  1. I believe people are refering to the sound that starts at around 44 seconds in (the whooshy/windy kind of sound) I guess that is just some closer distance sound that starts to fade in. Fades are difficult to control, maybe that is it. You can also slightly hear it around 2:37 I guess that is just some aspect of the sound that stands out in some cases because it fades in. In my experience with helicopter fly-bys in real life they have a wide range of different sounds. Sometimes you hear the blades, other times they can't be heard at all, same with the engine sounds. Lately I even heard a UH-1 where you almost couldn't hear the loud blade noise. I guess it is very complicated to mimic and what we hear is some fade in difference that stands out a bit. But I would not call that awful at all. I think it sounds great in general. There is just some rough edges maybe. As can be expected with something as difficult as helicopter noise. Listen to this video of KA-52s and all the different nuances in sound, it's like incredibly difficult to model/simulate They did a great job.
  2. I love the effect
  3. To me the new Ka-50 sound is better than the old one. So far I thought it sounds really nice.
  5. Wings to 55° works for me. Also it is more difficult to refuel at the small Viking than with bigger tankers, because you can't see it very well behind the canopy frame. The big tankers give better visual reference. It is easier to judge your alignment or drifts if you see the tankers tail and wing for reference. Another thing that helped me was to just back off and try again if you miss the hose. If you try to correct the alignment in the last moment you naturally tend to start oscillations. So if you miss, back off and try again from a distance. No worries, you will get there eventually.
  6. I also have the same problem, this is still the case in the current beta version.
  7. The book "Mil Mi-24 Hind Attack Helicopter, by Yefim Gordon and Dmitriy Komissarov, Page 11" states
  8. can confirm
  9. I hope this is a bug that can be fixed, because it is really difficult to find targets with this display.
  10. Article on Mi-24D Getting in front of the Mi-24 Hind https://www.verticalmag.com/features/getting-front-mi-24-hind/ EDIT: The article links to the video Mi-24 Photo Shoot
  11. Could wind be involved? Online, I once had to abort a landing on the Tarawa when it was turning and moving with the wind. As far as I know in the real life Harrier the air exits the nozzles and is reflected off the ground outward and also upward in the center, improving lift. If wind shifts the upward column of air away from the aircraft, you will need more power to maintain a hover. Also if the wind comes from the rear during the approach the lift of the wings will be reduced.
  12. Thanks to everyone for all the nice work! Developing simulations sure is no easy task. Thanks for sticking to it. I am having a lot of fun with your creations!
  13. Looks great, looking forward to it, thanks!
  14. Thanks to both of you!
  15. Sorry, I am not trying to fight your opinion, I was only trying to separate the issues so the devs have the option to fix at least part of the problem without a community backlash of the kind of "...ok the button is fixed, but what about the tones!!!". And I was also trying to get a vote in, so that the devs can see that people would like to have this fixed. I am on your side. I am not a native english speaker, so please don't get the impression that I am trying to get into a fight or anything if something sounds that way. My impression was that the RWR tones and the button behaviour are constantly mentioned together in these threads and I just wanted to clarify that it would be nice in my opinion if the devs could fix at least the button, and that the tones can be fixed later, also in my opinion. What I meant was that it is 'not so important' for me at the moment. I believe implementing the audio cues could be a big undertaking (maybe even impossible due to existing agreements) and the devs might not have the time for that at the moment. Fixing the button behaviour might be easier on the other hand and make at least some of us happy for a while :) Still, having the tones aswell would be awesome of course! I believe so too, but I don't know if that is true. I hope the devs can figure it out with the resources they have and the additional information you all provided to them.
  16. If the Search mode button functionality is currently wrong it would be nice to have this fixed, as constantly switching it on and off is more workload. A fix for the sounds would be nice too, but this can wait in my opinion.
  17. Thanks to Maulkin for asking, and to PiedDroit for clarifying! I also was not sure about this problem.
  18. I think there is a bit of movement visible at 1:49 on the right trailing edge but could also just be an illusion and the effects of the heat in the air. Also not sure if this is what bkthunder requests or the pilot touching the stick.
  19. similar here. Can't seem to slow below 100 knots with only aerobraking.
  20. Thanks for the nice update! Looking forward to escorting Hueys.
  21. Did this yesterday. It is indeed a very smooth transition. Your user will already be logged in. You only have to sync the modules once in the module manager in the main menu of DCS and DCS will download your modules. Then for the M2000 you enter the serial manually in the module manager in the DCS main menu after purchase. All my control and graphics settings from the Steam install transitioned over into the standalone installation. Note that I still had the Steam installation at that time, if that is required.
  22. Like the new looks of the menus and all the nice improvements to the game. Awesome work, thanks to everyone involved!
  23. Weird, thought I did try this once. Will try it again next time. Thanks!
  24. This probably has nothing to do with the Mi-8 but maybe somebody knows what is going on. I sometimes join multiplayer maps where the Red team has Mi-8s and the Blue team has Hueys. Now if I choose an Mi-8 slot, I often can't even move the cyclic. It just doesn't move inside the cockpit when I move my joystick. But I can hop over into a Huey of the Blue team and everything works fine. It is just the Mi-8 slots that don't work. Another player once confirmed that they had the same issue with the Mi-8. So I usually leave those servers/maps and try to stay away from them, because it seems server/map related. One example would be Server: DCS Israel Map: Under Attack 0.87 but it happened in multiple servers/maps. Seems like it is always the same behaviour in some maps. But not all. I can fly Mi-8s fine in other multiplayer missions. Does anybody know what causes this? Is it some multiplayer server slot limitation, locking certain aircraft? Or is the map scripting just bugged and nobody reports it to be fixed? It is driving me nuts. :)
