Excellent, thanks for the explanation. I assumed if it was modeled that way in the sim it's because of a different set up to modern day. Thanks!
-
Thanks, I thought I had seen it in the past reported as not a bug. Hence my question. The way I understand the boost coil would only work if the mags are actually turned on. Watching P51 startup videos on YouTube like kermit weeks (I know not great to use as a source but hey ho) they always count so many blades before turning the mags on, in DCS you can't do that since the engine catches well before that. To me it seems like some weird logic that that is how it is wired up. Not saying it's wrong if it is proven, but would appreciate some documentation actually showing that this is correct.
-
Maybe I didn't explain it very well.. The engine runs if the starter is held in, as if the mags are turned on. Which should not happen as far as any aircraft I understand or know about. As the magneto is what provides the spark, so with them off the engine should turn over, but not catch and start. Hope that explanation sort of makes sense, in the current state I belive it is inaccurate unless someone can show me some documentation which says it is correct that there is a spark in the cylinder when the starter switch is engaged.

Hi all, This has long been something that has confused me. Haven't posted it in the hug section yet as I'm not sure if the P51 has a weird set up. I have always noticed that the engine catches before Hi all, I haven't posted this in the bug section as I'm not sure it is yet. Hoping we can confirm if it is correct or not. Usually with these aircraft you would start by holding down the starter and counting the prop blades, before turning the mags on and introducing a spark into the mix. This does not work in DCS. When the starter is held the engine actually fires up. If you keep the starter held down the engine will continue to run, even if the mags are off. To me this seems very wrong, can someone wiser please confirm or deny?

Not sure if I have a poor set of setting however in vr the stuttering is frequent and makes it quite unpleasant. Which is a shame since in between the stutters it's greatly improved.

Can anyone speculate as to why my stuttering is worse when using motion reprojection? Usually I see everyone saying that's a help, but to me it gets far worse.

Abandoned? (Update: No, a Fun Plane + Good Module)
hazzer replied to Gasman6's topic in Christen Eagle II
Hello all. Whilst I'm glad to see the CEII has received an update. I believe there is still an issue with the LOD model (lack of) meaning massive fps drops for folk in eyeline of the aircraft on MP. The sounds have been updated, however they really aren't anything like the actual aircraft. I look forward to future updates, hopefully more frequently than the gap between the last updates. -
Hi, I had a similar experience (although not bluescreen but half my programs crashed and then the pc rebooted). I had to turn textures from high to low. Then the game would run. Looking at task manager my memory went to 100% and then this happened. So could help you possibly.

+engine feathering doesnt work. Stopped functioning around november.

I don't disagree. I have all ww2 modules as I live flying them. I don't actually own the asset pack as it isn't anyway near what I'd expect yet to justify the purchase.

Can we expect some upates for the mosquito soon? Seems to have gone quiet with regards to bug fixes and getting it feature complete (plenty of good suggestions in the wish list as well). Many thanks.
-
Back again, just jumped in the Dora after about 2 years and the prop effect on that looks like the mosquito and the helicopter one. It isn't the same image in each eye it seems which makes it horrific to look at. It's worse in this compared to the mosquito since you are looking through the prop to fly.

Hi all, has anyone managed to look into this yet?

no bug High Oil Pressure, slowly increasing oil temperature
hazzer replied to Ramires's topic in Bugs and Problems
Anyone managed to look at this at all? I tried to post it on discord as well however the ED bot deleted my message twice. -
Last time I checked it does not have a full damage model which would explain this. There are some basic expectations of a DCS product that was put to the side because the original customer didn't want them. This has led to us not getting a full fledged product which we expected. I hoped we would get more things like the yak in dcs, however my feelings changed 1 year after release with the lack of updates etc. The lack of motivation for supporting the product paid for, because its a lower earner and a low priority is disappointing. I imagine it didn't earn enough to wet the appetite to produce anything similar. Same thoughts for the CEII.
-
I am in the same boat. I own almost everything, but have stopped in recent times due to issues being overlooked, being told products we have paid for aren't a priority etc. It is very disappointing and can only hope there is positive change ahead. I find when I go on DCS I see an issue with an aircraft I am fairly familiar with, go to the forum to report it... and find a post or thread that I have made years prior. I still do enjoy DCS but it does take away the shine.

Unable to feather either engine since 2.8 update.

No progress on fixing this? -
Hi all. Every warbird I have flown in dcs appears to have an excessively high oil pressure on start. P51, Spitfire, Mosquito, P47. If you followed the checklist for these aircraft, especially the merlin variety and set the engine around 1000-1200rpm to warm up you would exceed the oil max oil pressure. This is something that is all too easy to do in dcs, something isn't correct. On startup the oil pressure rockets up super high, in reality it slowly builds up and would only go over the max pressure with some serious miss management. See below video of kermit weeks starting his p51d. You can see the oil pressure gauge in the corner of the screen and it slowly rises, but never above the max rpm and is lower than our oil pressure(his rpm gauge appears to be inop at the start). I please request you to take a look at this bug as it is not reliastic for the aircraft in this sim. Many thanks. See forum post below (especially recent comment)

Hello, do we any update on this? -
Hi all, I must apologies at the start of this post, I'm not trying to poke the bear or cause any issues. I don't play DCS as much as I used to and when I do I find myself coming on here asking the same questions I have been asking for years. I see for the first time in quite a while the yak has an update but just for the "cooling system". Please my I request when the yak will be getting other updates. I still see it as unfinished and not really out of beta. Looking at the bugs, none have been fixed. It still looks like there is no LOD model for the aircraft, is that correct? I understand it is not a big earner but why make the effort of making cake mixture if you aren't going to put bake it?

That would be great. It feels like the engine simulation is not as advanced as it could be. For all aircraft (jet and piston).

no bug High Oil Pressure, slowly increasing oil temperature
hazzer replied to Ramires's topic in Bugs and Problems
Was looking through YouTube to try and find a suitable cold start video. The only one I can find so far is of kermit weeks starting the p51C. Not the same but still relevant. You can just about see the oil pressure gauge on start up and it doesn't leap up and go off the scale as in DCS but instead remains within limits and quite low. @NineLine please can you revisit this and mark as a bug - this counts for most or all of the piston aircraft in the sim. Many thanks, https://youtu.be/iompxanAQgQ -
no bug High Oil Pressure, slowly increasing oil temperature
hazzer replied to Ramires's topic in Bugs and Problems
Many thanks for this. Glad to see that it's not just me. Yesterday I flew the p51 in game and noticed the oil pressure actually went off the gauge/way higher than it should. More so than in the past (temperature in game was about 20°c) so very incorrect. Hope these things are looked into. -
no bug High Oil Pressure, slowly increasing oil temperature
hazzer replied to Ramires's topic in Bugs and Problems
Not to rehash an old thread but is there any documentation stating that a high oil pressure is to be expired on startup as depicted in the sim? It seems bizzar to me that the pressure builds so quickly and then goes off the gauge. My experience (albeit in much lower powered aircraft) is that the oil pressure slowly builds on start up. Certainly if it went off the gauge that would be cause for concern and would shutdown immediately. I seem to recall the P51 oil pressure goes above the max line.. This is all starting up and not bringing the rpm above 1000. -
wip Flickering rotors makes me feel ill in VR
hazzer replied to loiphin's topic in Bugs and Problems
This issue seems to be similar to the experience I'm having with the Mosquito propellors in Dcs at the moment. They were not always like this which seems to make me think there is a solution already in the sim.
