  1. Well looks like i will have to get an ATi card if I upgrade.
  2. 1) No, its the same engine as LOMAC. 2) Dont know, I guess it depends on the settings you use.
  3. You realize what you ask, probably needs a lot of the game re-written.... And what files would you check? If they are player mod-able the mods people have would be different, and would be unable to know what to check. I dont see it happening for a combat flight sim. It takes too much time to make a plane and all of its systems, and what we would get from the community would not be up to par on what the game developer can do. Sure you can talk about FSX, but how do you know how accurate that FM is? Does it have radar? Or any of the other systems. Last time I checked, someone made a F-18 mod for it, and they charge.
  4. Have you checked...? Cause I just downloaded it. I can get the GBUs to drop, but I have to launch over-ride, and they miss most of the time. I cant get the 154's to launch. Dumb bombs, of course work.
  5. OT: the AIM-9 doesnt have to be cued by radar...... IIRC
  6. Not from the video I posted. Sure it leaves a faint white trail at low altitudes, like the ground, but its not nearly as bad as at high altitude. The F-22 was nearly completely covered by the contrail. Huge difference at altitude.
  7. Considering HTPB is hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene, I think the oxyl part pretty much says it. On top of that, the oxidizer it reacts with will have lots of oxygen. Usually Ammonium Perchlorate it seems, which is NH4ClO4 , and then Aluminum powder for fuel. I am sure our AMRAAM engineers got some secret formulation they use, but the fact that HTPB itself and the oxidizer will release large amount of oxygen, I would think it will contrail. This video shows a lot of AMRAAM launches, some have tremedous amounts of "smoke" (mostly F-22 launches, which I assume are at very high alt) and others dont. The ones that do, you will notice it takes a while for it to build up, I would assume this is condensation forming, and not actual smoke.
  8. Negative, has nothing to do with temperature but content of the exhaust. If Hydrogen is coming out, then it will combine with the oxygen in the air and form water, once the water exceeds the saturation point you get contrail. I believe someone else before me explained this to a T. *Edit* Ah yes in the original post ;) As to the topic, it would appear the 120 should leave a contrail at the higher altitudes. I will say I have noticed the contrail off the control surfaces when its pulling G's, usually when I am pulling up and into it, and it smacks me :)
  9. Most commonly the contrail is from exhaust, check this site and you will see 3 pics of varying engine jets and how the contrail comes from the engine. http://www.skystef.be/contrail.htm Now if you do a search on Wiki; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrail, it also says it can form from wingtip pressure but not as common.
  10. No worries Cali, when it switches missions it takes about 5min to load the new one, and then another few for the mission to start. So if you can join a side, just wait a few, get another beer and when you get back it should be ready.
  11. The problem with dual, is the black bar from the bevels will be down the middle.
  12. Yeah its sad. But you know, things have a way of turning around, but boy are they cutting it close. I mean really Intel only made a bad decision with the P4. But before that, its pretty much as it is now. The thing that I am worried about, is that with the way the market is now, AMD needs to invest a lot in R&D to make a competative processor, and then needs to invest about 10 more BILLION, to build the potential Fab in New York to compete with Intel volume wise. I like to cheer for the underdog, but I think Intel delivered a hay-maker with the C2D.
  13. Not sure, be he seems to have lots of knowledge of it. Maybe ED already has enough information? We havent really had many issues with how they are modelling all these systems. They have done very good job IMHO of getting most things right the first time. The slowness is really only in the amount of things they are modelling. I was really expecting beta-testing to be a nightmare with some horrendous problems that needed sorting, but that really hasnt been the case. A lot of people give ED grief, but from what I have seen they really are doing a phenominal job on a light staff, especially considering people that worked on the original project arent with the team. I think everyone will be pleased.
  14. The problem is, you arent any more educated on the subject. The 120 has been upgraded so many times because its called improvement. If the -54 was indeed a superior missile, they would still be using it ;)
  15. Someone mentioned before timed based weather, I wonder how hard that would be to implement. That would be sweet to see, I would think programming the transition of weather would be the hardest.
  16. Wow. I dont understand what the F-14 obsession is all about. People watch Topgun too much I think.
  17. Have you tried just uninstalling the SF driver from control panel add/remove? When you start the game again, it will reinstall it. That may solve the problem, instead of reinstalling all of LOMAC, and would much much faster. Its hard to tell what the exact problem is, you say you have SH3 and it also works? Shouldnt it have the same CD protection from SF or no? The error points directly to a line in the code that is failing, but since it is SF code, you may try and e-mail them. It really seems like a SF bug, not a LOMAC bug. But from the star-force site, it says that ED's SF representative needs to contact them. You may need to send ED like a DXdiag report or something that gives all your system info, so they can pass that and the error to SF support.
  18. MEinit.xml to add Su-33 to US. I can write in here how, but not at my desktop, I will get it in here if someone else doesnt beat me to it.
  19. The front looks almost the same. The hood looks almost the same. Only thing I can see diff, is its 2 door versus 4 door, and the front windows has some slant to it. Bah whatever, :D :P both ya Oh, and maybe we can see 'insurgent' unit. You know they look civilian, but they still fire at ya :) Maybe some MG mounted in the back of a toyota lol.
  20. It was worth it for me :D. But I have a 7900GTX, and really see no reason to upgrade it yet since LOMAC dont care.
