  1. Well humming claims 610kph at SL. And 595kph also was said that this report is just a rough estimate, just like the ROC value between 22m/s of the original and DCS's 26m/s.
  2. I was just replying to the Humming claims that 109 is still too slow(because he got result of 575kph), even though YoYo said it is going to be 575kph. I didn't see anything that really proved 610kph that Hummingbird wants.
  3. I don't see any reason for your hostility. Calm down. You are talking to a person that reported issues with climb rates ( changed from 31m/s to 26m/s) and changes to Fw190 (29m/s to 26m/s). Together with others like Pillum and Grape Jam and Kenobi etc. And yes I've read the thread! I saw YoYo say that it should be around 575kph at page 3 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2613565&postcount=18 It seems the case was closed indeed, if the 109K4 now flies exactly like YoYo said it would.
  4. 610kph at SL? According to the data available it is 610kph at 1000m and 590 at SL. Also take into consideration the temperature outside. What we do not know though if that data is actually accurate. The same data source points out that K4 should have 22m/s ROC while DCS K4 has 26m/s. These estimates that Germans did, may also be innacurate when it comes to speed in level flight. While these sources claim that the K4 should be capable of 580kph at SL with WEP, and it lists the engine power at 1800PS which means 1.8ata, while at the same time the engine used is DB605DC. Still it would be the closest to what we have in DCS if it is actually that the K4 flies 575kph at SL. Last time I've checked P-51D was also a bit too slow, when compared to what data say's, so that just might be the DCS engine producing worse performance in level speed department just to keep other stats close to what they should be.
  5. JCOM. Maybe the engine cannot comprehend two trimming ways at once for the same control type. One via elevator trim tab and second as horizontal stabilizer.
  6. Remember that NTTR is higher above Sea Level.
  7. Mate. Even with clipped wings you would be slower than both. But with elliptic wing u will be away better turning than both and have a roll rate similar to the K4. You will also have superior climb rate of 29m/s because it is going to be a 25lbs version.
  8. No. Because P51 is the slowest plane currently. Supposedly ED is going to give us.more powerful engine setting. Turn against the Dora and B&Z the K4. Both of those German planes are late war limited versions that have superior speed If you try to run from them, they will both catch you. Always take 40% of fuel for standard small missions to be sure that you will get that extra manoeuvrability. You can outdive the K4 though, but remember, he will catch up after some time.
  9. I am not a Spitfire expert... but I am pretty sure lots of Spitfires used eliptical wing. Moreover, even Spitfire Mk XIV has eliptical wings in some versions. According to wiki:smartass:, tips were attachable and detachable. That is why you have the same wing, just with 3 different types of tips. Eliptical beeing the standard. Long for high altitude. Clipped for low level flying. Of course there were units that were using each of those variants, and I am still sure the eliptical was more common in 1944. I would like to have both... but realy... eliptical has more interesting dynamics. The standard eliptical Spitfire has quite heavy aileron's, very similar to the Bf109, at high speeds, but at the same time it has very light elevator. But eliptical wing has also an advantage of beeing more stable during turning at low speeds and has higher stalling speed which improves sustained turning, a thing that Spitfire will actually have to use to survive against the wunderwaffe of DCS :smilewink: I realy hope though that the 25lbs boost for Merlin 66 will translate into improved performance for V-1650-7 of the P-51D. Afterall, that power was only sutainable with 150oct fuel (44-1) and it is 81'hg of MAP :3
  10. No, the AI is not overheating and is actually pushing the envelope a bit more than a human would at expert level. Just keep your speed at above 200mph and gain some altitude. I flew nearly a whole sortie at 61' and 3000RPM when I have forgotten to lower the fuel state... so to burn it I was going military power most of the time. If you are fast enough and everything is in auto mode, nothing will happen to your engine. Also, don't move the throttle up too rapidly, especially during a dive.
  11. I think that DCS theme about spitfire should be something similar in tone to the Battle of Britain theme. Uplifting yet not joyous. Maybe that kind of spin on the DCS world main theme?
  12. It really seems near ideal. Just the altimeter could be at a different location as it is obstructed by the throttle. One of the best cockpits ergonomically though.
  13. Yaaaaay :3
  14. Sorry but they are not HE. They are M8 API Armour-Piercing-Incendiary. Which can blow up and set fire to ammo, fuel fumes and other flammable objects on an aircraft. But yes we miss some ammo types for P-51D and I have made a thread about it. Check this thread for more info on M2 HMG 12,7mm ammunition used during WW2 :3 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143224
  15. Horten never flew a single combat mission during ww2 and only one that want damaged or crashes during testing was constructed in the US of A.
  16. They are too weak, and hard to spot. [ame] [/ame] [ame] [/ame] They need improvment.
  17. Because they aren't stationed in Korea but in England instead, under great care from our ground crews, who polish them every day for us :)
  18. I think most guys here want to have easy kills just by shooting in BVR. From what I saw BVR works IRL only with AWACS and against MiG21,23 and 25. That might not have pilots that know what is really going on. Here you fight against F15C that is fully aware of what is going on. I am a noob and I dough 1v1 against my friend and he shot me down in bvr 80% of the time. Why? Because he knows what he is doing. I didn't xD
  19. Wasn't Phoinex missle dropped because of the lack of maneuverability which lead to being poor missile against fighters? Maybe I am wrong but the purpose of the missile was long range interception of bombers right?
  20. Would you even feel good with a kill like that? I don't count bombers as kills really.
  21. And it seems we are getting the elliptical wing.:smartass:
  22. Grass strips would be awesome for MP. More fields to take off from = less vulching
  23. I presume reason for the governor failure is one. If governor doesn't fail, i am afraid nothing will. Engine DM is not good enough. But I agree, that getting damaged through a whole plane is just weird.
  24. F16C Block 52, P38J, B25 would be my picks.
  25. I really want to see some Japanese plane. Especially a Zero A6M5, a good enemy for the F4U-1D or something like N1K or Ki84. For the US P38. F6F. And B25.
