  1. Or perhaps, they will completely overlap in space but not in time. ED has indicated a desire to see the Battle of Britain in the future. Maybe the Channel Map will evolve to cover the time period of 1940 - 1942 and Normandy will handle 1943-1944, there were many major changes to existing and a significant increase in the number of new airfields in 1943 with the arrival of the 8th and 9th Air forces and the growth of the RAF, both existing squadrons and the influx of Article XV squadrons.
  2. As a mod i can see that working but ED would never make it a single player a/c. In fact I am surprised that no mod group has taken on the project of making a flyable mod for the B-17 included in the assets pack.
  3. Exactly, this is why the T-34 should not be added to the current WWII assets pack but should be part of the base game. It really has no place in the current WWII environment and does belong in all sorts of scenarios post WWII. From Korea right up to Operation Allied Force.
  4. Through the re-arming screen would be the best place I think. Of course as a mission designer, I want to have the option to lock the frequencies like skins and tail-number since it may be important to the mission to be on a particular frequency.
  5. This is very true, but maybe they would have the capacity to build AI aircraft for the simulator?
  6. I think you have that backwards, the Tiger was developed as a response to the shock of encountering the T-34 during Barbarossa. It would be an excellent addition but I don't think it should be added to the WWII assets pack. It is still in service in a few countries and saw extensive use by third world armies during the Cold War. It should be added to the base game. It would not be much use to us in the current WWII environment, although we have an I-16 and a Ju-88A-4 and if you squint enough, or fly in VR, you can use the Caucasus map for a theatre but the Persian Gulf or Syria would be great.
  7. As much as I look forward to flying the Mosquito on SoW, the server is not ready for it and frankly without delayed fuses, with the white smoke trail from the port engine giving away your position and other way issues I think it would be a frustrating experience.
  8. what are your Visibility Range, Forest Visibility and Pre-load radius set to? set them to max and see if it changes the issue.
  9. Sadly as per the newsletter today: "In the Latest Open Beta 2.7.9 Release, we added C-47 to the DCS: WWII Assets Pack. You may also notice the new RP-3 rockets on the Mosquito. A number of long awaited graphical issues are also resolved, especially for the FW 190 Dora and Anton. We look forward to your comments. " It appears that none of the longstanding actual issues have been addressed in this patch, that does not mean that work is not ongoing but not ready for this patch. More careful consideration of the wording prior to releasing the patch may have prevented disappointment. Seriously? The bugs are legion and some are particularly irritating since they are literally a couple of minutes worth of lua editing to fix. If you don't know what they are you clearly have not been paying attention or there is no proper bug tracker. Proper software development companies, AAA game producers included, have a bug tracker that beta testers can report bugs through and track the status.
  10. This is what they have been marketing as 'wing flex' since one of the early updates a few years ago.
  11. Except, paratroopers not being ready yet was the reason we were given for the four year delay a few months ago.
  12. Thatès a new one! Post in Reflectedès forum for the campaign maybeé
  13. Its not a competitive edge that everyone is seeking but a historical match-up. . For the maps we have, 150 oct would be appropriate for 8th AF fighters based in England and RAF Squadrons in England that are assigned to Air Defence of Great Britain. So the 1943 Spitfire we have (not that it is likely that an early 1943 Spitfire would still be in front line service by then) could have had +25 lbs Boost in our maps in the summer of 1944 but they would be facing Fw-190A-8 and Bf-109G-6, not the Bf-109K-4. By the time the Spitfire Mk IXc was facing the Bf-109K-4, it would be based in Holland or Belgium and it would definitely not be an early 1943 configuration, it would be a IXe with .50 and 20mm in each wing, not .303, it would have a Gyro Mk II gun-sight and the pilot would have a G-Suit as well as +25lbs boost or a Mk XIVe or Tempest V. So, asking for 150 oct fuel is not really over the top but I would rather they built a Bf-109G-6 instead.
  14. Assuming that we are excluding night fighter operations for practical reasons, I think you can reduce that list even further by striking out the 110. Even on the Eastern front in the ground attack role it was withdrawn by 1943 as being inadequate and it was relegated to the Defense of the Reich role where after abysmal performance it was withdrawn from daylight defense of Berlin in April 1944, coincidentally shortly after the P-51 began to escort bomber formations all the way to target and back. The 110 was then only operational as a night fighter. If we had a BoB planeset and map it would be vital, bit has no place with the current DCS WWII environment. Similarly the Ju-52 was largely relegated to administrative flights in non combat areas by 1943. The Do-217 did have two squadrons in Normandy but losses were astronomical and impact negligible so I don't think it would be as high a priority as making a flyable version of the AI Ju-88 we have now.
  15. Except, they take much longer than that. They first showed us a finished model of the AI C-47 four years ago and we still don't have one in game.
  16. Similarly, the 110 was withdrawn from service as a day fighter during the BoB for the same reasons. The 110 was active as a night fighter over our current WWII maps and in 1943 it was reoriented to a bomber interceptor to counter daylight raids by B-17 and B-24, however they were not on our maps but further east closer to the targets in Germany. The main purpose of the 110 in 43 and 44 seems to have been to soak up as many rounds as possible from the P-47s to allow the 109s the best chance if getting to the bombers.
  17. They removed the list from the shop page but is is around here somewhere in this forum posted by Nineline and then updated. Most of the missing assets are AI aircraft, the C-47, Lancaster, B-24, B-25, B-26, Bf-109G-6, Typhoon 1b, etc. To be fair they have also added additional assets that were desperately needed and not part of the original list such as the QF 3.7 AA gun.
  18. I will try to confirm your results when I get home. This is interesting, I wonder if it is accurate in the 1940's
  19. What year have you set in the editor? Variation does change each year.
  20. Because they won't. There is no argument or logic that will convince them to purchase an assets pack, which in turn prevents them from purchasing modules and maps. Certainly I feel that the cost of the WWII Assets Pack, about half an hour of mission building time based on what my employer pays me to do the same, is not a lot when compared to the hours I spend each week mission building but its a matter of principle for some.
  21. I use the Normandy map 95% of my flying. I try to use the Channel Map but there just is not a lot you can do with it. Of course in Single Player there has been a bit of a shift of focus to the newest map but there is still not much you can do with the Channel map or with DCS WWII in single player at all. There is no need to restrict yourself to the Channel map for the P-47 or the Mosquito, in fact the Mosquito is better suited to the Normandy map, the Channel map is just too small to make long flights on. Single player content is very sparse in DCS WWII and I get most of my flying in MP on Storm of War. It is of course not much fun with a poor connection but I find I get my moneys worth of entertainment from it. For single player with lots of repeatability there is Dynamic Combat Engine by MBot, it has been modified and missions like https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3311299/ provide a great environment. The main thread for it can be found here: The only other alternative is to roll up your sleeves and dive into the editor or go online which are both options you find impractical as you have explained. I hope you find a way to get more enjoyment out of the modules you have already purchased while we wait for ED to build a comprehensive environment with enough AI assets that we are not forced to pit 1943 era RAF aircraft against the rare 1945 Luftwaffe birds.
