  1. It's official, ping filter doesn't like me :(
  2. The dev's have said it will be able to carry the Exocet.
  3. And it would go so well along side the F/A-18C :D Granted we have F/A-18A+'s and B's. Although our A+'s are close enough to the C :P
  4. I think it's safe to say that if the Mirage 2000C S-5 had the capability to fire those missiles (whether the French, or whoever, employed said missiles or not) then we will get the capability to fire those missiles. Of course that goes both ways. If it did not have the capability to fire said missiles, then we won't get that capability. But as far as I'm aware, the devs have said that it does have the capability to use the missiles in question. As has been said, it's not so much a question of whether anyone used them on the particular variant that we're getting, but more a question of whether that variant has the capability or not.
  5. From memory, it was sitting around or just below 400.
  6. Well it was fun while it lasted. Kangaroo flight is RTB
  7. I'd like to join blue please. Lonewolf ( :( ) Callsign (until someone gives me a better one) : Rudolph Preferred aircraft: F-15 (but will do anything really)
  8. It does work! But only in single player... The problem is the way that fighters are grouped in MP. Rather than having 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 etc., we have 1-1, 2-1, 3-1. It's also something that we've been told is going to be fixed in DCS 2.
  9. Just quietly hoping for an F-111 >.>
  10. Pretty sure there isn't. VEAO's KC-30 will be able to refuel the Mirage, though.
  11. I'd say this is a pretty accurate assessment, for me at least. I really enjoy flying the Su-27, but I just can't look past the advantages that the F-15 enjoys in the form of active missiles (not to mention its RWR). As much as I like flying the Flanker, I also enjoy scoring victories and not getting splashed myself, and I find myself being much more proficient at this when I have AMRAAM's at my disposal. If only we had a Flanker capable of carrying R-77's! I suppose all I can do is eagerly await the MiG-29's A/PFM ^.^
  12. If I see an IR launch, I'm not worried about the missile because IR missiles are relatively easy to defeat with some good throttle control (i.e. slam it to idle ^.^) and flares, if you know they're coming. What I'm more worried about, in that situation, is that aircraft getting in a position to gun me.
  13. 1. B 2. A 3. C 4. A
  14. There is a separate control for dumping fuel tanks. It will dump all tanks at once, and doesn't run the risk of unintentionally dropping your weapons.
  15. We always knew damage models were strange but... oh my... :megalol:
  16. Move your throttle forward a bit and then back to idle, then try.
  17. I didn't even notice the P-38 there lol. I was talking about when you click the DCS MiG-21 tab on their site. Edit: As Exile has linked. I also can't help but notice that the F-4 seems to have the most detail out of any of those background images... :music_whistling: That being said, they all look quite detailed. Especially the nose of that lightning!
  18. I couldn't help but notice the F6F Hellcat and the F-4 Phantom in the background on their website. Is it possible that they are the two being done, or would that be too obvious? :P
  19. The problem with the MiG-25 is its armament. The MiG-25's R-40's don't have a range comparable to the AIM-54. This is of course if Wikipedia is to be believed. Yes, yes, I know wiki stats for missiles are practically worthless because you aren't given any information about the launch parameters. But with a difference in range of over 100km, even on wiki, it at least gives us an indication that the missiles have vastly different range capabilities. The MiG-31's R-33's seem, at least on the surface, more comparable to the AIM-54. Edit: Please someone tell me I'm wrong! I'd love to see a MiG-25 that can compete with the F-14 in long range BVR in DCS >.<
  20. Grr! I wish my teamspeak didn't disconnect when 3 people speak! >.<I feel like this would have been a great opportunity to get some practice in with the Flanker.
  21. Hey Ktulu2, Yeah, sorry about the video quality. It's actually all recorded in 1080p 60fps. But I didn't want the file size to be too big because Aussie upload speed leaves much to be desired :P That and it was my first ever go at doing a video, so I didn't really have much of an idea about what I was doing when it came to rendering. I think my biggest issue with that first fight was that I was in Nav mode when I went to fire xD If I had actually gotten a shot off, I think that fight would have been over much quicker. He would have either died or ended up defensive. If that was the case, I would have been able to turn back onto him in a much more advantageous position. And like you say about not having the enemy on your scope when fired upon, usually if I have an opponent in that close I wouldn't continue to press into them, because that's just suicidal. In this case, I thought that I was able to shoot, which is why I didn't break until I did. I knew I had time to press just a little longer, to increase the Pk of my missile that was never fired (lol). Then, in that merge, I do admit that my maneuvering was pretty sloppy, and the only reason I won that was because he decided to try and disengage (maybe he lost sight of me?). In the second fight, I fired my first shot at 10 miles, which is around where I usually shoot from. I might have waited a little longer in this case, but since I had been shot at, I fired at 10 miles and defended. As for jamming, I generally don't like to use it unless I know the opponent can see me. I used it in that case because I didn't want him taking any shots at long range to put me defensive. Once I had burned through his jammer, I turned mine off. I will definitely take your advice on the PRF setting. I never really considered changing that, but I suppose I really should. And I didn't mean to fire an AIM-7 there :P And I usually do move the scan height up and down, but in this case we kept our radar off for a lot of the time, and relied on AWACS to point us in the right direction. In the last clip, I was running low on chaff because I spent a lot of time defending against SAM's. That's the reason I did a bit of skipping there. I wanted to cut down on the video length, and there was a couple of minutes of just avoiding SAM's. I got myself in quite a pickle there :P I do pride myself a little on my trigger discipline (except for at the end of the video, where I fired 3 missiles from terrible positions :P ). I used to fire missiles of in pairs (With a bit of spacing between them, of course) But I often found that the first missile often hit, making the second missile redundant. Of course there are occasions where you need to fire a missile to put your opponent on the defensive, but for me, those occasions are few and far between. Usually I'll be firing a missile from a position where I am confident that it will hit (Usually inside 10 miles). I don't fire pairs any more, unless I'm shooting at multiple targets, of course ;)
  22. Hi everyone! This is my first attempt ever at making a video, so I was hoping I could stick it here and get some feedback not only on the video itself, but also any advice about my tactics and how I can improve. It will all be greatly appreciated! :) :pilotfly: EDIT: I have no idea how to fix that ^ :helpsmilie: So here is the link: Edit: Fixed! Thank you mwd2 :D
  23. Yep, in TWS the elevation changes automatically to keep the primary target locked. No need to adjust it unless you're trying to keep other targets in view.
  24. It was a good read nonetheless. Apparently it tried to divide by zero.
  25. Reminds me of the story of the Israeli F-16 going into negative altitude because it flew low over the dead see. Apparently the nav system couldn't deal with being below sea level and the system ended up crashing.
