So what exactly will be "possibly" in Black SharK?
Force_Feedback replied to VVanks's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
6dof=6fps=666=\m/ Now only the money for that 'ATI Quad Crossfire X2500 whatever is te best thing out there' thingy. And, please no epic ejection sequence with Spielberg camera views you can't pause. And remember, the chopper will start falling down AFTER the rotors are jettisoned... Jes, I had the joy to see EECH1+ (aka EECH2) in action, damn it's just EECH1 with new textures, what a rip-off. So, don't rush the BS release, we want a game to surpass Team Alligator, not equal it except for textures :P (I know the AFM will take care of that) -

I don't give a damn who makes or buys the plane, if the thing looks nice, flies well and does that cheap then it's a good thing, no matter who made it. As long as they won't bother me, they can blow each other up several dozen times, and I don't care who starts, be it the US, Malawi or Lichtenstein, just as long as they kill/rape (no nukes, fall-out reaches everywhere)/blow-up/behead eachother, I don't give a flying nut who is good or evil. If people can't solve issues in a normal way, then they deserve to die. That plane looks nice, but I like it more sans canopy :P -

FARPs, lets hope they're su-25(t) landable -
That's why there are such things as flight testing... If the thing has been properly designed it should drop clear of the aircraft fine.

And it has dual R-77 mounts between the engines, nice (LOPE meint h4x) And it still has a 'crappy' IRST system with a 60 degree gimbal limit, the new (really new, not upgraded) one of the mig-35 has a 90 degree gimbal limit. A nice plane, too bad the engine development is lagging even more behind today. Let's hope Al-41s successor will be competative. I mean the engines are good for their time, but it seems like the al-31 series has reached its maximum potential. -
The ACESII is a good seat, but since it's not moddled, well, have fun with that lawn chair in your pit.

And the things that actually get the missile at the general direction of the target, aka the control sections are for sure made by DKB Luch, or at least, they build those things, don't know if they have any customers. I should use my Russian more, any links to useful TVC(jet engine engine) info? Be it American or Russian. Shouldn't the MFI/PAK-FA (they previousely were different projects, and now they're the same?) prototype take flight like by the end of this year? If they're still on schedule, which I doubt, we'll see some pics. -
That yak-130 looks porked, the canopy is way wider and bigger, also the proportions are wrong, it's short and waaay tooo piggy-like, the real deal is a little bit bigger. And tha page says 'Mig-29' :/ Oh, if only we would get a Yak-130 with the Ai-222-25 engines, AFM and a two-page MFD without any detail. Man, that would be like a dream come true, no need for afterburners, this baby does it all with 'cold' engines. I love that thing, it's extremely agile with no TVC or other 'cheats', fuel efficient and has some classic trainer looks. Plus, I like MDC lines on canopies. Oh cool, my mental care institution admittance just arrived by mail :P (j/k) Hardest Sukhoi p0rn ever!!!!

Is the R-77 using the same nose cone and frequencies as the R-27? ;););) Then no ;) The R-77 is being dropped because Russia doesn't have an industrial base to build the R-77 (the seekers and guidance related stuff is made in Ukraine), that's why they're dropping the R-77 in favor of a new, indigenous missile, to appear when the MFI disaster will start flying (that is in like 10 years, and another 20 to put two dozens in service) -
Now they should release zero-point energy and everything will be fine. Or are they thinking they can earn big bucks with H2 sale? Or maybe continue with the fusion for hydrogen gig, but that isn't really profitable. Oh well, I'm sure in the next 40 years we'll see some kind of finite and profitable energy carrier, be it some battery type you can charge with your trusty oil company-branded chargers or some other gizmo that won't produce CO2, but will case your balls to crumble over time. I guess they're afraid we'll build laser based U-238 purifiers in our basements :/. So let's hope we'll blow eachother to kingdom come before zero point energy will be revealed :/ Same applies to quantum computers, photon based computers and everything else that may pose a risk to 'national security', or increase privacy. Jeesh, can you imagine living without everyone knowing what you did 5 minutes ago :/ No, I'm not drunk/whatever, just stating that governments use every excuse possible to justify various intrusions into our lives, and this thin display will surely be used to 'inform' us, good citizens on how to behave and think.

Oh, I remember the times we had threads to discuss that aspect of MFDs on the ubi forums, lol. The 'new' Su-35 lacks canards, because the manufacturer said that due to a new flight control system revision the plane is as responsive witout canards as it would have been with them installed. -

Force_Feedback replied to 666th_birdy's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Lol, only the F-16s have the horses under the hood to actually take-off? The F-CK-1A/C have crappy engines, they produce like 1/3 of a -404 like on the F-18C, which gives it an empty t/w ratio of something like 0.6, and that's with full afterburner. A shame, put powerful engines in that thing and it will sooo whoop that F-16 ass, man, they will be crying like little girls. But barely 4 tonnes of thrust on afterburner is just sad, it deserves better IMHO. -
The Ka-50 Black Shark thread

Still makes no sense as the Hermes-A has 3x the range of the Ataka, and the ataka is radio guided, which needs new equipment, which means $$$ -
The Ka-50 Black Shark thread
Force_Feedback replied to Force_Feedback's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
That's strange, I thought they planned the Ka-50 to carry the Hermes missile with a 15-18km range for the air launched modification, and 40 and 100km for the land based variants with an additional booster engine. The advantage over the Vikhr is a combined inertial-laser seeker, allowing for short illumination times (and even with the Vikhr the maximum laser time was something like 28 sec.), and possibly reducing cost that would be associated with a fire and forget seeker. The interesting bit is that the Khrizantema has radar guidance, while in the case of the Hermes it's clearly stated that radar guidance would be too impractical for aircraft use. Never heard of the Khrizantema being considered for the Ka-50. Khrizantema is one of the best, if not the best antitank missile made by the Russians ever, but it lacks the range needed for A-G emploment. But it may very well be adapted for the mi-28N, given its 'cheap, mass produced' status, and preference over the Ka-50. So the ka-50 with Hermes-A will be used for SEAD of close ranged ADS, while the Khrizantema + Mi-28 combo will be used for antitank warfare. -
Yeah, I found it, and already removed all that junk from my hd, it still sucks because I can't pause the ejection sequence.

RIP Sad to see this, the tutor is just like a C-37, right? ie same crappy bangseats. -
It was said that it will be 'slightly more' demanding than FC, so, for me, only one unit on the map in BS, yes, the Ka-50. Until then, can somebody gove me a link for those EE: Commanche Hokum mods? I can't find the site.

Just like rpm-checking some machinery, you place a nice storbe in front of it, match the speed, and it will appear to be standing still, no matter the rpm, be it 10, 1000, or 9999999999999999, it will appear to stand still. Cameras shoot at 25-30 fps so the rotor speed is something like 25-30-ish revs per second. No magic or CGI involved. It does look cool, might be useful for in-flight damage assessment, just give the wingman a similar camera, and should the need arise he can look through the cam to see the cause of those horrible vibrations jumping between 5 places in 1/5th of a second :P Those Mi-24 rotor disks are the crudest looking rotors I've ever seen, they just look like rectangular metal boards with too many rivets to be aerodynamic, yet they keep that piggy in the air. Now that is a mystery

OT: What are your doing with yourself
Force_Feedback replied to DPS's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
In X-plane I only do the long final approach, I suck at space navigation, maybe it's cause I'm spaced myself. Maybe it's time for that lingering Oribter addiction that plays up from time to time. -
It's about angle of attack limitations by the flight control system. Straight line: 5G 16 degrees angle of attack. Interrupted line: Max. load factor (G) and max. angle of attack. This has nothing to do with overspeeding, just the control limitations at different speeds.
