  1. ED=Eagle Dynamics, come on, didn't you know the fighter collection had an F-22... Maybe in 30 years.
  2. And that's how real shaped charges look like, no big Hollywood fireballs (winks heavily to ED)
  3. Boom systems always allow roughly twice the transfer rate compared to hose based systems, on the other hand, with hoses you can refuel 3 times as many planes at a time.
  4. CRAP 50 dollars is like nothing in euros, with some luck you won't have to pay import taxes, BUT, that FAQ line makes all my dreams go up in smoke. Besides, my EVO is just fine, 3.5 years, and no jitters or messed up axes, that's quality Saitek, Logitech can learn from that (I hate Logitech sticks, sorry, had too many bad experiences with them, like 4 Wingmans, each wearing out their pots within a few months :/)
  5. Vikhrs are meant to be cheap, and immune to jamming, so they're beam riders, guess buddy lasing is possible, but I have no idea wether it's possible due to the beam gating issues, even if it's possible it would be only useful within a certain narrow angle, from behind the launching aircraft. The Ka-50 does have data linking, 4 Ka-50s max IIRC. And if that's not enough, just let the 5th member use signalling flares :P
  6. I have the Russian version as well, but I admit also having the English download version, and that's the one I'm using, although I hate the slowdowns at startup, I'm too lazy to mod it to english, and there is no need to as Russian is my native tounge. But I agree there is no need for the German, French and Spanish localisations, on the other hand it's probably a matter of changing a list of words. As long as it's not Chinese or Arabic writing, I'm ok with it :P With BS I'm getting both versions, the EN ens the RU ones, just for fun. The Russian version does have a slightly better encyclopedia section, which also states what mod of which system is used (the Buk-M1 for example, so it should be capable of shooting down ARMs).
  7. It doesn't just gives a bang sound, in flanker it did hurt you. But yeah, power lines and choppers seem to be hot here :P So that's mandatory for Black Shark :P Wonder if the Ka-50 is better at cutting cables than a conventional chopper. What about slight rotor inbalances, say the tip of one of them decides to disappear due to some object hitting either you or the other way around, how long until that thing will vibrate itself apart?
  8. Second video is still here http://vootatico.com/?p=300, second video, the first is the Russian one in which they brag how well they've done their UN tasks in Sierra Leone with 4 Mi-24s flying 8900 hours and striking fear and awe among the rebels. Also it brags on how great the soldiers were at volleyball, and how much fun they had with their Ukrainian 'bretheren' (who had both air and motorised divisions), attending their comedians and other extracurricular activities :P
  9. Avenger? The Avenger system is the most modern SAM in lomac, ofcourse it has data linking. To rephrase my statement, does the Stinger have it? And the Hawk? The KUB has it, the Shilka has it, heck even the wrongly moddled Strela-1, with its THREE finned missile with a television seeker (because it DOES have a front hemisphere attack capability, as it was designed with that in mind) has this feature, and those are well, ancient.
  10. Soviet SAMs for sure, as they all were designed from day 1 for datalinking, the problem is that if the fire control radar can't lock the target, the missiles can't receive guidance. This is solved by using the track via missile method, but I'm not sure which radars support such feature (if they do). I have this nice fat Russian book on all the SAMs, along with sensitivitiy figures and such, but im too lazy to look it up. I don't think this is modelled in lomac though.
  11. Ofcourse they have been zapped slightly, but it's not that bad as they were not grounded at the time (oh, you can make so many jokes on this matter, grounded, lol), and AFAIK they do have cable cutters, that minimised the damage, and judging from a photo in the paper there was no significant rotor damage. From the sound recording it does sound like there was heavy vibration (rotor inbalance?) afterwards. LOL, the part where the ATC asks wether Redskin 12 has a mobile phone on him :p
  12. No, that's why the Su-33UK (Su-27KUB) was made, it deals with the performance issues, and is in fact a much more capable platform than the Su-33 (more powerful engines with TVC, AESA radar, A2G capability, vastly improves AA cap., bigger wing area, better flaps).
  13. Serious study sim? Different standards mate, this is and always will be an entertainment product, no matter how the PR people call it. So unless somebody is willing to do a hefty investment (read: hundreds of thousands of €) for the appropriate hardware, this will always be a simulation game. And in games you can do things that you would never do in sims: use your fantasy. Sure the Ka-50 can take on a carrier, sure it can take on Santa, sure it can be friends with the Apache, surely it can be used to push back a parked AI aircraft. What you make of it is what you get, and everything you do is fine. AFM rotor blades, hmmmmmmm blades ***H. Simpson drool*** But still a game ;)
  14. Oh, our media is blowing this one up, the region that is affected is not exactly 'popular', nor is it important for the economy of the country, yet, the media treat it as some kind of 9/11. Things like these happen with helicopters, and people should not whine beause the power masts are still standing (could have collapsed) and the Apache crew and the Ah-64D are all fine (could have been 2 bodies and some metal on the bottom of the river). So seriousely, what's the big deal? Those affected did have power as there were plenty of emergency generators. Only reason I can think of is some kind of new drastic measure (read: it will screw us) from the government, so in 1 or 2 days it will leak out and the whole country will be in awe, just after the final decision has been made by the parliament. That's how things usually go with our 'liberal' media and unfavorable decisions made by our beloved leaders (sarcasm).
  15. Yeah, it would be fun to start your own virtual holy war in the mountains, you'll recruit some brave warriors, arm them with rudimentary ak-47s, rpg-7s and Strela-2 missiles. When you shoot something down, or ambush those pesky governmental vehicles, you gwt better weapons, like DsHKMs, maybe a Zsu-23-2 and Iglas. After that, you'll have a force the opressors will to take into acount every time they decide of a nice flight over the region. No damn Ka-50 can beat a 3 point ambush, by the time the pilot knows what's happening at least 3 brave missiles would have hit it. Then you can capture the pilot and exchange him for more weapons. DCS: Mujahideen will feature all those features, and you'll be able to create your own idiotology to convert more followers in your online struggle for freedom, while experienced Ka-50 and Apache mercenary pilots would try to hunt you down in the mountains. Version 1.2 will feature new weapons and units, like women, foreign warriors, suicide bombers and a special comfy, modular Semtex belt system, allowing it to be carried by your smallest and thinnest, and thickest and tallest warrior of your predetermined faith. SEM-BELT-2000© will even allow to engage helicopters (only once) up to an altitude of 40 m, this due to the specialy designed fragmentation effect hat, with kevlar on the back side :P ^ I need a good operation flashpoint/Armed Assault campaign. :/
  16. The Shkval IS designed to lock up airborne targets, best gate size is 22m, that's why the Vikhr has a proximity fuse, it too IS designed to engage airborne targets.
  17. Surely that all can be done, so when are you planning on buying a supercomputer to simulate all the trees? Heck, we should get a treesim, kind of like that weed growing game, only with pines and stuff. Then sell the wood that you chopped down with your coaxial hacksaw. Yeah, Ka-50: tree tycoon. Let the videos of tree trimming choppers, be it with a saw or with the natural saw overhead.
  18. Yeah, when can we get teh Titanic kind of steaming up in BS? Sorry for the sarcasm, but I'd rather have more different rocket warheads (chaff would be fun, as will flachette) rather than a good steam up effect and the ability to draw dirty things on the windows. While we're on the subject, can't ED model a roll of sticky tape so we can make various sized dicks on the windows all around, so we can play a prank on.... oh wait, you're the only one inside.
  19. I have Russian sources stating the 2a42 on the Ka-50 has a 1-2 mrad dispersion, which is 4 times less than that of the Ah-64A. Just use common sense guys, the barrel is more than twice the length and it's more than twice as heavy, combine that with a more powerful round. Well, the rest is ballistic physics and wind deflection. Surprisingly, the engagement limits of the 2a42 and m230 are similar, which is remarkable due to the lighter and smaller 30mm rounds used in the m230 (as they're not subcalliber). infrantry: 4000m for both, lightly armored targets, 1500m for both. and subsonic air targets 2500m for the 2a42. So roughly the 2a42 is at least twice as powerful and 4 times as accurate as the m230, and all that is cool in lomac where you don't have different wind speeds over the trajectory of the bullet, in the real world you have some more variables. good to know 10 rounds if the minimum we can fire. PS that last pic is surreal, really nice photo.
  20. All the Su-22s can carry the pod rearward, not all of them have the ability to aim it precisely though.
  21. It's not really the UTG, as it lacks the hook (so use your brake chute wisely). There is no known way other than a model swap with the su-33 (basically the su-33 with a different exterior).
  22. Do you need to press U (i know, im lazy). If this bug really is repeatable, does it then mean we can land the su-25T (install brit's su-25UTG mod, so its landable), and then shoot off from cat 4? Wonder how afm will react to that sudden speed increase.
  23. Praise Ja... SWITCH, the switchology god. Peace out, I just use the KB for buttonology (we switchologists think they are descended from the devil, and hence shall burn and we will show no mercy), damn, I admitted it, now the switchologists are going to kill me and then rape my skull.
  24. I joint the church of switchology, when is the first mass suicide?
