  1. Design Analysis of the P-47 http://rwebs.net/avhistory/history/p-47.htm Also take at look at the GE turbocharger article.
  2. MH434 LFIX M66, to 222S 13-8-43, shot down a Fw190 9-43, 84GSU 15-6-44 ROS 7-7-44 Survived the war and was used as a photo a/c in BoB film. GSU Group Support Unit ROS Repair On Site Parties (Came under the control of MU's) Wasn't with a combat unit.
  3. Mk IV? ;);) Used a Griffon engine
  4. This should get you Juggers motivated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTbMKVuijE8
  5. Maybe some people shouldn't be so thin skinned seeing something that isn't there, AT ALL.
  6. If something so basic is wrong, then one must question what other more important things did they get wrong. http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Fw-190D/Focke-Wulf-Fw-190D/pages/Arteork-Jagdwaffe-Vol-5-Section-3-Defending-the-Reich-1943-44-pages-220-1.html
  7. Why does a company that prides itself on detail have the wrong RD band on the K-4? Red/yellow was assigned to JG301 and JG301 never had K-4s.
  8. 6000m, or just under 20kft, is a medium altitude. Again we have a late war German a/c vs a mid 1944 American a/c.
  9. Why not set up some tests where one pilot flies straight (no maneuvering) and another pilot pumps rounds into the other a/c from different angles of attack. The target pilot can comment on what is happening to his a/c. Then switch roles.
  10. 'Minus' would put the leading edge down and cause the nose to rise.
  11. As this is an early P-51D, it is nice to see that the real world undercarriage uplock failure is being modeled.
  12. BMW 801: The production curve for this engine is shown in Figure VII-5. Monthly data are given for each plant for the period 1942-1944. A raid on the Munich-Allach plant in March 1943 caused a loss of approximately 400 engines, or one month's production. Another attack in December 1943 caused a loss of about 200 engines. In May 1944 there was a heavy attack, but the effect cannot be distinguished from losses caused by dispersal. These losses mounted to several thousand engines. As a result of a raid in the summer of 1944 on the Klockner plant at Hamburg, licensee under BMW, operations were removed to Brno, Czechoslovakia. The attendant loss in production was approximately 700 engines. http://orbat.com/site/sturmvogel/airrep.html#Ch7 Lists monthly production of BMW801 engines
  13. This should get you started, http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/150grade/150-grade-fuel.html
  14. 8th and 15th AF. 15. One of the first Me262s was shot down was by Spitfire 9s of the RCAF, so P-51s shouldn't have much problems with them.
  16. Well, IRL that what was done. It was not a game and having fun.
  17. That is what wingmen are for. Where was your wingman? That is what happens with an early '44 a/c vs very late '44 a/c.
  18. Just pointing out the drawings are wrong, and which side tracked the discussion from the `bulge`subject.
  19. http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=37963 scroll down a bit and a photo of the top of the nose can be seen.
  20. There isn't a 'bulge' on the top. There is no flap on the top. If one looks at a top or bottom view, one will see a 'bulge'. The 'bulge' is an illusion tho as the fuselage is narrower to allow for more hot air to escape.
  21. Did the spacing of the MG131s increase from what it was on the A-8? A-8 is 260mm
  22. Yes Fox One. No competent pilot would have his tanks filled so that there would be CG shift. IMO, there should only be 100% fuel for the Dora to represent RL experience.
  23. 70 years later, to the month, won't make any difference.:devil_2:
  24. There are 2 filling points, one for each fuel tank. One is behind the air intake and the other in front of the rectangular hatch (starboard side) below the headrest. There is a fuel tank selector lever on the lower instrument panel, port side.
  25. Many pilots, on both sides, didn't like the new gyro gun sights. They changed their minds when they had more experience with them, so keep at it.
