Well they say it will be suitable for 1939 -1945, definitely not modern, and I realistically expect that it will really be 5June 1944. Ideally, it would be 1 September 1939 and would have a bunch of placeable objects and textures that would be added in templates to update the map for different years.
-
I would not bother to buy it if they put a modern airport on it. The WWII players are usually interested in historic accuracy and immersion where many modern players would be fine with fictional maps since the air battles they are fighting have not happened anyway. For example, when flying the Hornet or F-16 on the Nevada, Gulf or Georgia map I don't care about the accuracy of the map but I dislike the Normandy map for the Spitfire and Mustang because it is not a good representation of the area in 1944.

Then that would be the bug, starter not being repaired when you request repair. Question is, how does it get broken? Last night I landed a damaged Spitfire and repaired it and took off again with no problems. The only damage it had was the rudder was shot off by flack during a ground attack and the pilot required a change of pants. (New FLAK sounds are loud) So there was little chance that the starter had been hit. Maybe we can set up an experiment shooting a Spitfire in different places and running a repair to see if it works, maybe the stater is the Spitfires prop governor.

I wish they'd just disable that so people would worry about weather they accomplish the mission and survival instead.

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
71st_AH Rob replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
B-24 is on the original list, just not on the almost done list. The B-25, B-26 and A-20 were also on the list. The original list at release on 8 March 2017 of additional assets that were to be added in the future was: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10158413498320341&id=441639040340 I think that if all of these had been added over the last three years, we would have a thriving WWII community in DCS now. -
A logical and fair argument. The WW II Asset Pack has divided my squadron so we don't play DCS now for WWII and have moved to the competition and we only fly DCS for modern a/c. Let's hope the SC doesn't drive the rest back to a simulation released two decades ago because I really love the potential of DCS. The whole point of online play in a squadron is the comradery and sense of community engendered only by playing together. It is more satisfying to play a $25 sim made 10 or 20 years ago as a team than an $80 bleeding edge Sim alone.

No unfortunately. A major breakdown in logic. I also had to purchase a second copy for my server to be able to edit missions without major file transfers and it was required, along with the map, to run missions on a server initially. I hate the way that it is dividing my squadrons online play never mind the community and I think it was a short term financial decision that cost ED long term profit and it looks like the SC may be the same. I want ED to be profitable long term so we keep getting more content,

It would be a fantastic feature, along with the grass strip airfields that were supposed to be added by the mission designer in the ME.

The free map is the Marianas map.

So like I say, make it an option, that way we have an aircraft that is good for early 1943 to early 1944 and from there to the end of the war. They just need to adjust manifold pressure for the later part. Trials with the Mk I Gyro indicated a 50% improvement in gunnery
-
One item I consider outstanding is the option to install the Gyro Mk.II gunsight. By March 1944 all Spitfire Mk.IX in squadron service had been fitted with one. Old hacks like ours, built in early '43, would have been removed from frontline squadrons and relegated to OCUs, maintenance training or long term storage.

No, that's why I thought it was random failures or operator error but then it happened twice before getting into combat. This appears to be the same bug that was finally fixed in September after a year or so of trying to reproduce. The problem is that it is random.

Wags has said that the new free map will be suitable for Modern and WWII.
-
Phil, we noticed around Caen on the next map that the FLAK was firing.
-
It's back. Flew on a few servers over the last few days and first time I thought it must be random failure forced on on that server. Then flew with a buddy on a second server and he had his fail just after takeoff, I figured he was not as familiar with the DCS Mk IX then 20 min later mine failed. Confirmed afterwards that neither server had random failure on.

Fortunately,we are getting one. Hopefully, it can be used in conjunction with the Normandy map.

[REPORTED] Weird water near the castle
71st_AH Rob replied to ultrablue2258's topic in Bugs and Problems
I think that is a grid line the water is flowing over. You should see it around RAF Chailey -
Got me. Must be a bad translation? Guess we will see when we open the map.

You need to ask the maker of the mod in the mod forums, they don't provide support for mods here.

All Mk IX's still in squadron service with 2 TAF definitely had the Mk II Gyro Gunsight fitted by May 44. In all probability ALL Mk IX's still in Squadron service had them prior to D-Day.
