Scientific poll (all please take part)
Force_Feedback replied to mcnab's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If I actually would find someone worthy and somebody that respects me in the same manner, I would trade a lot of things for that, not only some stupid game. Thing is, you can't trade anything for that, you just have to find someone like that, or she will have to find you, no retarded computer game can accomplish that, ever. On the other hand, a game is always quite predictable and reliable, unlike some persons, so this poll holds some truth to it in some matter. I really despise people who have some material intent when seeking relations or think that honesty is not important in any way, and that's what this poll will accomplish, some senseless lying in either case. As a joke it's good, but it makes me quite sad when I think about it, sorry for that. -
On the Kh-25, in lomac it's called the 'Kh-25MPU' but in fact it's the Kh-25MP, the MPU has a 340km range, hence the U for 'improved'. If ED uses the argument of not adding the Igla-V or R-73 to the Kh-50 'because it's not used', then they also can omit the 12 Vikhr missiles, and only allow for 4 to be carried (realistic), half or 1/3 full rocket pods, no gun pods and no bombs at all. Just admit that there is not enough info on the Igla-V and that the R-73 was and will never be used for the same reason the Ka-50 has no RWR; it was never intended as a battlefield chopper, and terrorists/rebels/people that not agree with you usually don't have the €€€ to buy all that radar guided stuff.

Against the Tor and Tunguska you're royally f-ed, not to mention the Pantsir most 'evil' nations have bought.

NOW can we get rid of the Kuznetsov?
Force_Feedback replied to SwingKid's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The Kuznetsov can pass the Bosporus with no argument, it's a heavy aviation cruiser, it's main role sits in those big tubes under the deck ;) It's tha same thing with the Wasp class with the US, they're not carriers, but troop landing ships, yet there are planes and choppers taking off from it... The Ulyanovsk would have become the only modern Soviet aircraft carrier, the Kuz is big, but not a true carrier, more of a beefed up Ticonderoga cruiser minus the big guns. -

The Russians did have developed a 'new' (by 1998) hypersonic antimissile missile, weighing 340 kg and capable of destroying all present day and possible future antiship missiles by directly hitting it (direct interception, not by proximity fuse), ofcourse it's only mentioned by some Fakel representative in an interview. It's called 9M96, and part of the S-400 system, it's small range is because it's designed to intercept the warhead of ballistic missiles and thanks to the gas dynamic vents it can maneuver faster than with conventional aerodynamic controls. It's the 4 smaller tubes together with 3 big ones on the S-300PMU2 system, although a 16 tube launch vehicle is possible. So you have over 120km range against aircraft and lots of missile to fire, combine that with upgraded missiles, and you have a significantly better antimissiles system than anything before. -
There will be whines about the aim-120 and datalink anyway, so why even consider making a remark about the raptor. Even now ED has this nice site with all Western planes to statisfy the nationalistic needs of certain persons, believe me, there would be like 10 sticky threads with 60 pages long whines about how unfair the Raptor is moddles, that it can't do suborbital flights, that the hyperspace module isn't properly moddled, etc.

Those things look scary, the Kuz looks like a toy ship (though it has a nice roach plague in RL). When will we get AVM (Advanced Vermin Moddeling) in the dried crap sim, man that abbreviation sounds like some game made by the porn industry :P Then again it's only a stupid name, it's all about the content. -
NOW can we get rid of the Kuznetsov?
Force_Feedback replied to SwingKid's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The Kuznetsov is not a carrier, the Vinson is, that should be removed, the Kuznetsov was built there for cryin out loud, remove that damn nuclear opression island. But seriousely, removing the Vinson would be a great excuse to not further expand the naval aspect of digitall comeback stim. Oh well, I'm sure the chopper has great anti radar capabilities and probably some hardcoded weapons so we can't even 'LOPE' a Kh-31P to it to experiment with in single player mode. -
New ED SU-25K Model.........WHEN !
Force_Feedback replied to 504MrWolf's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The real translation would be 'another', another su-25T. But still, I'd like a new su-25 model, but if the damage moddeling and the fatal engine fire engine bugs aren't fixed it makes it less attractive. -
But those are trainers as well, initially. The Hog is fine, but something with afterburners would be nice, sure we can go all Airwolf on the Ka-50, but that will eventually end in either en ejection or a sudden decelleration due to the speed differential between the ka-50 and terra firma.

The site on Black Shark is extremely informative, about how all the subsystems are moddled and such, nice one.

ka50 content gone from the site!

Maybe it's under the 'vaporware' section. -
And, if the opposing force has drones as well, what's the point of waging a war at all? You can then either commit mass suicide of both sides, or not start the whole unmanned drone contest at all. This all assuming the drones won't target any people, which they will in RL. But in a hypothetical case of both sides having comparable drone armies, what's the point of wasting all that hardware? To create jobs in the underground factories?

Su-25t Does not Contrail? (56k Warn)
Force_Feedback replied to 3Sqn_Fudd's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Full throttle is a fuel guzzling experience in the Frog, you should cruise with 450 kph indicated at all times, remember it's the taxpayers' money, since Russia has not so many of them you should be careful with the kerosine usage :pilotfly: -
Interesting aircraft info.
Force_Feedback replied to geno409's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
That site seems, errm, 'popular'. Asides from the fishy looks it seems to be quite accurate, even though nobody on ths planet uses Imperial figures for measurement, but well, France is somehow evil, right... -
To me it seems like drag in not proportional to speed in lomac (decelleration wise), but that's just a eyeball mk. 1 observarion, nothing proven.

I meant my ride in a Mi-6, which is known as the Korova, Cow, nothing NATO about it.

The Ka-50 Black Shark thread

And its successor would be called 'каприз' :D -
Damn, them two sound too much alike, the first 30 seconds reminded my of late Jerry Goldsmith. His music is more consistent, with less 'progressive' ups and down, if it starts rough, it will be the whole track long, if it starts emotional, it may have some highs and lows, but will eventually remain in the emotional theme. His work for the sum of all fears, many star trek movies and that cold fusion flick (forgot the name of that one) are damn good. Why not give the F-35 a tvc nozzle, blow up the belly for more fuel, perhaps some boomie rods, and the F-22 can be sold to Israel or something for twice the price. Imagine the shows a light F-35 with tvc could give, wow. Crazy Russians, that Truck could have been reduced to metal strips not bigger than your average, errm, bullet.

Just funny that people try to compare relatively new designs to an old mig-29, and yet the mig-29 (ok, its nozzles) make it more agile, if thats not a good bang for the buck, then I don't know. Just lets wait for the MFI before we start making comparisons with the F-22, becasue everything flying around does not compare to it, not even the Rafale and EF-2000, because those had multirole capabilities built into their designs. It seems like the F-22 can do a lot more, but is hampered from doing it by something, be it the pilot or the computers. The F-22 is the best a lot of money can buy, the F-35 is the best solution for real life needs. EDIT: Hey, I've seen it with the music on @ home, well, itsn't that Jerry Goldmith's work? R.I.P. he was the best movie theme composer ever, no Hans Williams can match him, ever!

Ghostly Goings on at Belbek Air Base.
Force_Feedback replied to DPS's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It went back to hell, or... almost, still some thousands of kilometers to go. -
Yes, the Su-30mki and Mig-29OVT retain full responsiveness and control at high alpha, just because the control software doesn't allow certain roll/pitch rates on the f-22 doesn't mean the Sus and Migs suddenly got some control issues. This 'size doesn't matter' discussion is a bit useless, considered the migs and sukhois were mere upgrades of vintage 70-ies and eighties' designs, while the F-22 was already designed to have high thrust engines, TVC and all those things. Just like comparing the Mig-21-93 with a Block 52 F-16, sure they have nearly the same avionics, but the design itself is different. There are no other 5th gen aircraft flying, until then the F-22 will have the best T/W ratio and payload capability, but that doesn't matter the Russian planes suck, as some of them are 20 years older of design and can surpass the F-22 in some maneuvers. Why not allow them to pull the FCS breaker and try a proper Cobra with TVC locked out, then we'll discuss aerodynamics of the Su-27 and compare them to the F-22, even though they're 30 years apart. I'm almost inclined to say that people from the US are somehow believing the F-22 is some super plane as per LM propaganda towards the Congress, but seriousely, what do you expect for such sums of money? And against who are they trying to potentially use the F-22? It's too expensive to take on thirld world countries because of the risk of getting shot down, and against Russia/China they aren't effective as well due to extensive passive array developments over there, not to mention long wave radars to vector a missile that will do the terminal homing on itself. You can't use them for Jihad blasting as well, because of the MANPAD risk. So, why is tat thing flying at all? Any nations that can counter it can also send quite a lot of megatonnes of TNT with a radioactive side effect, and the countries that are likely to be invaded by the US either lack a proper air force, or the F-22 is deemed too high value to engage any 3rd gen Mig-21s and L-39s with rocket pods. They should halt the F-22 production immediately and concentrate on the F-35, which has some real growth potential and advanced systems (for its class).

I got the pleasure to hitch a ride in one of the 'Cows' in my early childhood, I still remember it quite well, and it very well may have been the inspiration of my aviation fetish.

Which one is more effective, this one or the Goalkeeper with only 1 gun (but a GAU-8). The Kashtan has some AI elements in it. Don't know if our secret squirrels made something like that for the Goalkeeper.
