  1. i think its sad how one person in the relationship can dictate so much to the other this is what makes you happy - this captures your imagination and fills your dreams - yet one member of the relationship has the ability to veto that and consign that happiness beyond your reach doesn't sound "right" to me
  2. sounds like you want multiplayer online, but you want the other side to "play fair" (what does that even MEAN) play at war, yet be "nice"? i guess we should all line up in neat lines and wear bright red jackets and shoot when we're told so as to appease the "soft core" crowd?? you've got single-player - you've got other servers -------- don't ruin the 104th
  3. oh for petes sake! you don't hear anybody whining when the SUs are hovering over the mountains north of kutaisi ==edit== oh.. i see ---- the problem is you don't like it when its "frustrating" maybe if we all put our heads together we can devise a ruleset that avoids all "frustration" c'mon now gents! we can do this!! *sigh*
  4. little bit of trivia for you... how many M1 abrams tanks have been lost in combat due to enemy fire??
  5. wait a second, i thought TWS mode actually DID follow target altitude ??
  6. yeap that, and how quickly rpm responds to throttle position at the low end - seems very sluggish getting off the throttle, out of AB, is also important - think IRCM, when you want to minimize your IR signature
  7. zeus! VERY interesting!! thank you for posting! this kind of technology (air to air radar) needs to get transferred and reused across a-a platforms
  8. great post! THANK you - reading it...... (can't rep - already done that too much apparently)
  9. you gotta be kidding me BETA! ??
  10. !!! that was.. AWESOME
  11. or.......................... they actually got some real world data and they needed to massage the in-game performance of the IRST or, a subject-matter-expert (aka.. former pilot) spoke with them and they modified the system ED is very data-driven ----- gotta respect them for that
  12. thank YOU : )
  13. ^^this WinchesterDelta... good input, too
  14. uhm.... okay?
  15. ooh, i'm gonna be so scared when i see you guys break out your charts and slide rules and pull your mechanical pencils out of your pocket protectors............ i think i'd rather just sneak in unobserved and gun your brains out lol
  16. okay, i thought so - what you are seeing is the master mode selector ADI is basically "nav" mode - if you select a combat mode on the HUD, you'll see the ADI light extinguish --- select "nav" mode again and you'll see ADI light up again in that same center area, there is also VI a button (visual intercept) and A/G (air to ground) when you select GUNS, SRM or MRM on the throttle, the jet is returned to A-A priority mode and the systems adjust appropriately
  17. just want to put this out there... because radar and IFF are so closely associated, i think there might be room for confusion perhaps i am misunderstanding, but it sounds like there is the idea when an a/c is interrogated, that interrogation should appear on the TEWS - that is not the case IFF is a separate system and there is a cockpit indication when your aircraft responds to an interrogation - and there is also a cockpit indication if an interrogation is received and your system was unable to give a positive response (that would be a good thing to know - would it not?) so.. TEWS will only report *radars* (even then, only when they meet prescribed specifications - it is *definitely* not a perfect system - and let me tell you, that fact is most certainly exploited) and IFF, while it operates through and in conjunction with the radar, is a separate system and displays information on the VSD as well as other cockpit displays
  18. yes - definitely would like to see improvements in the EW arena just because "some" aspects of a given field are classified doesn't mean we have to (or should) abandon the entire concept (btw.. the A-10 is held up as the model DCS-level simulation - am i right? do you think EVERYTHING about the A-10 is modeled to perfection? or we've modeled classified systems ---- absolutely NOT ----- yet i don't hear anybody complaining about the A-10....) but i would like to say, missile ranges and guidance plays in to this EW problem DCS has ---- ranges are so short we don't have a realistic HOJ shot yes - fix EW ------ yes - fix missiles and YES - you can model systems where some aspects are classified we're doing it already - and nobody gives a hoot
  19. ADI - is that in the middle of the instrument panel? or down and to the right - in the corner?
  20. look at wags' system (in his sig) that system seems to run smooth
  21. doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it has been happening more over the last 7-10 days don't know why but yeah, i'm definitely getting this also seems to be when i'm online - finishing a mulitplayer session but also happens (albeit less frequently) in the midst of the scenario very VERY frustrating
  22. SDsc0rch

    DCS: F-5E!

    now YOU'RE trolling
  23. you're not understanding me the. missiles. are. working. realistically. your "complaint" is without grounds
  24. @ekg.. wait a second - you're saying heaters eat flares?!? NOOOOOOO, i just simply don't believe it shot after shot? oh wait, even when the bandit is IN AFTERBURNER the flares decoy heaters? geez.. those flares really work!! SOMEtimes, what we "think" is reality, what our minds tell us "should" be the case...... isn't necessarily the truth everybody has opinions about air combat - often very strong opinions empirical evidence often runs counter to our beliefs
