  1. I am sure they also made some modifications on the ECM systems to counter certain missiles and radars, it seems a logical thing to do at least. Offcourse, no Smotr special on that one in the coming 10 years :P
  2. Make that two. Looks really nice, less evil. The black camo scheme reminds me of airwolf, and makes it scary somehow. When will the V-2500 engines be installed?
  3. All I tried to say that the new OLS system is not some uber-anti stealth device to dominate skies and spread US, errm Russian propaganda all over the net. The advantage of the new system is the ability to identify aircraft at WVR ranges (a human eye can't see the difference between different fighters at 15km), and more importantly present it to the pilot in a visual form, so he too can see what is flying up there. The same applies for down below, allows for tracking of targets and automatic target recognition. The missile and laser warning system gives the vector of the threat, and deploys countermeasures if needed. It also gives better situational awareness for the crew. I would say this aircraft is perfect for it's probable intended role: ground pounding at stand off ranges, to fight insurgents. And that is a smart decision, because making an air dominance-only plane is not suitable for this time.
  4. Funny or not, on the real mig-29SE you have to wait for 4 minutes before the ECM system has done all the warming-up/checks/reconaissance, so you can flick that switch ever 0.00003 seconds, but it won't do squat. Comprare it with a bot that turns a semi-automatic weapon, say a Beretta pistol, into an auto fire weapon, well, using such thing with shooters will get you hardware banned...
  5. And if you actually understood what they said, you'd know the detection range is 15 km from the front and 45 from the rear aspect.... For a mig-29... So even if it sees the f-22 from 30km, an amraam will already be on its way. Sure, it actually 'sees' things from that far, but detection range wise nothing has changed, or at least to the lead constructor. The cool thing is that the system can identify what kind of plane that is (good IFF advantage), but besides the 'smarts', it still can't detect fighters at 100km from the front aspect, so yes it gives you great SA and more effective countermeasure deployment, but nothing more. Ground pounding wise this system is very useful, it identifies threat vehicles and aircraft, decides upon deployment of countermeasures. The head also says that future developments would be to improve the system's intelligence rather than increasing detection range. Also, this system is not related to the vanilla EOS system on the su-27/mig-29, so no 'yeah, but in the mig manual...'
  6. Heh, a well-paid guy I guess, writing with so much 'enthusiasm'. I tested the vanilla x-52 is the shop, and I hated it, the thing is way too sloppy, the lights are reatrded. The whole set reminds me of christmas somehow :P Heh, and that all coming from a guy who owns an EVO. Why can't Logitech make durable sticks that don't wear out in 2 months? Those things are stable, give good resistance, giving you the feel that you control something, and not play air guitar. Yet, I hate Logitech sticks wholehartedly.
  7. Is it the one against the tank and against the il-16 drone? Oh well, lazy assed me could also dl it.
  8. These have twice the range, imagine the BVR possibilities compared to the Chinese ones.
  9. I'm wondering, if someone would post a photo of his ass instead of his face, would that be ok, or would it violate some copyright law, implying it's Martha Stewart's face?
  10. Oh it's actually useful, I thought it was some retarded recognition guide saying how to distinguish between tandem rotors and classic rotor shemes :P
  11. Just wanted to say that I'm against blinking and cm macros, ED made the game, don't try to mod something that doesn't exist, and if you do use CM macros, read the manual for the intervals used for each plane, or even better, for fair play, don't use them at all. Rage on!
  12. This may sound dull, maybe hostile or patronising, but it's not meant that way, but did you play a training mission (called 'Track') for the Su-25 or su-25T? You press '2', line-up the yellow aiming marker with your taget, you hear a tone *beeeeeeep*, you squeeze the trigger/press space, and off she goes!
  13. Heh, I brought it back to the store after I tried controlling the Blackhawk with a joystick :/ I got a bit mad b/c it had no joystick support, I was all like 'Well, how the f*** am I going to fly all aircraft?' (said it in the shop quite loudly :P). The funs 'felt' plastic too, like CS guns feel. Now America's Army, well, it rules realism wise, it's no sim, but now some 'run around use healthpacks frag other 9yr olds with some rocket launcher (the nightmare called UT). It's my twisted opinion, and believe me, I'm no die hard sim buff that flies with HOTAS, trackir or oxygen mask, but having such games makes me think the devs were just too lazy to actually deliver something plausible :/ I don't care if a game is buggy or unoptimized like lomac, but it has something of a 'Wow, the programmers did their best' feel to it, while BF and especially UT is like 'Heh, they've upped the number, raised sys specs, and brushed up the textures, still the same point & click'.
  14. Is that real in-game footage, or is it a render, because if that's in game, then, then, then.... REAL HARRIER, MIRAGE AND SKYHAWK carrier ops, omg.
  15. Huh, I thought it was yak-52M, Yak-130 (since it's an AJT and a lead-in JT in one), Su-27KUB, Su-33? Once the KUB is operational there is no need for the dodo UTG, same applies for the Yak-130, but it has to finish goverment trials fiirst, and the KUB lags even further behind, as it's still in the prototype/flight testing stage, AFAIK it's not yet accepted for state trials.
  16. I was referring to the incident on 16-06-2000 with that new digital FCS, when the right canard ripped off, damaging the cockpit section and the right side canopy. All the sources I've read state a G limit of 8.5 for both the Su-27K as the -KUB. The basis for testing the KUB was the su-27IB, which in turn became the Su-34/32, only after those a real su-27KUB came to life, so it is derrived from the Su-34, but is based on the su-27k airframe, rather than being a more radical modification like the su-34. 'Inspired by' would be a better description I guess ;) As for belly landings, well, the canopy hatches can be jettisoned, or removed by the ground crew if time is not the issue. I don't think belly landings are an option on a carrier deck, especially on the Kuznetsov, when land bases are out of reach it's either refuel in mid-air to reach land, or a controlled ejection. The cool thing is that the KUB has now FP engines and that with a bigger wing surface and similar empty weight should make it superior to the vanilla su-27K, so pilots would be trained on an airframe that is better than the ones they will be flying after :P
  17. OMG a silent bob, cool, how much is a dime bag?
  18. Jaw dropping, this one is in-game for Ace combat 5 And this is for 6 eek!!!
  19. Mig-15s should have a small head on RCS, the fan blades are hidden well :P BTW, is Albania still flying them? So Alfa, when will the Russians allow press near the 27-KUB? That thing has nearly the same fetish-value for me as the su-34/32/27FN, so that's why I require a cabin and cockpit shot (and close-ups of the seats and canopy hatches). Is it still having the Zhuk-ME, or did they install some newer radar? Now if it only got the nice flat nose from the su-34, then it would be an uber plane. And is it still limited to 8.5 G (I know, 0.5 G means squat, but still) Oh, and did they fix the FSC, or do the canards still fly off at high speeds?
  20. Now that's what I wanted to see in Chevailliers du Ciel :notworthy:
  21. Is it better than the fibre optics? If so, to hell with this itchy junk, and if I can download at over 12 mbyte/sec, I'm all ears, oh wait, I'm all butt.
  22. OLS-29K or something (or was it ols-27K), I thought that it was 'navalized', I know it's newer, but never knew it had better performance.
  23. Just wanted to say that I adore the Slammer humvee, it's small, has big bad ass missiles on it, looks just awesome, guess it has a good bite too. What about the Starstreak based ADS? It has advanced thermal imaging devices , and those penetrators look so damn evil, too bad the UK sells them, if they had some satan sticker, I would totally believe it. Plus, if some pesky BMP comes near, well, it will get 3 or more holes in no time.
  24. It had them for a long time, also the eniges are uprated producing 13-something tonnes on AB, but it's kind of funny, the trainer is very advanced and has a classified cockpit configuration, the single seater lags like 20 years compared to the n00b friendly trainer. TVC improves low speed performance, and with a student pilot, you need control at the lowest possible speed. Also the Su-25UTG has very weak engines, again, less room for error.
