  1. Second historical matchup. The P-51D-25/-30 and the Fw-190D-9 with the AI B-17G as a bonus are a historical matchup. We don't have a completely appropriate map for them anymore since the Normandy map got smaller a while ago.
  2. There is never anything in the logs and since it can't be reliably recreated, the only thing they have to go on was a coincidental recording and I think Nine Line ended up experiencing it as well.
  3. It would be great particularly if we get a late war northern Europe map for WWII next. For what we have now though I would love to see a Typhoon Ib
  4. Good to hear that this is going to be updated for certain now. Looking forward to the update.
  5. Never the less, if you use the new trim rudder one notch, it will take 30 "notches" to fully deflect the rudder and the trim wheel in the cockpit will not move.
  6. Take a look over your shoulder.. the rudder will be fully deflected in 30 "taps"
  7. The problem is not that it takes long, it is 30 notches either way, the problem now is that the knob in the cockpit no longer works. Yes it takes a long time to turn it but look at the rudder, it does not move at all when you turn the knob. 30 notches with the button gives you significantly more deflection than I remember with it before.
  8. I would assume that they have made great improvements based on lessons learned and it will incorporate all of the improvements ED has made to the engine. It is a fantastic theater with great potential and I would really love to fly on this map. Unfortunately it is the proven track record of no customer support that will keep me from purchasing the map until they make some attempt to prove that they will be responsive. The map may be the best one available but what happens as ED introduce technological improvements? Will UGRA update the map to incorporate those improvements? Their track record so far and their silence on the official forums says no and ED has repeatedly stated that it is not their responsibility and it is up to the third party to make updates to their product. I live in dread of finding out that when ED introduce Vulkan that the Normandy map will be broken and will not be fixed.
  9. hmm, the T-6 as multi crew would make a great first module from A2A...
  10. ^Agreed. There are only a couple of mods I use that need to be in the program directory and they are server side only and a bit of a risk. I put all other mods in my "Saved Games\DCS" (or DCS Open Beta as required). You can use JSGME if you want, not required unless you have a mod pack for a server that you want to unload but you would only do that if it caused a conflict with another mod pack maybe. If a mod causes an integrity check issue from this location it probably should be removed and an updated version found to replace it or modify it so it does not cause problems. I had problems with the Mustang sinking through the ramp on Burning Skies last night, it was only on that server and I assume it was a netcode issue, no problems on other servers or in single player, were you in SP or MP?
  11. No, the Elefant was only deployed to Northern Italy and the Ost Front. That leaves the Western Front and North Africa, Sicily and southern Italy, the Middle East as well as the entire fight against the Japanese Empire as possible locations.
  12. The D-9 and K-4 both entered production in August 1944. The K-4 delivery began in mid October and most sources agree that the D-9 deliveries began at the end of September or beginning of October so it was two weeks older. Either way, neither aircraft saw action over our Normandy map. The Fw-190A-8 entered production in February 1944 and deliveries began in spring with most sources in agreement that units in France were converting from the Bf-109G or from earlier Fw-190A variants by D-Day. At some point in production, C3 injection was introduced, I can not find a definitive answer. I should mention that most early sources state that the A-8 entered production with a MW50 tank and system installed, however more recent investigation presented on these forums elsewhere seems compelling about the C3 injection vs MW50.
  13. Yes, he said it would be good for current WWII and carrier operations but not appropriate for the Elefant. So it would appear that the free map will not be the ones you mentioned and it will be some time before we have a map that it served on.
  14.  so what you're saying is that they put high priority on an asset that we are not getting an appropriate map for in lieu of assets that were in the original list that we paid for and could use now? We could of course use the Caucasus map but further North would be more appropriate. The reality is that we don't logically need the Elefant until we have a T-34 or an Italian map. So back to the speculation, does the Elefant then fit into one of the other two planned WWII maps we are going to get presumably in the next few years?
  15. +1
  16. And exceedingly rare. 91 produced, 41 lost at Kursk. Of the remaining 50, two were turned into recovery vehs and all the remaining ones that were operational went to sPzJgrAbt 653 which sent one company to Italy and the remainder to the eastern front. As far as I know, none served in Normandy. Perhaps this is a hint about the upcoming WWII map.
  17. That's hilarious! :megalol: The A-8 was put into production to counter the improvement to the Spitfire Mk IX and the one we have is an early 1943 not the early 1944 version...
  18. I too won't be buying it after my experience with the Normandy map. Not because I am worried about the performance or quality at release or that it's another desert, I think that next to the Balkans, it is one of the most desirable and interesting theatres, but because I am uncomfortable with the ongoing support after release. When I bought the Normandy map, I thought I was buying an ED product. There was no indication in the web store description or early access literature that indicated that it was a third party product, that was revised later. In fact it was not until the Caucasus got Speedtrees that we learned the name of the third party. At that time, posts on the forum from ED representatives seemed to indicate that Ugra media had discharged their contractual obligations and had moved on to another project. The indication was that they might come back to Normandy to fix bugs when Syria was released. The discussion about implementation of Speedtrees and now the VR improvements along with the complete silence of the developer would lead a reasonable person to believe that future updates as new technology is rolled out in the core DCS engine is unlikely from the developer and not forthcoming from ED as they do not see it as their responsibility. This gives me pause. Of course, since the VEAO Affair, perhaps contractual obligations have evolved to cover support and maybe profit sharing has changed etc. But the necessarily opaque nature of these business arrangements do nothing to aliviate the buyers concerns. We do not need to know the nitty gritty details of the contract, but a statement of intent from the developer and a declaration by ED of what a customer can expect in terms of support and who will provide it concerning third parties would go a long way to rebuild trust. Caveat emptor
  19. Yes, the problem seems to be the launchers, not the GAR-8 itself. TO-1F-86-F has the coefficient of drag for all the weapons and the launch rails and if I remember the GAR-8 and launch rails was less than the bomb. Take two Sabres one with bombs and one with GAR-8 and see which will go faster...
  20. Maybe that will be the announcement trailer for the new free map...
  21. Not sure how that relates to prop and throttle interconnection in the MkIX Spitfire?
  22. Just wondering, after the P-38, what American alternatives are you thinking of?
  23. Tempest V would be fantastic, particularly as it is a contemporary of the 109K-4, however only what five squadrons saw service in Northern Europe with 2 TAF in 1945. Three of those squadrons were on anti-diver duty with ADGB in the vacinity and time frame of our current WWII map. I would rate their significance to our current WWII environment below the P-38 and ahead of the Me-262. Of the fighter and fighter bomber aircraft that have not been announced to date no would rate the Typhoon Ib as most significant for allied a/c. The Tempest V would make more sense if we get a Northern Europe map but the P-38 would also be more important.
  24. Not working for me either, and most of the time I can't get the correct mission to load anyway.
