  1. How did it happen, if you don't mind me asking?
  2. Yup, that's the ticket. Enable TrackIR aiming, disable TrackIR, enable mouse look. Then it's like your typical FPS. Convoluted, but workable.
  3. It should work. Turn off TrackIR aiming or pause TrackIR.
  4. They'll have to send you a new one. The gimbal is broken on the inside.
  5. Only thing to do would be to place the camera further back.
  6. Reversion is a solution. Need I say more? Well, I won't, bugging out. :pilotfly:
  7. Why the cheap shot? Seemed rather unnecessary.
  8. Well for general Windows usage it's inconvenient, and for gaming it's not that much of a leap for the cost. I guess some of your more technical applications might benefit from it, but color reproduction on 4K TN panels is yet another weak point. Some thoughts to keep in mind if you intend on staying with your new purchase long-term. At that price point I would go with an ROG Swift: http://www.asus.com/Monitors/ROG_SWIFT_PG278Q/, but I'm not sure about the exact price in the UK.
  9. IMO 4K is not worth the trouble unless you are going to get a very large screen.
  10. The grass seems quite... orderly. :megalol: I jest, I jest. Wouldn't want to dissuade anyone from posting WIP footage, it is always welcome. :smartass:
  11. The R9 290 (not even 290X) has an advantage over the GTX 780 at 4K resolution, but the 780 Ti is superior to both with only 3 GB of memory. If you can wait 2 weeks, I would, for the new GTX 900(reliable sources have indicated that it will indeed be the 900, instead of 800) series. It seems it will be 4GB at least. As SkateZilla and cichlidfan have pointed out, AMD DX9 drivers are underperforming at the moment, but if you need a card now I would go for an R9 290 over a GTX 780 (unless you opt for 6GB and intend to keep this for a long time).
  12. NOW, I SAY NOW!
  13. In War Thunder. Those advanced early 20th century avionics. Even make Airbus controls look bad. Nascar, I've got to agree with you though. War Thunder looks and runs great. You know the new EDGE graphics engine is incoming, right? If they do it right, I think you'll get your wish.
  14. Can't go wrong with the 780 6GB at that price (almost). Even the newer cards are only going to be 4GB to start with.
  15. Hello, HiWay. The HD 5850 doesn't support 4K, unfortunately. The upconversion cable is only good for movies and such, because it adds input lag. You want to get a newer video card. In the meantime you can run the 50" Seiki in 1080p at 120 hz. You should be able to select this from the Catalyst Control Center. If not, here is a resource: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1756171 Also, in your TV settings (with remote) turn sharpness to 0. This will make things look much better on the computer. Post again if you need help.
  16. Looks good, Tommy. I expect it gets the job done.
  17. I was running a GTX 770 2GB in 4K, and I switched over to an R9 290 4GB. FPS is about the same (~30 at default maximums). DCS is completely CPU-limited right now. You shouldn't have problems, but I wouldn't expect 60 fps. Also, I'm guessing -P is just a newer revision without any big differences. The description says it has 3 DisplayPort inputs, but I don't think so.
  18. Yeah, the rumors have been flying the past week. At this point it is safe to say that they are not far from the truth. At least that's how it's worked for a while in this industry.
  19. Erm, no. What wiki? :(
  20. I would go with the i5 then. You'll get way more FPS than the FX-8350 with DCS in its current state and only be slightly behind the FX-8350 in rendering. It'll still be much faster than your current processor. Nice videos, too.
  21. Good advice from cichlidfan. For processors there's no real difference between AMD and Intel as far as maintaining things goes. Install your drivers in the usual order and you never have to worry about it again. On the GPU side, Nvidia has Geforce Experience which makes updating drivers a one-click affair, no restart needed. For the price you may as well go Intel. AMD processors are, simply put, inferior. They might be a little cheaper but given your budget and what you've said about the value you expect from your hardware, I would spend the 50 USD over an FX-8350 to get an i5 4690K. The AMD does have 8 cores vs the Intel's 4, but like clock speed these things are not directly comparable anymore. In any situation that is actually limited by CPU performance an AMD processor is going to let you down big time (as much as 50% less performance). Some things like video encoding might give AMD's core count a tiny edge, but even then they barely make up for the low performance per core you get out of them, compared to an i5. There is no comparison with an i7, except you do get 8 cores for 150 USD as opposed to 300. To be honest processor performance has been stagnant for the past couple of years, but where Intel gives you performance from 2 years ago, AMD gives you performance from 4 years ago. You can get a good 10% OC out of an i5 easy, and on the stock cooler with good temps. AMD processors OC, but they're hot and what's the point in a high 25% OC if it's not going to make up for being 50% behind anyway. Nowadays any motherboard is about as good any other. SATAIII is a given and USB 3.0 is standard. The more expensive ones typically give you more PCIE slots. Read the reviews for the individual board to make sure there aren't any standout quality issues, but reliability isn't going to be all that different between manufacturers.
  22. GTX 900 launch is in about two weeks. 780 Ti prices are plummeting. Things should get exciting soon.
  23. Glad to see performance has not degraded. (It was too much to expect any significant improvements). Thanks for your work, Mustang. Now, bring on EDGE!
  24. If EDGE works anything like it's supposed to there's no way it can be any worse. Turn DOF and grass off, and it'll look as good or better compared to the old engine with better performance. At least that's how it should work.
  25. Good way to describe it. The specs that LEAP has raised tens of millions of dollars with are impressive, but the results are simply not there yet. We'll have to see what software tricks they have up their sleeve.
