  1. Interesting, cheers. Nonetheless, the ability to manipulate two sensors is very useful, especially with the ground radar being a little slow. A WSO that's good at multitasking will be a serious force multiplier.
  2. The big advantage to the WSO's seat is ergonomic. They have two proper joysticks for slewing sensors rather than a throttle mounted mini-stick and they are able to have two sensors of interest selected at once rather than one.
  3. We believe that 2023 will be a truly exciting year for all, with the introduction of eagerly awaited modules like the DCS: F-4E by Heatblur, DCS: F-15E by RAZBAM, DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior by Polychop, DCS: F4U-1D Corsair by Magnitude 3, DCS: C-130J by the Airplane Simulation Company, new Mirage F1 versions by Aerges, DCS: Normandy 2.0 map by Ugra Media, the DCS: Sinai Map by OnReTech, and more! Please don’t miss to watch our 2023 AND BEYOND VIDEO! Link That announcement makes 2023 look less likely. The Kiowa and C130 being possible for 23 were surprises though.
  4. This comment was also interesting We believe that 2023 will be a truly exciting year for all, with the introduction of eagerly awaited modules like the DCS: F-4E by Heatblur, DCS: F-15E by RAZBAM, DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior by Polychop, DCS: F4U-1D Corsair by Magnitude 3, DCS: C-130J by the Airplane Simulation Company, new Mirage F1 versions by Aerges, DCS: Normandy 2.0 map by Ugra Media, the DCS: Sinai Map by OnReTech, and more! Please don’t miss to watch our 2023 AND BEYOND VIDEO! Link It's never a guarantee but they're planning on Kiowa in 2023. I didn't think the C130 would be this soon, I guess it was a fair way along before they announced it.
  5. There's still time for you to be wrong...
  6. If you don't have your laser cutter in an enclosure with a fan and duct pulling the dust out of the window then no I hope you wipe everything down really well before you take the mask off. Dust that fine in your lungs is seriously bad for you.
  7. Transparent perspex is generally extruded although cast is available. The colours are generally cast. When you have it in hand the difference is obvious, extruded is more flexible. Check what you're buying and check it's actual Perspex. There are good alternate brands but the colours are different - some suppliers will send you whichever brand they have on hand and sometimes it's not even close to the same colour. Do also be aware that cast perspex has significant thickness variation, from piece to piece and even across a single piece. That can make engraving with a standard conical engraving cutter tricky (because very small variations in cut depth change the thickness of the engraving) and you should be very careful if you're making anything interlocking with it. If you're going to go laser then you really want to blow air into the cut and you need good extraction. The laser produces very fine dust (not good for the lungs) and it smells pretty nasty (for cast, really nasty for extruded).
  8. As Revelation said ten years ago - "Check back in June and we may have an idea by then..."
  9. No reason not have the armrest in a simpit. It is rather trickier with a desk setup. This and cost are probably why WW and RS both have reduced forces with RS working on improving theirs for use with very low force. Realsim and bugeye can both do you a full force base. ~$3K
  10. If you're using full force or close to it then the arm rests (which you'll see in the F16/22/35 cockpits) are essential. Pics below - note the two piece arm rest shown clearly in the F16. As they fold for maintenance access to the panels they're often not visible in cockpit pics.
  11. If you're not short of ports then connect them separately. If you are short of ports then it's time to get a good powered hub or a PCI USB card (you'll be connecting more devices - my pit currently has 2x10 port hubs and they're almost full...)
  12. It's lacking in lots of areas. I think they really didn't have a good idea of what it was supposed to be. A nice clear mission statement might be able to redeem it.
  13. It would also give Combined Arms a much better reason to exist.
  14. Some of you need to recalibrate your sarcasm detector.
  15. Hey, we were told very clearly that it was possible that it was likely that it would be 2022. You can take a prediction that definitive to the bank.
  16. Stuff comes and goes as the mil dispose of things. The RAF scrapped a load of tornado and jaguar stuff over the last couple of years so it's pretty plentiful at the moment.
  17. Loads of tornado and jaguar parts available right now. I keep looking at control columns... It'd be nice to have a proper European style center stick (front back pivots at the floor, left right pivots right below the grip so you don't need to move your legs to get to full deflection - like on the M2000, for example)
  18. Just remember the "and beyond" part. Even if it's in the 2023 and beyond trailer that doesn't mean that it's coming in 2023.
  19. There are a group of people that will do that every time and then get angry that their completely self-fabricated expectation wasn't met. Ten years ago people were saying that the F15E would be out in six months.
  20. It's a real handle (the loop). Martin Baker. The texturized rubber over steel cable is very distinctive in the hand. You can get new old stock pretty cheap, they're a stock spare part and they are far less desirable on their own because making the boss the ends plug into is a pain (square bores). Real seat box too.
  21. Very cool overhead handle.
  22. Yep, they changed it recently.
  23. That's up to the server settings. You're out of luck if you can't edit the display component lua files. All of the export methods need it. There are various threads with people complaining and suggesting that the integrity check should be limited to files that might have an impact on gameplay.
  24. Being used as a sensor like this is exactly what they're for. There are many millions of them in use as window & door status sensors in security systems all over the world and they are extremely reliable. Yes, current passed through them should be low but that isn't a problem here. I've been running significantly more than just sense current through the one in my ejection handle for years. Just because you have misused them in the past (too much current or too powerful a magnet) and caused them to fail doesn't make them not perfectly fine when used correctly. Also, let's post pics of our ejection handles to make the thread more interesting.
  25. Even 4020 is surprisingly strong but you have to pay much more attention to design in order to avoid unwanted flex. We really need to see your design to comment in a meaningful way.
