[ATTN ALL DEVS] MARTIN B-57B CANBERRA DATA COLLECTION
FlankerKiller replied to SOLIDKREATE's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Please, such a cool jet. Also I want the downward fireing mini guns. -
I've been against this in the past, but after a ton of research I have changed my mind. I do think it would have to be a multi version aircraft. But that is becoming normal for DCS modules. I also think it's right up the old Bellsimteck teams ally. Once the Hind is done this would be a cool project. You would need the Interceptor, Reconnocence, and SEAD versions in my opinion. The SEAD version would be particularly valuable in a late cold War type scenario. Working with the Fishbed, Flogger, and Hind it would ba a valuable asset to clear out SAMs. Especially going up against the Patriot. It's got the speed to get out of doge if fighter are inbound too. The Interceptor version would struggle in air to air if it was Alone. But it wouldn't be alone. It would be backed up by Fishbeds, and Floggers. Remember the Soviets were supposed to have the numbers advantage. I've often thought a good tactic would be to have the Foxbats go in for the BVR fight. Just to tie up the Western fighters, and maybe thin them out a bit. Then turn and run letting the Fishbeds git close and mix it up a bit. It's a BVR Fox one fighter. But a good one. Remember this this did kill a Hornet. It did damage an Egale, and it did get close enough to a pair of Egales to be engaged in a classic dogfight. If those Egale driver hadn't picked the Foxbats on the deck up visually then it's likely that the Egale wouldn't have its undefeated record. Point is this thing was a dangerous fighter before the days of the AMRAAM. It would bring some much needed capabilities to the Reds. It would be a super cool and unique aircraft in DCS. And it would fit right into the mix of late cold War jets and choppers already in DCS and on the way. The good news about multiple versions is they are each much simpler then any modern multi role fighter.

Ok this is a big ask. I'm not even sure how to accomplish it. But we have some scout helicopters now. It would be really cool if we could use them in their intended role. The way I'm invisioning this is you have several marking devices. Say laser and smoke rockets. Say you call up the radio menu and call a CAS bird in your area. Maybe one orbiting at a safe distance with a Search and Engage in enroute task. Then give a request for support in the general vicinity of where you are. Map grid GPS coordinate. Honestly I'm fine with just pointing the sight and it gives a rough estimate. The jet then comes inbound to the target with the normal radio call outs. Once it calls in you mark the target with an appropriate mark. A laser if you have one and the CAS bird had a spot tracker. If not a smoke rocket. At that point the Ai CAS bird attacks the mark with the appropriate weapon. Example, a Maverick if it's a vehicle and it has one. Or bombs for infantry. You could make whatever is around the target visible, or just have the Bird attack the mark if it can't find a target. If you can't mark the target maybe just make it a temporary Search and Engage In Zone task. The bird comes in searches and attacks what it can find if it finds anything. have no idea how to program this. But it would be an awesome addition allowing for player controlled AFAC and would alow a new and interesting type of mission to be flown. It would also be a really good addition to the dynamic campaign once it come out.

Cargo Aircraft in DCS and why we need it
FlankerKiller replied to Devil 505's topic in DCS Core Wish List
What civilian flight Sims can't offer is having flak, enemy fighters, SAMs or your mission actually affecting a virtual battle. It's not the same experience without those elements. The C-130 is going to be sweet. Stuff for the early cold war would be awesome too. Especially since the early cold war is set to get some love. -
I think we have to think of this like a new open Beata module. There are lots of rough spots that are going to need ironing out. But they've already put a ton of work into it to redevelop it to this point. I suspect they will continue to improve it. It's a fun little module now. Just give it some time to mature.

We have the Mirage 2000, The F1, and now a proper Gazelle. If we had one French 80's era ground ponder, preferably one that could do SEAD work we would have a whole late cold War, early to mid 90's French airforce. While not really fixing the red vs blue balance having a whole other country represented in DCS would be awesome. Especially a late cold War Gulf War era eroupian country.

SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update
FlankerKiller replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
I'm not a helicopter pilot, and certainly not a Gazelle pilot. But I did some serious testing with this thing and I can say it definitely flies like a DCS chopper now. I have a vary good HOTAS setup so it's not as twitchy to me as others report. I also spend alot of time just flying helicopters in DCS. I didn't really compare it to the Huey, because something with the Huey feels off compared to the other choppers. But I did lots of test. One was to test ground effect and transitional lift. Put the thing in a ground effect hover. Then take your hand off the collective. Fly out of the hover and control altitude and airspeed with just the cyclic. I compared it directly against the Hind. They both behave about the same. You climb out, find an equilibrium airspeed, fly around. Then as you slow down you start to sink. Keep some forward airspeed to manage your sink rate and stay out of VRS and you will decend until you feel the air cushion you as you reenter ground effect. The thing definitely feels like it's a pendulum being suspended under a rotor. And just like the Hind, Hip, Apache it turns on way much better then the other. Left in the case of the Gazelle. It's weird that the cyclic is held the the left. But that is addressed earlier in this thread, and is apparently accurate. I find hovering to be easier then the Apache, because I don't feel like the tail rotor is fighting me the whole time. I do hope that one day they can come up with a Petrovich style Ai for this. Or maybe work a deal with ED. But even as is its usable. Just once you've had that Ai it's noticeably lacking. They say this is the first interation of the new FM. And for basically a new module this thing feels good. -
SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update
FlankerKiller replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Thank you. I've been waiting for years for the Gazelle to have a proper FM. I'm really looking forward to taking this thing out for some light attack scout work. It's really nice to see this bird getting some love. It makes me feel alot better about the Kiowa when it's ready. I know it's a tall order but I do hope you guys can one day get an Ai similar to the Gorge/Peteovitch Ai. That would make using the Hot missiles so much better. That and hopefully one day you can get something like the simple Ai for the mini gun equipped Gazelle. COIN opes in this thing are going to be amazing. -
Unified co-pilot AI for all DCS helicopters.
FlankerKiller replied to bies's topic in DCS Core Wish List
+1. I know it's your intellectual property. But a helicopter Ai would make the third party choppers so much more attractive. And you do get a cut of third party sells. -
I would definitely buy this. We need more cold war European aircraft, and more mud movers in general.
-
You can kinda try to make them do this but it dosen't really work. As we've seen from the real world pop up attacks are extremely useful when attacking targets in vary well defended airspace. It would be awesome to have the ability to set pop up attack in the ground attack mission options.

Exactly, my point is the modules came first, then the map. If there is a demand for the late war eastern front a map will eventually happen. But having a map has nothing to do with the validity of a module in DCS. OctopusG does not make maps. And that's fine. I would rather them make awesome Soviet aircraft. But a map will eventually come. What the LA-7 dose have is opponents. It's a unique historical aircraft that is going to fit in well with the German aircraft already in game.
-
I promise you when theP-51D and later the FW-190D released there was no map. It wasn't even going to go anywhere. The maps, WWII assets, and other WWII modules came around because of the interest in the P-51D and WWII in DCS.
-
Actually I specified the EB for a reason. I personally prefer to practice flying without all the gunsites and weapons delivery options in the way. That being said I certainly hope this paves the way for a T-6, and an AT-6. But I'll buy it to get a western turboprop trainer to practice just flying and acrobatics in. But there is also the historical fact that this thing didn't really carry weapons for most of its life. I watched the video above and that would be sweet. Im not sure of the year though. The AT-6 is vary advanced. Which would make it pretty awesome. But it wouldn't really fit in with anything else. One thing to think about if you don't buy a modual is if it doesn't get sales then you can guarantee it won't get further development. All that being said one thing I would love to see I'd a small light attack aircraft with at least flares, and an RWR. I'm not sure how COIN aircraft are supposed to survive in the era of manpads without flares. To conclude I'm not arguing against having armed light attack aircraft for COIN type operations. Really the opposite I'm the guy that has a wish list request for Rosie the Rocketer somewhere. It would be cool and you know it. And if Razbam ever gets an A-29 out its a day one buy from me. Hopefully we get better infantry for such operations soon. But this aircraft passed from a maybe to a will buy from me because it's an older version of the T-6, or more accurately the aircraft that the T-6 was developed from. Which means it scratches multiple itches for me.
-
Honestly a map would be nice. But maps.and modules are not linked in DCS. The P-51D, and F-190D certainly didn't have a map for years. Hell the F-14 dosen't have a map. Name one historical operation that the F-14 actually took part in that happend over any map we have. Often the module builds the interest, then a map follows.
-
So apparently this thing is the base for the T-6. Which means it's a day one buy from me. I love to use DCS as a flight simulator anyway. I'm at the point in life that a perfect overhead pattern gets me just as excited as a massive fur ball. Also I want to simulate crop dusting and this is kinda in the same class as the Texteon. Being an older version from the 80's is even more awesome.

So,whats going on with this then ?
FlankerKiller replied to badger7966's topic in DCS: A-7E Corsair II
Yeah but OctopusG can actually get a plane out. Also I would suspect theirs is the only one in production right now. The one in the video seemed to be well in to development. The only relevance that has to this thread is that in the SLUF we will likely encounter them. Which will be interesting. -
I just wanted to drop by and say I'm waiting to give you my mony. I'm actually really excited for this one. I used to love playing IL2 and this was always an interesting aircraft. The I-16 was never my cup of tea, not in IL2 or yours, I just don't like it enough to get used to it. But that is not the case for the La-7. I always loved to fly the IL2 version, and I expect I will fall in love with yours. I cannot wait to feed on some BF-109K4s.

Which version of the Su-17 did OctopusG teas? I know you were all in the discussion. -

FlankerKiller replied to badger7966's topic in DCS: A-7E Corsair II
Well you're in luck. The F-4E is coming soon with Jester 2.0. Hopefully the A-7E will release before the A-6E. But HB have stated that they have streamlined their production prosses a lot. The thing to remember is the F-14A, A-7E, and A-6E were all ment to work together. The A-7E did the SEAD, and CAS missions, as well as strike missions. It was a lighter and more expendable aircraft compared to the A-6E. The A-7E was used in the SEAD role in the Gulf of Sydria crises, operation Eldorado Cyanion, and Desert Storm. I like to think of it as the Tomcat and the SLUF were there to get the A-6E's to the target. They are going to be a hell a combination of jets. Considering the Modules that have already been announced or teased for these jets to go up against and it became apparent that this is going to be one hell of a module. Let's just hope they get it over the finish line and it dose truly represent this amazing little bird. -

I just really love the Sluff. A Mig-27K would be amazing. Maybe get an 80's Su-25 on there too. Su-17/22 Mig-23MLA Mig-21bis Mi-24P Is already a strong lineup. And they are ether there or in the works. The Mig-27K would be epic. Honestly I'm surprised Heatblur didn't tackle that one. It's right inline with the Viggen in mission and technology. Well the Mig has some king of built in Camara I believe and a laser. I can just imagine coming in low and fast to pop up and get the ARMs off to clear the way for the Su-17s to come in and lay waist to a battlefield. To bring it back to the Sluff having these red jets over the AOR is going to or would make it so much better. IRL the SLUFF never got an A2A kill. But it certainly could make a turn or two before bleeding off its energy. And it would certainly be in the same places that Mig-27s and Su-17s would be operating. I wish Flying Iorn would keep up.a little more in the loop. But when they do a release it's impressive. Let's just hope that the SLUFF is coming along. Because the Cold War is about to go hot in DCS and the virtual Ragan era navy needs its light attack and SEAD bird so it can properly bring freedom to the virtual world. -

Prickly Hedgehog just posted that Heatblur has announced that the Ai Intruder is coming this summer, and that the full fidelity E model is going into development in parallel with the Eurofighter. They said that they did alot of work to streamline their production cycle. That combined with recent advances in Ai's ability to code and it might be sooner then you think. Development time-lines are certainly compressing in the last few years. -
It's already used as air quake, and that is fine. Honestly this thread needs to be closed. It's a game, a vary realistic game, but a game. It's so realistic that it can be used as a simulator, but it's also a game. Enabling a practice mode could actually help people learn to tank in the sim. If it's not for you then so be it. Honestly the physics aren't modeled correctly anyway, and apparently that has been addressed and they are working on it. But even when it's finished there would still be value in a "tanking assist". I say put it on a slider like the takeoff assist. Basically just increase the size of the virtual basket. As players get more confident many, probably most will shink that back down to the most realistic setting anyway. It dosen't affect you even in multi player so who cares. What it would do is make DCS more accessible to beginners. More accessible means more players. More players means more mony for modules, maps, core updates. So why worry about other players skills at doing this kind of flying anyway?

What absolutely blows my mind is that LOMAC did. There were several different voices and one was female. But now it's all the same. Still they are putting in tones of work on the core so hopefully they will fix this.

We rarely agree. But on this we are in full agreement.
