Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
SDsc0rch replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
i'm not saying i know the answer - but if they govt won't permit modeling the f-4 due to it currently being operated by our allies, what does that say about the f-16? where am i going wrong here?? -

makes sense.. ==edit== oh damnnnnn! i just realized something --- just think about the f-16 !! in how many languages can you say "not in our lifetime"?? -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

first, thank you for this insight and feedback second, i'm sorta confused ----- the US govt won't permit a high-fidelity rendition/replication of an F-4, yet it *will* permit modeling an F-14 ??? not asking you to explain the US govt's actions - i'm just expressing out loud my astonishment at the inconsistency there.... : / -
what if.................. what if the next patch does get rid of lag... for the current number of clients so in response they bump up the number of clients.. and the lag comes back! (isn't that just about the whole history of computers? hardware makers design a certain capability/functionality and then the software makers use all of that capability and then some to the point where it bogs down the hardware? and we're essentially right back where we started?) wouldn't it be even better if the sim could see when a client is lagging like crazy (and bringing down everyone else's quality (that's what i understand is happening) and drop that problem client until their connection/ping improves - ?? just sayin...
-
ah ---- that makes a little more sense i didn't interpret it that way but maybe that's correct..
-
pic in latest ED/DCS newsletter + wags' avatar people are interpreting those as signs or hints about future projects
-
you're right.. the f-15's engines are very powerful the dash one cautions pilots to be careful ---- it will actually skid along the ground if the throttles are over 80% and you're holding down the brakes and yes, there is a technique for getting this bugger slowed down for landing - you've got to account for the power of the powerplant - even at idle
-
does anybody even know what that even MEANS?!? i suppose i can guess what zeriozes means but.. what's "assigned overload"?
-
hornette's LOL i'm gonna use that ; ) == ps - attempted to rep you dude for sharing that - but apparently i've done that too much and i gotta spread it around so.. this is all you get!haha
-
i've got that issue too maybe it doesn't bother me as much as svend there - but i'd rather it be "off" and its definitely "on"
-
sweet!! : ) thank you : )
-
you know the f-18 started as an f-5 right? : )

yeah but, exchange rates are exchange rates if you're going to bring up the word "fair," is it fair for the devs to be compensated a smaller amount in order to accommodate certain portions of the world that don't have favorable exchange rates? is their work worth less there?? we're talking "fair" here put the shoe on the other foot - how would YOU like to be compensated? exchange rates are exchange rates and its part of life - part of living on this planet there will always be inequalities and disadvantages - its no one's duty to make things "equal" or "fair" for every possible situation
-
i'm with you 100% agreed - i want to see these guys prosper and for DCS to continue i think they deserve it and yes - 40% off is definitely a "fair" discount
-
in response to the OPs post... i for one am happy to pay full price the more money they get, the more stable their business is, the more modules they crank out - ultimately, the happier i am when i pay full price on "day one" i get the use of that module THEN that's the cost to me of having it as soon as possible many businesses' pricing is this way on the one hand, i've paid full price for modules i was excited about and wanted now!now!now! -- on the other hand, i have purchased modules at steep discounts during sales periods ----- i would say the sale pricing allowed me to sample a module i wouldn't have purchased otherwise - in that sense, the dev got a few bucks out of me that otherwise would have remained in my wallet you can "choose" to consider your payment on day one as a "penalty" --- or you can choose to see it as 1) a way to welcome the dev (well said, btw) and 2) paying a bit of a premium to get quality content in a timely manner ultimately i think its your choice how you think and feel about that transaction

yeah.. i thumbed through the dash-one this morning it never directly says CAS compensates for asymmetries - that's not the purpose for CAS (at least i was unable to find it) also, correct me if i'm wrong but it seems to me asymmetric loads are one thing - and trim is another ---- we are trying to put the two together and i wasn't able to find where the manual discussed the two together
-
wait ---- did i see that right? someone put the word "hornet" and "long range" in the same sentence?? :megalol: ;) :D
-
okay, thank you guys for your responses @not_G, yes i believe the strike eagle in the vid is saudi, therefore it is FBW (did not know that) - so that's probably why the airbrake deployment speed is faster and thanks to cofcorpse too - you're right, the airbrake in the sim is just like that vid
-
was just watching a YouTube clip of saudi fighters operating in support of action in yemen i noticed an f-15e employing the speedbrake during its landing - see here: https://youtu.be/ylgT-wwrFgU?t=229 (note - page i was looking at.. http://theaviationist.com/2015/04/06/operation-decisive-storm-rsaf/ ) i noticed the speed of the airbrake deployment - its fast! much faster than in DCS now, the youtube clip is featuring an f-15e - and we have an f-15c in DCS so i'm curious.. is the speed of the f-15e airbrake faster than on an f-15c? are SAUDI f-15 airbrakes faster? maybe its an upgrade - maybe airbrakes were slower for the aircraft that are modeled in the sim - but now more modern eagles and strike eagles have faster actuators - does anybody know? or, is the DCS airbrake... simply too slow?
-
yes, things are improving however, with asymmetrical loads (ie.. fire one missile - now the a/c is unbalanced) a slight roll develops - you don't notice it at first, but look away and do something then look back to the HUD and you've developed some bank towards the heavier side a) shouldn't the CAS system deal with that automatically ? and b) when i try to trim out the very slight roll moment, i am unable to get it "just right"
-
ohhhhhhhhh i just.. i really don't know what to say here i remember this skit on SNL it went something like..... "REALLY?!?"
-
oh wow ----- very interesting also, in VACQ, it appears it doesn't scan from 0-deg in front of you (true boresight) and upward 55-deg, it appears from the elev coverage indicators on the left side of the VSD that the lower limit is actually inclined upward somewhat ----- does anybody know about that?

sometimes what i get is, i see the windows on the desktop "through" DCS and nothing is responsive i have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and kill DCS to get back to the desktop
-
you gotta just do it the hard way and keep in mind the elev of the airfield your landing at look in the kneepad, cycle to the chosen airfield, look at the elevation - if you want a 1500-ft pattern altitude, add 1500 to that field elevation.. it is what it is : /
