  1. This issue seems to be similar to the experience I'm having with the Mosquito propellors in Dcs at the moment. They were not always like this which seems to make me think there is a solution already in the sim.
  2. I have ran dcs only briefly with motion smoothing before having to dissable it. The props in vr certainly look bag regardless of motion smoothing or not and having an option to change the effect would be helpful for everyone's preference. Cinematic - as they are now, albeit with the weird lighting issue resolved for vr Realistic - shouldn't be as visible when at higher rpms. Invisible when running - for fps
  3. Plenty of people in DCS are using FFB. It may not be the majority but we are here. DCS is one of the few flight sims that has a force feedback option built in, so supporting it is appreciated. Especially things like the issues with the curves which has been around since lock on and in reality it shouldn't be a massive faff to resolve, but it would need someone to look into it. I'm a bit confused by the attitude of saying you should be gifted a ffb stick to work on this. As a company the usual attitude is to try and cater to all audiences. Ffb is supported in dcs so it should be kept in a good state. I've been desperately trying to get it fixed for some time and no doubt will still be in the future. But hey ho
  4. Hi all, sorry I'm reviving another thread here. It now does seem that there is an issue with the prop feathering. I could get them to feather and unfeather on the ground when the engines are off. Once in the air I shut down the right engine, brought the throttle back and prop lever (although unsure as to why this is required). And... Nothing, the prop rpm didn't really decrease form its running rpm. I'd appreciate it if someone could have a look and confirm if it's just me or if there is an issue with the prop feather now. Apologies I did run a test to save a track but it didn't save. Edit: I'm not mad, just blind. Already see it has been reported. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/311505-unable-to-feather-either-engine-since-28-update/#comment-5084035
  5. Would be great if this was looked into and fixed. Again would be nice if the prop effect in general was looked at again because it is more cinema and less real life.
  6. Just chiming in on this thread to say that the prop effects in the sim are something that you'd get through a video camera, clearly a cinematic effect and not what your eyes see. I can live with that, although ideally they'd be barely visible apart from when running at low rpm. The issue now experienced in vr is that the reflections/prop effect seems to be slightly different in each eye making them stand out more. Making the mosquito rather horrible to fly.
  7. In the past I could run shadows with my setup. Now they have to be off otherwise I lose about 10-20 fps. Game looks horrible without those shadows as well.
  8. Glad there is a thread on this, I have noticed it for quite a while. The option should be either to allow you to use Takeoff assistance or force it off, not force it on!
  9. Just jumped into the mossie after not going on dcs for a while. Noticed the props appear to have a bit of a flicker to them which is vomit inducing in dcs. Please can this be looked into? Also I have said it before, in the real world once up at flight rpm the prop discs aren't that visible.
  10. One of the issues mentioned here is the fact that with curves applied it really messes up the trim, this is actually the case on most(all?) of the aircraft. It would be magical if after years and years of me begging if this could be resolved. When FFB is enabled and a curve is applied, the trimmer should move proportional to the curve. Not as if it was still linear, this is actually more obvious on some of the jets (su27 springs to mind) with curves applied on the '27 you cannot actually trim the nose far enough down.
  11. Interesting to see that after all this time, it has clearly been abandoned. Why would anyone purchase another product from M3 if they cannot keep their current products up to date?
  12. Trying to bump this thread since it still has been ignored for all the piston aircraft. Still no improvement to this in the sim, with any of the aircraft (especially the merlin powered ones). The flames are not realistic and that can be seen in the mossie night run videos above(not massively visible at night so certainly not visible in the daytime). Once this is resolved then smoke should be looked into, on startup and various power settings (ie. Running at low idle).
  13. Just like all the other ww2 aircraft, for some reason the exhaust flames are very visible. In most cases in the real world they aren't, apart from at evening and dusk. During that time they don't look like the engine is on fire either.
  14. If you land somewhere without ground crew, you are stranded. You should be able to send your other crewmember outside to prime the engines!
  15. Thanks for the info! Is there anything I need to do to run openxr?
  16. Hi all, comically I was just searching to see if I could find a fix for this issue... and found my own thread. Just wondering if anyone found a magic band aid for this?
  17. The difference between real world and dcs is that some of these as baked in and do not change at all. So you are seeing some overly visible static textures that stand out too much.
  18. I think the point is that the wake is dramatic on the same size and type of aircraft. Like yes a small aircraft would get thrown around by a slow and clean F14 but a f18 would be effected less. I haven't tested it recently, does the turbulence dissapate as it should over the ground or not? This was a bit issue for some online servers as aircraft would be damageed and flung into the ground due to the wake not going away.
  19. Yeah agreed. Really needs looking at, all the piston aircraft really.
  20. One of the common examples online of warbit flying is kermit weeks. In this video here you can see him starting up the p51c (from cold). Just like in other piston engined aircraft the oil pressure slowly rises and does not rocket up above the red line. The only thing is rotax engines are a bit different than the usual aero engines as standard so maybe that's an outlier. The only engines I have flown with are lycoming, continental and austro and they all start low and build up.
  21. On the p51 and all piston modules on startup the oil pressure shoots up to over the red line even at low power settings (1000-1200rpm). Usually in aircraft the oil pressure starts low and slowly rises to normal and if it doesn't rise in a about 30 seconds you shut down and abort the flight. Unsure if all the ww2 aircraft are different from usual aero engines but dcs does not exhibit this.
  22. OK that's a fine suggestion. But my wishlist suggestion means that there isn't actually a need for that. The crew member would be competent and able to prime the engine, so why restrict the operation of the mossie?
  23. Thanks for claifiying. Did wonder as the old carbed aircraft I have flown have had accelerator pumps on.
  24. Hi all, Not posting in the bug section as I'm not 100% on this one. So if I shutdown the mosquito in flight I can airstart it by getting the prop to windmill and it fires up. If I keep it feathered and try start it, I get no start. On the ground after a flight, I have tried restarting at an airfield which doesn't have ground crew, unable to start. I tried pumping the throttle, as the engine has carbs I assumed it would pump some fuel in. Again nothing. Just wondering if this should be expected, or if as I am suggesting we should be able to start up by forcing some fuel in with the throttle?
