Hi, glad you liked it For now it's working for a few preset vehicle types, but I will make it so that you can give a squad to anything next time I update it.

*to complain It isn't so much a complaint as a statement though. And you were answered by ED: that it is not a valid weapon for the given bird we have, and by Frederf that capability gaps are an actual thing. If you want to take out single armored targets with a guided weapon in your F-16, make due with your actual capabilities: use a Maverick, yes shorter lock range, but at least it doesn't mind if said armored targets decides to do that simple thing called moving, unlike fancy GPS stuff. Or use a high altitude LGB drop. Or, if you do so must use a long ranged GPS guided glide weapon... and nothing else, well... fly a Hornet... or... possibly even less palatable for you, a JF-17 I've had over 8 years to "get" 2.4K posts, but seeing from this thread, you'll need a lot shorter than that with argumentative threads like this :)) Edit: or... you can try your luck with JDAMs of course, again shorter range, but since you seem to insist on GPS guidance, there you go...

This is not even a comparison really. AJS 37 is a mid 90s update (albeit a relatively modest update) to already attack specialized AJ 37. It has different ways to deliver unguided rockets and bombs quite accurately, can use mavericks, can use 7-8ish km ranged precision guided gliding submunition dispensers (BK 90 Mjölnir), has two types of anti-ship missiles, latter being rather sophisticated, and a "fly this missile with its own joystick" MCLOS missile with a big warhead. It has a navigation/attack computer that is designed to do these things well while helping with targeting/accuracy. Mirage F1 on the other hand is bred a lot more towards fulfilling an air-to-air first, strike second role, especially in the C versions. The version we are getting first, CE, will only have manual bombing/strafing like the F-5. It will also only have beacon based navigation. And unlike the Viggen it will not be able to designate a ground target through the use of its radar. But unlike the Viggen it will have a lot more toys to play with for air combat like close in quick acquisition modes, a dogfight mode with IR missiles and internal cannons (which Viggen also lacks, at least in its attack version) and more. EE version we will get later will have an INS navigation set, but it will still not feature any ground ranging features to use with ground attack weapons, so it will also be simply manual "kentucky windage" or bombing tables. F1M we will get as the last version available in the module is a late 90s upgrade and that one will have CCIP and CCRP features, but it may still not quite be the equal of AJS 37 as a strike aircraft, but will be a much better multirole aircraft, while CE and EE will be primarily fighters and secondarily attackers.

correct as-is M230 gun area or point attack weapon?
WinterH replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: AH-64D
It's almost like the thing is called "Area Weapon System" huh ? -
It wouldn't because 2000C RDI can't use them. This was discussed ad nauseam back when Mirage 2000C was in dev/newly released.

Seen yours from I think a video about maybe a month-ish ago indeed seems to be the case :))

Hi, try this: https://github.com/erdenizsanlav/Dcs-Dismounts It is something I'm working on, has some of the bits of MBot's work here, but mostly its own thing with different features. I add to it as I find time/motivation, but it's already usable in current version. Do tell me if it works well for you I was going to create a thread for it later on with a few more features, but hey ho

Still though, I'd sooner take an A-37 than a: - Eurofighter - Super Hornet - Full fidelity F-15C - Despite being my favorite thing in DCS, a helicopter, AH-1Z - Bf-109G6, aka ugly duckling of the family, despite being a 109 lover since I was a kid - Some weirdo jet like F-101 - Or like Yak-38, despite really liking Soviet/Russian aircraft And even between F-104 and it, it would be a toss up for me. Not saying I'm even remotely in the majority here, but that whole "combat aircraft in DCS!" thing is incredibly narrow really. And funnily A-37 is a combat aircraft after all, even if on miniscule side of it. If that was the whole point of view to drive DCS modules we wouldn't have amazing utility helos, cool aerobatics planes, trainer/light attack birds, and probably not even warbirds.

I'd say a slightly smaller customer base than those originally bought L-39 and C-101, and will buy the MB-339. Most of those who do, do so because they like aircraft in general, and find them cool in their own way. For such people Magister, T-33, T-37/A-37 etc will feel like new cool aircraft to experience in DCS. But, that is almost certainly a small niche within the overall DCS customer pool. For something like HA-200 and 220, it is even more obscure and used by a lot fewer countries, so I can see it selling less. But then, one may say C-101 is mostly that way too. Personally I'd love if we could have a Hawk T1A again, as it is the one with highest performance among that generation of trainer/light attackers, so I'd enjoy trying to even mix it up in it against Korean War birds in some what-if fights, but I'll admit I'm more than likely in the extreme niche side of things there, and DCS: Hawk ship has sailed anyway In the end though, even I would prefer to see a Mirage F1 Vol 2, or possibly even the F-104 despite it not being an aircraft I like much.
-
I'm personally "finding an aircraft interesting first, looking at historical and/or potential scenarios second" kinda person regarding aircraft I want to see in DCS but that's just me. Still though, I'd also very much like to see a Magister at some point. The thing is gorgeous, and looks like an absolute hoot to fly However, while T-33 is pretty cool, rather than that one I'd like seeing an A-37 Dragonfly, another lil attacker I've always had a soft spot for

I sooooo want that thing in DCS... literally the only thing I'm excited for at the same level is F-4E. As long as it's quality don't care from whom it comes, just give me my Su-17 or 22 M4

First off, I would say there is a LONG journey ahead with Mirage F1 and Aerges for us all. While the differences may not be mountaineous, there will still be 3 more variants, and F1M can be argued to be quite a bit work to do due to MFD pages, new HUD, new systems etc. With that out of the way, what would I like Aerges' next module be? Depends on whether they stick with aircraft that served with Spanish Air Force or not. If that will be the case, while definitely not my favorite oldie jet by any means, I'd love seeing an F-104 regardless, it would further complete the picture of DCS Cold War birds. If, they prove open to making other birds though, I would love a Jaguar or maybe a Mirage V (Mirage III served in Spain, but Razbam seems to be working on one, but then, afaik it's not licensed yet, so we may see Aerges do a Mirage III as well who knows). However, I will go ahead and say one of the potential scenarious I'd love seeing the most would be seeing a separate, full price DCS: Mirage F1 Vol 2 from Aerges including some of the cool variants like F1EQ5, F1CT/CR, F1C-200, F1AZ/AD, MF2000 if documents and information about these variants can be found. F1EQ5 or EQ6 would be the peak pre-2000s properly multirole Mirage F1, and also super relevant to some Middle East scenarios, used by both Iraq and nowadays Iran. CT and CR are more or less the peak of Mirage F1 in French service. F1A variants had a way smaller radar in a narrower nose, but instead they had a laser rangefinder under the nose for accurate attacking modes with unguided munitions. They could also carry some guided ones too, but afaik the laser couldn't designate targets for those, so targeting needed to be external if I'm correct. F1CT also had that system I think. Both South African F1AZ and Libyan F1AD has seen some hot moments too, and F1AZ actually took part in air combat against MiG-23s. Overall, the F1A lineage is fairly different compared to C and E line, so would be cool to see represented. MF2000 on the hand may be a bridge too far, it is afaik currently in use by Morocco, and is basically the ultimate evolution of Mirage F1 with RDY radar, MICA missiles, Damocles targeting pods etc. It is basically a modern combat aircraft systems wise, but in an F1 air frame. I think I'd mostly prefer to see EQ5 and CT and/or F1A line. Another actually Spanish bir could be HA-200/220, similar to C-101EB/CC, a very cool looking trainer/attack aircraft and was designed mostly by Willy Messerschmitt himsel. But while I love oddballs like those, it would be super niche and wouldn't sell that much so I don't think it would be the first choice from Aerges, but then, who knows, they will already have a seller in Mirage F1, and from what I know they are a studio who enjoys making the aircraft they like more than what will sell the best.

Yeah, I think Super 530D was a typo in the manual probably. As far as I know, Super 530F is the best we can get with Mirage F1, and D is Mirage 2000 only.

For me personally the ideal cockpit will be the EE with a better and RWR and INS NAV, but no MFD and still the funky HUD.

Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
WinterH replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
To be fair, we do have T-55, M-60, SA-2, SA-3, ZSU-57, S-60, ZU-23, BMP-1, M-113, Chieftain, M-163 Vulcan, Shilka, SA-8, SA-6, Some older trucks and utility vehicles like Range Rover and Land Rover 101, and probably a few more I can't recall right away. But there is a difference in available assets for the period between the sides indeed. My personal peeve, I really think we need old MANPADS. Stuff like Redeye, Strela-2/3, Blowpipe etc. We have lots of flyable oldies, but not period shoulder fired missile threats. Stinger and Igla-S are a bit too spicy for them, but I'd still like to add MANPADS threats to missions with them to force me to fly more carefully. I'm working on a script to give trucks/APCs/IFVs dismount squads, and I know of at least two more different scripts doing the same. But oddly, I like flying older stuff more, yet if I incorporate my script into those missions, I will very likely come across later Stingers and Iglas, possibly in large numbers even. That said, it'd also be nice to get things like M-48s, T-62s, early T-72s, older blue AAA etc. Edit: a T-34/85 wouldn't be amiss either, considering it's been in WW2, Korea, even Vietnam, and remained active in odd little conflicts or ver long lasting ones worldwide for up to later parts of 20th century. -
Also AFAIK we're not getting a very late Strike Eagle anyway. Which is frankly what I prefer, that makes it at least something somewhat different from Hornet, Viper, and Jeff imo.

Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
WinterH replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I don't know about Pikey, but I myself am, definitely, firmly in "modern boring, olds'cool fun" camp, and I neither like nor liken to reality Hollywood stuff like Topgun. And I'm not even halfway as much into dogfighting as I'm into ground attack side of things. Some if the reasons our camp like the things we like are that you have to find out the intricacies of the way an aircraft flies, work with it/fight against it to get the best out of it when dogfighting, as opposed to learn the speed range to stay in and let the FBW take care of the rest approach in modern birds. Where they sanitize things to stop us from doo-dooing. We like it because we either like to get accurate enough with unguided weapon volleys, find the best approach angle to lay down as much damage as possible, working with our "accurate enough" level of precision. Or, alternatively, learn perfect parameters of dove angles, speeds, altitudes to actually be pretty damn accurate with them and fly those attack runs with the necessary discipline. We even like that some older but then whiz-bang tech makes us work with/around them to squeeze out some semi modern capabilities out of those early, funky, sometimes even adorably janky systems. Or alternatively we just chase after that wide grin which comes with taking on a 90s or even 2000s+ threat environment and succeeding with aircraft/weapons/systems from yester-century. We like how the flight models feel a lot more alive and a lot less sanitized, despite obviously being less capable. We can't experience most of these just because we can sorta deliver ordnance the same way in modern birds. Edit: also sorry for 3 consecutive posts instead of editing the first one, on the road, holiday, browsing on phone etc. -
Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
WinterH replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Means it's so boring actual fighter pilots using it wrote and performed a song about how sad it is, "Dos Gringos - JDAM Blues" now, don't get me wrong, I do think there's cool tricks to learn, and perform a few times without getting bored with them. And you may not ever get bored with them, which is awesome , but just thought it's funny that it IS and actual song by actual fighter pilots who say that it is actually boring as hell -
Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
WinterH replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
As is meant to be:) There, fixed it for you :)) Both sides have their tastes of course. And both can be blind to arguments from the side. They're both right in their own ways. I can enjoy modern aircraft in short bursts, before getting utterly bored of the experience. And still find enjoyment in MiG-21 8 years into its release. Apache is cool and neat, I guess, but it doesn't thrill me like trying to overcome challenging environments in Hind. Truth is, the more modern a module, the more likely for it to have a bunch of guesstimations thrown here and there. Not saying older aircraft are immune to it, we know they're not. But there's still a difference in the likelihood of that occurring betithem and their younger successors. For some that is completely ok if it's the price to experience that airframe or at least a semblance of it, for others less so. And that's fine. The more diverse stuff DCS can come up with, the people it can attract. And also, the more diverse, the more retention of users and their interest in the platform. While I prefer my 60s-80s aircraft by far the most in DCS, sometimes I do take a break from my favorites and enjoy WW2 or modern stuff for example. With all that said however, I do strongly believe 60s-80s is really the best period to represent in DCS. Not nearly as done to death in sims as the other two extremes, a lot more likely to be made to the level of authenticity expected of DCS due to likelihood of getting access to documentation, and a lot more likely to have a complete and competitive blue vs red and/or historical matchup. That doesn't mean it should be the only period in DCS of course. But for a while, more modern stuff was all we were getting announced/released so some of us got a little restless because of it But now we have more oldies coming up. Thus, I don't know if there's as much ground to be worried about for us Cold War line up lovers. More modern stuff are coming too like Eurofighter, Strike Eagle. And often they come before the stuff we Cold War folks want, because at the end of the day they'll sell more copies quicker so devs sometimes prioritize them. 70s-80s fighters and strikers filling up from both sides in DCS is just the objective best outcome and the dream though, so it's nice to see it happening Yeah, not nearly the same thing/experience in any way shape or form though. So much so, I'm not even sure if there's a point in mentioning it. -
When we look at the Spanish variants, AFAIK they have the same air to air weapons, and same unguided air to ground weapons. Differences are the refueling probe and an INS NAV system as I've said above. AFAIK it is only a NAV system and not really a NAV/ATTACK one, so I wouldn't really call it an all weather striker if that is the case. Looks like all versions will get laser guided bombs, but all will need them to be lased externally including the M.
-
CE: the first bird we're getting, mainly an interceptor with some unguided ground attack weapons too. Navigation through radio beacons. EE: As above, but in addition to that: aerial refueling probe, INS navigation system, option to use a better RWR BE: Mostly like CE afaik, but a two seater training bird. Guns are deleted. M: modernized in late-ish 90s and has a more modern HUD and MFDs.

Glad to be of help, and to dispel odd thoughts Oh and, worth mentioning remaining stuff from current modules too, like 2 more tomcat variants, an actual AI A-6, AI Draken, etc :))
-
Next HB Module: DCS F-4E Phantom II including two variants of F-4E After that: DCS Eurofighter Typhoon Then, DCS A-6 and/or Naval F-4 So, yeah, that's years worth of development ahead...
