi turn pot consider using a 270 degree one with a really big knob on it... you can make tiny adjustments that way. However you have to be careful not to break the stops with all the leverage. Finally make certain you use pots with a linear response. Most audio pots use a logarithmic response and are useless for controllers
  10. And I bet you'd be unhappy if the various devs released WW2 era maps and units without a range of WW2 player aircraft to use.... Be patient and wait for the maps and units.
  11. Too much negativity here lately :(
  12. You forgot VEAO needing a range of carriers for planned modules too.. Digital Carrier Simulator is the future!
  13. Hmmm looks fun!
  14. Spot on = Perfect ;)
  15. Sounds seem pretty much spot on to me!
  16. Check out Freetrack and FacetrackNoIR too. Two free alternatives
  17. Hopefully it'll get implemented some day but I'm not holding my breath!
  18. Incase it hasn't been stated already... You no longer need to pause the service to get 6dof working Just run rift in extended mode, with DCS set to auto detect rift and turn cockpit shadows off. Also found a LOT of the stuttering issues are caused by SLI. If you are using it, disable it for when you use Rift. It also reduced head tracking lag and reduced motion sickness!
  19. Got a little video for you Tango. The usual issues with Rift head movement limits! I don't know what can be done as every module seems to be released with it. Is it a DCS limitation? Plus the mirror bug
  20. Absolutely. Great partner for the Mig21 and VEAO's planned EE Lightning. As to the usual "not another old junker" posts. This is just a poll. Dont worry! ED aren't gonna abandon the F/A-18 they are making based on a poll on the forums. As to it being a bit rubbish... Thats why I like it! It's the flaws in something that gives it character.
  21. Will do next time I fly!
  22. Why not "sim" and "game" modes like many other modules? Job done. As to the crazy stall, I hope that gets fixed!
  23. AMD and DCS are currently a bad combo I'm afraid. Hopefully DCS:2.0 will fix this!
  24. Remember there are third parties that haven't announced any WW2 modules yet. It's a profitable area so i'm sure there will be announcements of other aircraft. I'd be very surprised if we don't see the planeset more filled out and 'balanced' as time goes on!
  25. Have an annoying bug here... Textures turn sky blue at anything over about 500m... Just cannot see other c-101's until right next to them!
