Merry Christmas to our Orthodox members of ED and forum!!!

Wow, good stuff - thank you! It's going to take a LOOOOOOOOONG time to get to those altitudes.

Will do, thanks. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Typically at 95ish% until I'm in the 250ish it's, level off and then climb once airspeed is up again. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

I had 2 120s, 2 9x, 2 GBU 10, 2 fuel tanks. 25k takes a while to get to. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

I just got the Persian Gulf map since it was on sale and I want to create a runway/airfield so I can practice bombing and the like. Where is the Airfield or something similar in the mission editor?
-
Wow, you guys sure aren't shy to use the burner then. I struggle to get to 25k without using it.
-
What altitude and speed do you folks typically use for cruising between steerpoints? I typically use 15,000ft baro at 90% throttle.
-
Then do you think there could be a compromise in there somewhere to give us a C-model AIM-120 with better range? Say... 45nm? Having to wait until the plane is within 10nm for a decent chance at a hit is frankly ridiculous for an aircraft of this vintage.

Yeah, but hopefully they may have purchased enough that there's some surviving stock left that I could purchase. -

Thrustmaster out of microsticks
CybrSlydr replied to CybrSlydr's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I did inquire with him and another person, but neither of them are aware of anyone who has something like that. -
Emailed Thrustmaster support asking about a microstick for the Cougar. Thank you for contacting Thrustmaster Tech support We have checked our stock on the Microswitch you wish to purchase, however, we are completely out of these switches. We do not know if they will restock them. Thank you To ensure the most efficient follow-up of your query, please answer directly to this email (do not open a new ticket). Kind regards, Your Thrustmaster Customer Support Agent, Nancy http://support.thrustmaster.com Looks like we need to start sourcing new parts if Thrustmaster are no longer stocking. My bad - ripple isn't something you can select I guess. Just if you want to fire single or in pairs. Are you wanting to tell it to shoot like... 10 rockets with every push of the weapon release? I don't believe you can do that.

F111-Aardvark ~ Why you LOVE IT & why we need it
CybrSlydr replied to Bartacomus's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Oh yeah, I'd love to see an F-111! -
You change the ripple fire amount on the SMS INV page for the rocket. Hit the A-G master mode button, hit the button on the right MFD that switches between A-G weapons and below it should be a RPL or something like that. That's where you change the ripple settings.

+2 Strange yours don't work.

Don't we already have the -B and -C versions?
-
The F-16s still utilize the AIM-120D - while one of the changes made from the -C to the -D appears to be resolving harmonics issues in the F-22, other changes apparently took place as well. Else the 120D wouldn't have a reported range of nearly 100nm instead of the anemic 30nm of the 120C we have in-game currently. "AIM-120 AMRAAM variants The AMRAAM has a length of 3.6m, diameter of 17.7cm and wingspan of 52.5cm. Four variants of the AMRAAM have been manufactured. The AIM-120A is the first variant, which is no longer in production. The AIM-120B is an improved variant introduced in 1994. The AIM-120C has smaller control surfaces to enable internal carriage on the F/A-22 aircraft and carries an improved warhead. It was further upgraded to create a new variant called AIM-120C-7, which was successfully tested in 2003. The AIM-120D is the newest member in the family of AMRAAM. The variant completed its seventh test flight in May 2009, and integrates advanced hardware and software systems for improved navigation, range and HOBS (High-Angle Off-Boresight) capability." https://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/aim-120-advanced-medium-range-air-to-air-missile-amraam/

You're joking, right? "The LREW also emerges as Chinese and Russian militaries reportedly are pursuing new air intercept missiles with ranges significantly longer than the AIM-120D. The range of the AIM-120D is classified, but is thought to extend to about 100mi (160km)" https://www.flightglobal.com/helicopters/new-long-range-missile-project-emerges-in-us-budget/125963.article "The latest version, AIM-120D, has a range of approximately 100 miles, GPS guidance, improved high-angle boresight capability, and a two-way datalink." https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/news/a28883/new-air-to-air-missile-amraam/ "Range "over 15 km" to "up to 25 km" 20+ miles (17.5+ nautical miles) 40 km = AMRAAM-ER ?? 55–75 km = AIM-120A/B ?? >105 km = AIM-120C-5 ?? >180 km = AIM-120D(C-8)" https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/aim-120-specs.htm "AIM-120D: this variant incorporates still greater range (about 160 km), better guidance, and a higher kill probability. By 2016 the AIM-120D was still not fully operational." http://www.military-today.com/missiles/aim120_amraam.htm That's AIM-54 range for the F/A-18 and F-16. I sure as heck would want it!

Seriously! The reasons for the USAF not utilizing them is freaking absurd. "Seeing as USAF F-16s never fly in combat without multiple external fuel tanks, which greatly hampers the jet’s performance, aren’t CFT’s a no-brainer? It would seem so, but the USAF uses some seemingly backward logic when it comes to not procuring them for their Block 50/52 F-16 fleet, which is the top-of-the-line, youngest F-16 sub-fleet in the USAF’s inventory. From what I have gathered over the years on the topic via talking to pilots directly and seeing mentions of the decision in publications from time to time, the USAF justifies not procuring CFTs because it already has so many tanker aircraft. Additionally, in a major air battle they don’t need the extra weapons stations freed up by the inclusion of CFTs as a great advantage because they can simply assign more F-16s to target set. For longer-range strike missions they can use the F-15E or even a bomber. These justifications, and the fact that although the CFTs don’t inhibit daily line maintenance and inspections when fitted to the aircraft they do take a couple hours to remove for heavy duty servicing and phase inspections, seems to be entire reasoning behind not equipping American late model Vipers with CFTs." https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/why-dont-new-u-s-air-force-f-16s-use-these-futuristic-1712746714

I understand they need more than that - I was hoping someone who might know could provide some info as to how detailed the modeling of the missiles performance is and what they include in it.

This is my main problem with learning other aircraft. Each aircraft has the same thing called something different. So it's almost impossible to get the same mappings to work for separate aircraft.
