False integrity check failures making multiplayer unplayable
71st_AH Rob replied to Ryu8200's topic in Multiplayer
Remove all mods and do a repair. It will ask if you want to remove files, choose yes. Don't reinstall any mods in the main game directory, only in Saved Games Edit: also make sure that you only install skins in saved games and not in bazaar -
There is another one right in the middle of the field someone crashed into on takeoff when I was landing. People were landing and taking off in all directions. Brings back memories of CloD.

Request: German Multirole Combat Aircraft JU88
71st_AH Rob replied to [PTF]Ali's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
This thread is for AI Assets, if you want to get some traction on this I think it should go in DCS World War II » Western Europe 1944-1945 » Wishlist and if you really want to get it moving provide some documentation on the ac you want. -
Since the A6M made it's combat debut more than a year before the Fw-190A, maybe the influence was the other way?

We have a very good idea of the size, Spudnocker measures it around 6:30 in his video at 166.xxxx NM diagonal in both directions. Assuming it is square as he said, it is around 91nm wide and high. Do you feel that the Caucasus map traded detail for size? Curious. I quite like the Bodenplatte map and think that they struck a good compromise between detail size and performance.

you would need to make the map a lot bigger to get a Luftwaffe airfield on it that was around in 1944. Since the earliest the map could be chronologically is Apr '44 how about Schönefeld for the Luftwaffe? We do afterall have two long range escort fighters.
-
It isn't actually further north. As seen in the videos just released, it is just the top right corner of the Normandy Map ~91nm x 91mn. Tiny by WWII standards. I will delete or maybe better correct my previous post based on new information, vs what I understood from previous descriptions of the Map.

Did real F-86F Sabre radar assisted gunsight "calculated" lead?
71st_AH Rob replied to avenger82's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
Of course I know the A4 isn't from WWII. -
It is far too small. According to Spudnockers video it is about a quarter of the size of the current Normandy Map. In fact, it is the top right corner of the Normandy Map, what are they thinking? If the map was a add on to Normandy it would be great because those airfields would make a lot of sense for the Normandy invasion - part of the problem with Normandy is the lack of ramp space. To put the size in perspective, the Caucuses map is nearly 900 nm x 500 nm and the detailed area of Georgia and Russia is ~415 nm x 300 nm about twice the size of the Normandy Map. It makes no sense. Two of the airfields in England, RAF Manston and RAF High Halden are Late war. Manston has a crash runway that was not operational until spring of 1944 I think and RAF High Halden was only active from 13 April 1944 to September 1944. So the earliest setting for the map would be April 1944. RAF Hawkinge was in use throughout the war from 1939 to the end of 1944 and RAF Lympne was in use pretty much from 1939 to November 1944. So with the earliest date April 1944 and the latest Dec 1944 none of the Airfields in France were active in 1944. Merville-Calonne abandoned in 1943 Dunkerque-Mardyck abandoned in May 1941 St-Omer – Longuenesse Looks like it was last used in 1943 and was prepared for destruction in Apr 1944, the runway destroyed and it was abandoned on 4 Jun 1944 Abbeville-Drucat I can't find any reference to a unit stationed there after Aug 43 when II/JG26 left. In general the quality looks far better than the Normandy map, the grass fields in particular but would it have killed them to make a Belfast Truss a Type C and Type T and B1 Hangar model instead of using the more modern hangers? The RAF used these pretty extensively so one model would be used again and again. RAF Hawkinge had 8 Belfast and two Type C if I remember correctly.

That will not cover the same area. Dieppe is not on the current Normandy map, it is just terrain and random trees, like Crimea on the Caucuses map. Having Dieppe on the Channel Map will not make the Normandy Map redundant. The Channel Map will not include the landing beaches and ALGs I understand. What will make the Normandy Map less popular will be the better airfields in the Channel Map if the pictures released so far are a true indication of the map. EDIT: Based on new information from Spudnocker's video of the new Channel Map, it is just the top right corner of the map in higher detail. Spudnocker measured the detailed area diagonally at ~ 166nm which makes it ~91nm x 91nm; the smallest map yet and very tiny for the P-47D which could fly back and forth several times across the map on internal fuel only. So I still don't think it will make the Normandy Map redundant, but I'm not sure what use this new one will be.

Are engine limitations purely temperature based?
71st_AH Rob replied to Waltan's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
You are of course correct. Unfortunately this belief in using the manual setting to fully OPEN comes from the DCS P-51 Manual on page 126 but it does clearly state that it should be in AUTOMATIC for takeoff, it also says that it should be in full OPEN for all operation on the ground. The real manual states that the pilot should OPEN and CLOSE the Coolant and Oil switches manually and listen to determine if the doors are opening during the pre-start procedures. Then set to AUTOMATIC. It never talks about opening them again during normal procedures. The next step is to prime the engine and starting. It doesn't mention anything about opening these for taxing and checking that they are set to AUTOMATIC is the first item on the pre-takeoff checklist. -
Multiplayer Server for Community
71st_AH Rob replied to nosaMtrevoC's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
Once the Dedicated Server is set up the Web GUI can be used to start and change missions remotely. Someone would need to be able to access the server to upload the missions but once there it can be done through the Web GUI. The Dedicated Server version of DCS world can be found here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/ I will send you a PM with some ideas. -
Multiplayer Server for Community
71st_AH Rob replied to nosaMtrevoC's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
I would be interested in testing with you, located in Kingston so on EDT. 1. I think higher count is more beneficial but why not try both? 2. yes 3. 16 should be fine to run a Dedicated Server instance 4. no idea, 30-40 is the most I had at one time. Total number of objects and spawning AI and Clients seems to be one of the big issues, not total number of clients also high ping of clients 5. You will need to install the Open Beta Dedicated Server and then allow people to set it up or set it up for them, install mods and upload missions. Then they should be able to run with the Web GUI to manage it day to day. -
I ask because I have been having a similar issue with the F10 Map view and I believe that it may be using the last - or most restrictive - values from the previously run missions instead of the values saved in the mission editor or the DCS instance that was used to edit the mission last. I have not noticed the Easy Comms issue, but I have never run a mission or made a mission that did not use realistic comms

Are you running a Multiplayer instance from your game or are you running it on the Dedicated Server?

Did real F-86F Sabre radar assisted gunsight "calculated" lead?
71st_AH Rob replied to avenger82's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
The sight does calculate lead. You need to set the manual range to max setting for the sight to calculate the range correctly using the radar range value. There was a small problem with the lead calculation, I believe it is due to bullet drop - the muzzle velocity of the rounds that the sight is calibrated for a higher velocity round, however there a few different variables that could cause the problem. The A-4 is a WWII gyroscopic site that can use the AN/AGP-30 RADAR to supply the range instead of entering it manually. -
Heatblur Development Update - Thunder & Cat

They are the ones that started the deck crew with the Forrestal class announcement. Look back at the initial posts about it. -
On the bright side, you can now use the LSO view on the Tarawa class carrier. If you don't mind hovering in space above the water.
