Fat Mamba MkIII is back!!!!
Bourrinopathe replied to RFC Rudel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That's a good idea, indeed. At first, I was considering VKB's Throttle Box for a similar configuration (more like an additional control box). -
Fat Mamba MkIII is back!!!!
Bourrinopathe replied to RFC Rudel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was thinking about a 2-way momentary switch combined with a 3D-printed lever (or a (modified) spare mountain bike breaking lever). Pushing the lever with the finger(s) would have one function for the parking brakes, steering nose wheel lock, gear light, ACS on/off (?) (Su-27), etc. Squeezing the lever would be used for the brakes or anything else. The actuation force required seem to fit the functions. BTW adding any new axis is not possible using the Mamba stick 5 pins connection, unfortunately. The tricky part would be to assemble all the parts in a compact and resistant design using the current stick as a base. But that seems doable. -

That's an hypnotic wallpaper ;) I'd like that grip with the new gimbal, pretty please :music_whistling: (I was thinking about modding the original Mamba grip, again…) - additional thumb push button - momentary 2-way switch (near the index) (instead of a more complex 4-way hat) (I like the idea of the bi-directional switch aligned with the raised index angle) - momentary 2-way pinky lever (why not?) - 4-way clickable hat (Warthog-like) because I really need to manage the CM with the stick I don't even know if it's doable with the current stick wire connections (5) and that's 10 more "buttons". I know… I'm dreaming ;) -

MkIII incoming! Get ready and stop drooling ;) Some news about the MkIII orders (getting ready to be shipped). >>> VKB Sim / Stratojet announcement (english) <<< Fat Black Mamba (with the new gimbal) The new gimbal: Hopefully, it won't take too long before we can get our hands on those devices. -
Bump. It's probably related to the same dynamic lights issues reported previously. I thought it would be fixed in 1.5 release. Let's hope they're not struggling with that specific bug and that they're modifying the rendering process or something. Just for reference, some related posts: [DUPLICATE] Still no light reflections... landing light effect on fuselage gone? Objects not illuminated by taxi lights (I can't find the [REPORTED] one, but it should be there, somewhere) As you mentioned, it's unfortunate it prevents completing some missions. My guess is it's a visual effect bug and it may not be on top of the bugs "most wanted" list. It still affects some missions but not a large part of the simulation. At least, it's how I see it and it will probably be fixed as soon as they squash more important bugs. Sometimes I'd like DCSW to be an open source project, so many qualified users could help improving the engine ;)

I'd buy one, even if I already own a DIY headtracking device and I'm very pleased with it. A low profile wireless solution with great performances is all I need ;) Your solution can be very popular within several communities (DCS, Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, IL2, BMS, etc.). If it looks and performs as good as advertised it will probably be very successful! (and yes: ban the wires, please :thumbup:)

F-16A -> QF-16 [need help - texturing]
Bourrinopathe replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in Liveries/Skinning
I'd like to remove the pilot while the aircraft is flying. The static F-16s don't have any pilot so it's pretty convincing, but unfortunately, I can't select any active aircraft with the Play Argument action. -

Bourrinopathe replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in Liveries/Skinning
Thanks for your help. Do you mean the Play Argument (trigger action)? (I had no idea what Arg50 could mean ;) ) In the ME, it seems available for the static objects only. As a quick fix, I asked the staff to place a dummy instead: Too bad we can't see that face :) -
F-16A -> QF-16 [need help - texturing]
Bourrinopathe replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in Liveries/Skinning
Ok, I managed to declare and use a new skin for the pilot but unfortunately the model does not allow an alpha channel on the pilot. Unless I missed something I can't remove the pilot with a transparent texture. In case someone could use the reference, the pilot texture is declared as follows: livery = { {"texture pilot-usa-af-okras.bmp f2 g0",0,"your custom pilot texture",false}; -- pilot texture {"texture pilot-usa-hole.bmp f2 g0",0,"your custom tube texture",false}; -- oxygen tube } -
VKB T-Rudder Pedals - Review
Bourrinopathe replied to rrohde's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ah, thanks rrohde. I've updated the post with the valid link. :thumbup: One of the new features is the settings partial writing. When you choose to apply the new settings you can choose what you want (curves, axis calibration, etc.). Also, you can calibrate a specific axis (check the "Partial Calibration" box in the settings tab). A new skin management is included but I don't even know how to modify it ^^ (and don't need to, anyway) I don't think you'd benefit from the new firmware at this time. It will probably become more interesting with the upcoming virtual brake axis software (and when you'll receive your BM). I've just updated the firmwares and the software, and everything is fine with my T-Rudder and Black Mamba. -
VKB T-Rudder Pedals - Review
Bourrinopathe replied to rrohde's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the thread and the guide, guys! (I'd +rep if I could ;) ) If anyone need a procedure to update the firmware, here's how to do it: The firmwares and the VKB Device Config software beta versions are available, >>> HERE <<< (the stable versions are available from the FTP (firmwares)) You will need the Zbootloader-C.exe from the FTP. Download the latest VKB Device Config software from the first post on this thread. Download and extract the latest beta firmware (available beta firmwares) Run the ZBootloader-C.exe and select the firmware (*.vkb) Select your device in the Device Config software Hit the "Bootloader" button in the Tools tab (the window will disappear and the bootloader will be ready to update the firmware) Hit the "Flash It!" button in the Z-Bootloader Once the process is finished, unplug your device and plug it back in. The new version number will be displayed in the VKB Device Config software. Please, keep in mind those are beta versions and some issues may occur. If you don't want to risk your current device configuration, wait for a stable release (FTP). -
Killer feature. Would jam it with my fingers again. молодец!

Hi, I'm trying to create a QF-16 livery and I don't know how to define a custom pilot texture for that skin only (I'll alpha it out). The pilot texture is: pilot-usa-af-okras.bmp.dds How should I declare it in the description.lua? (I'm using the stock F-16A model) I already assigned the skin to the Aggressor's "country" and it's perfectly usable in the sim (OpenAlpha Nevada). Any help would be greatly appreciated :thumbup:

Nice liveries! Thanks for sharing, sheth0s! There's a paranormal amount of Yaks in my skies now ;)

I knew my Mirage kung fu was weak. ^^ -
I'm pretty sure we'll see many conversions and new liveries in the upcoming weeks. [ EDITED by Bourrinopathe ] [the linked liveries were not from Coronaman - the original authors should have been contacted for permission - Thanks]

Fantastic! Thanks a lot. :thumbsup: Please, do include the cockpit textures, so it can be translated and/or modified more easily ;)

First start Nevada. Plane goes all the way left! Why?

First start Nevada. Plane goes all the way left! Why?
Bourrinopathe replied to Nedum's topic in M-2000
It's surprising for sure. I just flew the "Cold Start" instant mission and landed at Groom Lake. The ME shows a crosswind coming from 71° to the left at 4 m/s (rwy 32R). Nothing brutal, but when the nose wheel touched down the Mirage was pushed to the left so severely that I couldn't correct the trajectory with the rudder (without nose wheel steering). Unless I'm doing something wrong, I really don't understand that behavior. Otherwise: Really happy with my brand new hairdryer 2000… -
Mirage 2000 C already out for DCS 2.0 NTTR

:doh: I couldn't help it! -
Par les c....... de Zeus ! Quel bonheur à piloter ! Merci Razbam ! :doh: From the T-O instant action mission (flying with buddies :thumbup:): I don't know anything about the flight model fidelity but years ago I had the opportunity to test a real Mirage 2000-5 simulator while working with Dassault. I can only remember the impressive roll rate (one of the well known M2000's and Rafale's features) and the overall agility. Thanks for allowing us to get as close as possible to the real thing!

Hey Thanks for the info! Much appreciated. That was fast. They updated the open alpha at the same time apparently. It's time to take a selfie next to "The Murage" ;)
