It appears that your understanding of early IFF and RADAR is basically flawed. IFF is fundamentally tied to RADAR and was developed expressly to operate with it to allow operators to more quickly differentiate friendly contacts from enemy contacts. The modern Transponders that civilian aircraft use today, both Commercial Air and Private, developed from Military IFF to take advantage of the system as both a way for ATC to differentiate contacts and as an aid to navigation. You have confounded Radio navigation with RADAR. RADAR is "RAdio Detection And Ranging." Both are based on transmissions in the Radio band of the electromagnetic spectrum. The first operational Allied IFF utilized the RADAR signal, amplified and returned it using a transceiver to differentiate Allied a/c from En on the RADAR Operators CRT. The Soviet Union used this system up until it fell. The Western Allies went to a standard frequency for IFF since different RADAR types worked on different frequencies. You could have a situation where Chain Home identified a contact as friendly because it received the correct signal back and a Type 14 RADAR would not and therefore identify the contact as hostile. Modern military IFF is essentially the same today but can give more information if the correct modes are activated, tail number, a/c type etc. More complex information is transmitted digitally by EPLRS/Link-16/etc and is not part of IFF. DCS takes an Arcade approach to IFF, inherited from FC3, basically if your tracking RADAR locks on an En a/c it will display a different symbol on the HUD than if it is a Fr a/c. Some of the newer a/c have some rudimentary IFF systems and a more realistic representation of IFF can be simulated outside of DCS using Simple Radio Standalone (SRS) and Lock-On tiny ATC (LotAtc). SRS will, if the DCS module simulates it, transmit the IFF information from the DCS export function to LotAtc using range and line of site to display on the so the controller can see the information that would be transmitted. LotAtc with SRS allows a basic simulation of Ground Controlled Intercept (GCI), which is what IFF was used from in WWII, as well as ATC and Precision Approach RADAR (PAR). So for Korean War Era and earlier, we can simulate IFF if the module has it modeled and SRS can detect the information to pass to LotAtc. For Air to Air IFF, we need to rely on the Mk I Eyeball or ask the GCI for confirmation that the contact we are tracking is enemy just like they did in real life.

Actually, the G-6 should be able to dive away, but it should not be able to climb, turn or fly as fast as the K-4 is without MW50 -
JSGME will not do what you are asking. It is good for mods that need to be installed and removed. Skins do not need to be removed from the Saved Games folder. As long as you don't change the name of the skin it will overwrite and be updated. Google might be your best option. I have been using a zip file on Dropbox and since the skins don't really changenmuchnit works fine.

Update 2.5.6 for Supercarrier requirement

If it is not too much of an imposition could you do it with Performance Monitor on as well? Prior to 2.5 I did this and increased my Ram for 16 to 24 and increased the Preload radius to get rid of stutters. It would be interesting to see if you are have the same bottlenecks as we do and if you don't we can look at why. -
No, they originally said that the new free map would be suitable for both WWII and contemporary aircraft. That map turned out to be the Marianna's map. After the initial screenshots were released there was a bit of a hue and cry about how would it be suitable for WWII and before the torches could be lit and pitchforks sharpened Nick Grey announced that a separate WWII version would be released. Not sure if this is the second free map you are referring to, I can't remember where I saw any mention of another free map I do remember that there was talk of a new free map (The Marianas), and two WWII maps, presumably the Channel Map and another one. Both will be paid for I am sure. The real mystery is why did they add the Ferdinand (Elephant) to the WWII Assets pack?

The only reason the K-4 and D-9 are allowed on SoW is because there is no G-6. If there was there would be no K-4. I also think that there is a bit of worry that people who have the K-4 don't have the A-8 and this may be true but it also might be because they have no reason to fly it when The K-4 is available. Burning Skies is a totally different case, people will fly the best available aircraft to prove how superior they are to the opposition, so you are correct, they will choose the K-4 most of the time if they own it. Edit: we would have more historical mission based servers if we had a plane set that wasn't anachronistic and a meeting complete assets pack. -

Typhoon Ib makes the most sense. There were only three Tempest V squadrons with ADGB around the timeframe of our map and 25-28 Typhoon Ib squadrons in England around D-Day. The allied pilots are complaining about lack of 150 octane fuel because we have been flying a 1943 vintage Spitfire against 1945 vintage Luftwaffe fighters for some time. Recently we have got a more reasonable opponent in the Fw-190A-8, however, it is a year newer than the Spitfire. A Spitfire like ours built in March of 1943, would have been upgraded with a minimum of a Gyro Mk II gunsight and a Frank Mk II anti-G flying suit. By early 1945, the same timeframe as the Fw-190D-9 receiving the Gyro gunsight, the majority of P-51D-25 would be using 150 octane fuel. -
That is how the tanks work. Select outboard tanks first, when they go dry the indicator light lights up and you switch to inboard tanks. When the fuel gauge begins to move you know the inboard tanks are empty.

I believe that the Mk V were almost all retro fitted with the slatted wing as well. The earliest Mk V left the factory with the 6-3 slatted wing before production changed back the the fenced hard wing. As for engines, the Oranda 14 produced around 7,500 lbs of thrust, dry. The Oranda 17 was essentially the same with an afterburner that produced 8,490 lbs wet and was intended for the Sabre Mk VII of which only one prototype was produced. I would love a Sabre Mk VI, with ~50% more thrust than the F-30 it would be more competitive against the MiG-19 and completely outclass the MiG-15bis, including a higher service ceiling.

I have no problems using the K-14, I had adjusted my aim with the Spitfire (which should have a Gyro Mk II sight) and had to readjust after the improvement to dispersion which No.119_Bruv (VK-B) indicated had also been improved. I noticed no difference with the Mustang.

^This has been the perennial problem with this bug, and may be a clue to where the solution lies. Facts: No Crash log is generated by the event; Casual perusal of the DCS Log shows no obvious reason for sound to stop; and Tracks play back normally and do not demonstrate the event. Hypothosis: A comparison of the DCS Logs after the bug occurs and the DCS Log after playing back the track may provide some clues. Recommended COA Record Sabre flights with a program such as Shadow Play to show when the problem occurred. Save tracks when the problem occurs and quit DCS, save the DCS log. Restart DCS and play back the track, shut down DCS and save the log. Submit the DCS log (original) and DCS Log (track playback) along with the recording and track file for ED to analyze.

How'd you know I'd read this? Stop by the squadron TS for a chat sometime! 1. Hanging out on Storm of War DCS server, yes, the same team as CloD, it is on the Open Beta stream because the DServer application only works in Open Beta. Someday it will go back to stable. 2. The Charnwood Campaign from the ED store is not compatible with the Steam installation of DCS World. For the Steam compatible campaign you need to purchase it through Steam. The store site has a warning that it is not steam compatible. 3. I recommend that you go to the standalone version, much easier to keep up to date and importantly Steam does not get a 1/3 cut of the proceeds of each sale meaning more money for ED and 3rd Parties to invest in development. For a Campaign that means Steam collects about $3.33 for each sale, ED collects about the same and the author presumably around the same, if it is through the ED store I would assume the author receives about twice as much as they would through Steam. Hope you get it resolved and see you in the skies again soon!

You can switch the cross back to normal with the middle mouse button if I remember. This might also be part of your problem with the kneeboard

Except that Nicholas Dackard was the map team and when Leatherneck split he kept the map. I am on my phone and can't search the forums for the post but it should be in the Heatblur area.

Personally, I'm very pleased with the direction ED is going with the new free map. I love the look in the screen shots we have seen so far, it is a much-needed theatre for Naval aviation and I love the fact that we are going to have a WWII specific and modern version. I love the Caucuses but it will look a bit shabby by comparison, particularly the buildings and the odd ground textures in built up areas that show 2D building outlines. I would like to see the buildings updated and those textures. A WWII version would also be a great addition while they are at it. I would also like to see ED rethink their map design philosophy. Currently most of the playable area of the map is looking good from the ground, I would love to see future maps have a high detail main combat area that works for combined arms, medium detail areas surrounding outlying airfields and low detail areas in between. As an example, on the current Caucuses map, new airbase in Turkey would greatly add to the possible gameplay. The Airbase would be highly detailed, the area around it medium detail and the rest of Turkey only needs to be as it is now. We need the elevation mesh but only basic textures. This would effectively push the limits of the map size, making for many more years of new mission making.
