That would be an awesome capability once the A-6 comes out. If there is a reason to have the capability I suspect ED will do it. I haven't done enough research to know how the SLAM was used. I'm guessing it would all come down to the pylons. Do you know if they ever did co-operative guidance for the Walleye? I've made some low level pop up missions with it, and having a guidance bird in trail would be a definite advantage. Both SLAM and Walleye are extremely fun weapons. I'm looking forward to using at least the Walleye in a more historically accurate aircraft.

How many A-7Ds are currently in service? How many Iraqi tanks were killed by A-7Ds? I agree with your friend. I actually think the A-10 was a mistake. ED I love your A-10, but I'm speaking of IRL. Most of the A-10s tank kills were with Mavericks. The A-7D carried Mavericks. The A-10 has a better gun that is devastating against infantry, trucks, and light armor. But the F-16 has made good use of its gun against the same targets. The F-16 dose kinda plug the same role as the A-7, but I don't think it has the legs, or the carrying capacity of the A-7. Ultimately the Air Force had the F-15E, and the A-10 which they saw as superior in their respective roles to the A-7D. But the A-7 Could do both close air support and deep penitrateing ground attack roles do a fairly decent degree. Unfortunately for the A-7 while stull effective there were other aircraft that were ether more generalized, or more specialized its role. Now most CAS gets carried out with bombs. Could you imagine A-7 we will call it a G. One upgraded with GPS/INS, a targeting pod, data links, and 15,000lbs worth of laser JDAMs.

Let's just get the Eco first. But IN THE FUTURE a Delta would be sweet. The biggest difference I think was the ability to carry the USAF Maverick for AT use. I think it was basically in the same role that was later filled by the A-10. It would be a cool nich jet. But the Eco saw way more late cold War action.

I've read that the A-7Es used in Desert Storm were eqiped with and used the AGM-84E SLAM. If this is true please consider adding this awesome weapon to our SLUF. I know it's a late weapon, but Desert Storm was by far the largest operation the Eco module took part in. The SLAM is extremely fun to use in DCS, but feels weird to fire from a 2000's era F-18. It would be right at home on a late A-7E though, that is if it actually carried it IRL. This is definitely the Module I'm looking forward to the most, closely followed by the F-4E, and the Mig-23?MLA. I'm really glad you guys chose to do it. After reading the end of year development report it seems you are making something really special here. Having a SLAM on it would make it even that much better.

Please at some point update the cockpit textures. It's odd to see things like the fan on the Mi-8 be a different visual effect then the one on the Mi-24. I know you all are vary busy and this is definitely a back burner item. But it's a really fun chopper. It's be really nice to see it updated.

Same, it's still one of my favorite moduals. Also there are several contemporary assets coming. Having a retextured cockpit to fight in would be pretty sweet.

And fly them into combat. Hopefully the CH-47 will have a if it fits it flys feature like thay are saying the C-130J will have. Being a bit of a big bird will alow it to move enough fire power to the front to really affect a battle. I'm vary vary curious as to how it will plug into a dynamic campaign.

Ai Wingman Commands Like the A-10C For All Modules
FlankerKiller replied to FlankerKiller's topic in DCS Core Wish List
No, even in VAICOM the A-10 has more commands. You can tell your wingmen what to attack, with what weapon, and vary importantly from what direction. And now it all works. I cannot understand why this is not a standard feature of all modules. -
Well that is good news. I can't imagine what "market research" could possibly say that the most successful air superiority fighter ever made would not sell in DCS.
-
So you might make it????
-
I hate to say it, but this conversation is pointless. They are not going to do it. They have their reasons, what ever they are. But they have already said it's off the table. It sucks, but it is what it is.

#Dragon1-1, regardless of the effectiveness the question is do they exist IRL? If the answer is yes, then it would be nice to have them in DCS. Just having the WWII flak, and the big Soviet gun I'd a huge improvement.

I mean that's neat. But the detection logic is pretty good these days. I would rather see it implemented in an organic way. -
With all the improvements to the detection logic, it would be pretty awesome to be advantages of that with triggers. For example, Detected force ratio of group < 1:4, hold. Or return to previous waypoint. That way an attack would could hold if it Detected a large enough force.

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling like I've got more then enough modules. I really hope they work on the core of the game. Having a good overall Ai, a dynamic campaign, and better ATC would make the enjoyment of these modules so much better.

A detected in zone trigger. Ai detection is really good now. A detected in zone trigger would alow jets to "sit alert", Sam sites to go active, you name it. But it would also reward player skill. It would be really nice to have this when making missions. -
Currently armor are just sitting ducks, and ships are not fully able to defend themselves. The armor has some kind of trigger left over from the beginning of dcs to release some kind of "smoke". In thr reality of DCS it dose nothing. It just says that the unit has taken damage. Almost all tanks can fire a smoke screen. And they should be able to in game. I'm assuming that if a laser is detected, or a missile is seen inbound that they fire the smoke to blind the seeker. So something like that would be nice. Ships do have countermeasures just like jets. They have Chaff that they can fire off between them and inbound missiles. They also have flares to blind and confuse IR seekers. We know that the chaff has been used IRL to good effect. It's absence in DCS is noticeable.

"do you have any sources on the 'sold poorly' bit? I've never seen any numbers. I thought (hoped?) that they deduced that it sold so well that people were even willing to pay for an upgrade. Again, I have no sources for that." It's called sarcasm. I'm pretty sure that contract saved DCS, or allowed it. My understanding is the USAF bird was the stripped down version, minus Echo Mavs. I've already said my piece on the sales numbers. I mean i get it almost nobody flies air to air, all the big servers are air to ground only, and nobody wants to be Mavric, or a modern day Edward Von Ric Toven. Air to air is just so boring. Even in real life. Look at how the press just covers those helicopter pilots in Ukraine We know their call signs the number of targets they've hit, and then there are all the theories as to who they are and if they are still alive. Not like that no name jet ace. So I'm certain that a pure air superiority fighter, one that has IRL killed over a hundred bandits to no losses, One that has seen action in every significant air battle since the mid 1970's, one that was so hard to replace that a version of it will replace the vary jet commissioned to replace it, and one that has a significant start on development already, yes I'm 100% certain that there just aren't enough DCS players willing to buy the most iconic modern fighter there is to cover the cost of development.

I've been here a long ass time. I asked about another FC3 plane "way back in the day" the answer was something about Ubisoft owning the rights to the FC3 birds, and that being the reason that they won't be upgraded. There was a time when Belsimtek was talking about upgrading the F-15C. That was apparently why it got its PFM, and differential breaks. But we should all know how that story went. But the consistent party line since 2009 has been that the FC3 birds will remain FC3. I'm trying to poo poo this without poo pooing it. The F-15C we have would have to be my most desired fighter. I've got more hours in it going all the way back to 2004 then anything else. Every base I was ever stationed at had them. Even today hearing that sound their afterburners make right as one pulls into a max performance climb gets my blood pumping. But as it stands it is not going to happen.

@Rick50Lots of words, not alot of points. The FF A-10C sold so poorly that they decided to do another paid version. I doubt that many wouldn't spend just as much to get the A model. Also the Phantom was certainly not shelved. Look at the timeline. It was announced my Belsimtek back in 2018. Then Belsimtek was reabsorbed into ED. And here in 2022 it's expected this year. That is a normal development time for any complex module. The F-15 is an Icon. It's an undefeated champion of airpower that doesn't just have a reputation from exercises. It actually killed Migs. It was the last air superiority fighter that was actually used as an air superiority fighter. To believe that it won't sell to a bunch of aircombat enthusiasts is just laughable. Also I believe the F-15C we do have was the first jet to get the Professional Flight Model. They didn't call it that with the A-10. It received that upgrade back in 2013. I have no idea why ED won't grab this low hanging fruit. But they won't. I don't thing they're telling us why. But thay have said why the FC3 planes won't be developed in the past. And honestly I'm somewhat fine with that. They have their reasons. Is what it is. But to say people won't buy it, come on man. It is the air superiority fighter.

I don't know. I do know Ubisoft has some kind of clame to the FC birds. There is no way any market research said that the Eagle would less profitable then the Hind. Also air to air is a huge part of online play. And as mentioned it's already half finished. The FM is done, a bunch of the underlying systems are done, the cockpit is mostly done. Hell I bet thet could finish it, sell it at a reduced price, and still turn a profit. And I just don't believe it wouldn't sell. It's too capable for that. Like I said the price alone could sell it. But they will not do it. The why is baffling. I would say we keep wishing on it and maybe they will change there mind.

What Helicopter Module do you wanna see next?
FlankerKiller replied to Tank50us's topic in DCS Core Wish List
There was a Marine aviation unit at my base for several years. The two rotor Cobra and Huey are fucking awesome! I've seen Cobras doing return to target turns, and the sound is absolutely amazing. It just thumps in your chest. It cool but damn those four rotor birds are quite. Like if there is any real noise. A generator running down the line, standing next to a running truck, anything you just don't hear them. I've turned around to see a super Huey just sitting there in ground effect more times then I can count. They are truly awesome aircraft. -
Not just Korea, there are a tone of proxy wars from that time. The French, British, American, and Soviet aircraft industry were in full swing. There were lots of air battles, lots of cool unique aircraft, and alot of the WWII assets already fit.
