  1. Same. We even had the "get more customers!" assertion!
  2. It's the NATF-22. This was conceptualized between '88-'92. It never got beyond modeling.
  3. FWIW, I've a few women in my own DCS circles. I'd absolutely support adding an alternative model to the game, my only question would be how much in the way of resources would it require be dedicated to it and for how long. There are much more pressing issues, but I'd still want to see the game accommodating its playerbase fully.
  4. The popping the drag chute before landing, as I understand, was a STOL technique for the Fishbed. It's not that risky, but your ground crew will hate your guts since it mandates a thorough go-over of the airframe.
  5. I'm all for more additions to the Fishbed family. I'd love an F-13, I'd love that horrible fat turd that is the SMT, I'd murder for a 21-93 or a LanceR. I'll take any Fishbed. I eagerly await Fishbed updates and I'd happily pay for more variants without an once of hesitation. It's only now with the release of the F-4 am I finally not flying the MiG-21 in the sense that it's my primary. But, there's only so many devs, so much time, and so much effort that can be put into this.
  6. I'm waiting for someone to point out that this is Digital Combat Simulator. I got money riding on this! C'mon!
  7. Honestly, I can stop the Fishbed on almost any runway in DCS without the use of a chute. Even landing well overweight with too much fuel. The amount of friction you can produce does not feel accurate to operational accounts I have read. Is it LNS/Mag3's fault or ED's? I can't say. I'd just love to see it addressed. I usually save the chute for STOL operations when I'm popping it before touch down, as demo'd here: So, being forced to rely on that chute is something I'd LOVE to see. Also, if you're having issues with the Fishbed on landing in a nasty crosswind, the chute is a very good solution. Another would be land at a higher speed. 90% of any issue you have in the Fishbed can be addressed if you just perform whatever maneuver or phase of flight at a higher relative speed. As Have Doughnut indicates, it's a very honest aircraft. Also, play with flaps. Sure, you won't get BLC, but sometimes full-flaps can be detrimental in strong winds. It's not in the POH, but honestly? The only people who are going to jump on you for it are people who need to accept they're not getting that highly coveted AF Career, anyways.
  8. I'm guessing they really want to get the F4U out after the immense amount of time in dev it has taken. It's just yet another symptom of Mag3's most apparent shortcoming being resources and manpower. It has become acutely frustrating, but honestly? Not much we can do about it unless we have the qualifications needed to chip in. Still, it'd be interesting to understand what the hold up has been with the Corsair since it's clearly in the way of a Fishbed update. I'd be very willing to part with money for a Fishbed update akin to A-10C II and Black Shark III. I just hope I won't be paying for it when I'm drawing from social security. The F-4E vs. MiG-21bis match up in a Cold War gone hot in Central Europe isn't just plausible, it would have been an inevitability. Both of these airframes were no longer the primary air superiority platform for either side of the Iron Curtain, but definitely not out of their element. The fact that both are still hanging on in service today is testament to how fantastic they both weer. From the Fishbed's perspective, its small size, quickness, and availability would probably see it tasked hunting NATO ground attack aircraft. The A-10 would've been its quarry, for example. From the Phantom's perspective (US Phants, at least, Luftwaffe Phants would probably have an even wider mission set), its sheer power and flexibility would see it being a valued strike element and would probably have been used to kill Warsaw Pact divisional artillery formations, for starters, as well as supply depots, etc. while also being quite able to defend itself should it get bounced on by MiG-21s prowling for aircraft conducting that kind of mission. Basically, while the F-15s and the like would be dominating high altitudes, the MiG-21s and F-4s would've been down lower, filling desperate calls for localized air defense and superiority, to strike, to close air support.
  9. Then you should have asked in the F-4 section. For the record, I'm running a 3080 and i7 13700k while never dipping below 60, with most things maxed.
  10. Have you deleted your shader cache?
  11. The MiG-21 isn't the only aircraft to overperform as AI. This has been brought up to Mag3 and the word from Hiromachi himself? AI FM are ED's wheelhouse.
  12. ED handles all AI logic. That's in their court.
  13. I'm biased to the Dagger since I'm in the Upper Midwest and our Dagger jocks were rated pretty highly (I'm not even that far from the old stomping grounds of the Deuces Wild), but I'd take an F-102 or F-106 any day.
  14. I've been wanting this for a while, mostly because I want an actual reason to deploy drag chutes on the Fishbed and Farmer. Overall, DCS models rolling friction in a pretty simplistic manner, it feels.
  15. I wouldn't bet on it. Loopback makes it pretty clear in point 1 and 3. I'd honestly expect a J-10 sooner since, apparently, certain marks of it are using the same avionics as the JF-17.
  16. I'm still waiting for the passive aggressive posting booster to kick in, since I'd really love a MiG-21 update.
  17. Good. Goooood. My shrink ray is working.
  18. Given that Mag3 has several responsibilities and that ever-constant bugbear that is the F4U is their priority, I don't think a petition would change that.
  19. I recall receiving a Christmas gift of a similar nature when I was a wee lad in the 1990s. My first flying game? Sky Jinks on my old man's Atari 2600: And then, Christmas of '92?
  20. Presumably the boring back-end work. The kind of stuff that's not as sexy to show off as art.
  21. Honestly, given the amount of roles the Mi-2 fulfilled AND the amount of Mi-2s that are owned and operated by the public at large (I've even seen one, stateside)? This would be a very good choice for a module. The obvious choice, IMO, would either by a URP or an URP-G.
  22. There's now a team join screen before you select an aircraft slot. This is, apparently, political? It all works fine on my end.
  23. I won't tell anyone if you won't.
