Nice! Thanks for sharing. I'm so curious about the flight model (FM). Telling by the videos so far, all the guys getting a chance to fly the DCS Hornet at E3 seem to only know to go fast and low... why not go slow and high AOA, that's the Hornet's natural habitat! :D
-
Fantastic achievement of the whole team. Followed the event on facebook. Great to see this beauty flying again and oh that sound!

Yes, a KC-10 or KC-135 would be fun! And having a "pilotable" refueller position would be amazing.

Military and Aviation News Thread (NO DISCUSSION)

I really like the new atmospheric scattering/light effects. Really! However, in the screenshot below, it looks like the mountains in the distance on the right hand side are lit up by a sun to the viewers right, coming from a 4 o'clock position, while the sun is on the 11 o'clock location as the shadow of the housing in the foreground indicates. Hmm... hopefully something that willl be corrected in the future. Great update anyways.

Man, the distance haze looks really nice, I so much hope they introduced parts of Eric Bruneton's superior atmospheric rendering code (Proland / SpaceEngine) into their rendering engine! That would be the coolest feat of all times!

Hello all, reading Wags' comment today in the update section I thought it may be the time to mention that the atmospheric rendering currently in DCS should be improved. IMHO, most of the time the visual appearance of the atmospheric scattering and the lighting do not look very convincing. A few years ago I discovered the amazing results of Eric Bruneton's work regarding atmospheric rendering in realtime simulations. The results can be viewed on their website http://proland.inrialpes.fr/index.html From its documentation: The good thing is, Eric Bruneton has made most of the code publicly available (minus some additional effects like light shafts from terrain or earth shadow). So far, Vladimir Romanyuk, the creator of SpaceEngine has used this code with spectacular results, also Google Earth makes use of it since a few months! As far as I can tell, the atmospheric rendering code of proland/Eric Bruneton is the best out there currently existing, it blows FSX and similar sims in that department out of the water. So I am very much hoping, that Wags' comment is pointed to a new atmospheric rendering too. Perhaps they could license Bruneton's code for the beloved DCS and turn it into to most immersing flightsim ever produced, unless of course, the devs of ED have created something equally stunning or even better... Thanks for looking! Happy flying!

Also, it seems with the engines turned off/shutdown, the first stage fan blades are not visible. It still looks like a flat circular plane with blurred shades (like from the phase when engines are running). Either this is intentional to cut down the polycount or... wouldn't mind if the model would be improved in that area.

Hello everone, I am looking for repaints/skins for the F-15C and A-10 for the European based aircraft like Spangdahlem, Bentwaters, Woodbridge, Bitburg and Soesterberg. Has anyone put efforts into creating repaints for these to be used in FC3? Preferrably through a website / online source that doesn't require registering... Many thanks to any pointers! :pilotfly:

Received ED's email as well. Purchased FC3. Payment shows to be completed, both on my bank account and Paypal account. Probably totally wrong, but maybe there's a "political" thing going on with PayPal... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PayPal Scroll down to the section "Critisism". :noexpression:

Maybe you've seen the video from Seven-G, with that excellent wingflex effects and fantastic flightmodel? http://youtu.be/xywrekEIJIg?t=2m15s ...can't wait for its release :D For ED's C-Hornet neither...
-
Hmm... despite doing the suggestion above, removing both files, I still get the error message. Oh, well, so no tank hunting this weekend with the newly purchased A-10C module... :noexpression: Any ideas very welcome! EDIT: This here solved the issue: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1574853&postcount=32

I post rarely here on ED's forums, but hey, what a great decision. The DCS F-15E model is absolutely outstanding, it is the best model I've seen so far. That plus your (Razbam's) gorgeous cockpit is a dream come true. Have to get it from day one after release despite the fact that I love the F/A-18 Hornet! :)

...that was easy... F/A-18A/C Hornet ..all the way!

New Virtual Red Arrows Bae Hawk T1 model coming soon!
RhineHornet replied to RED9R1pper's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Nice Hawk. You should however take a closer look at the forward fuselage. The sides of the canopy on your model seem to be angled inwards, right from the bottom sill, it starts to curvature at a much higher point though, th e lower sides are vertical! Take a look at these images to see what I'm talking about: http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/British-Aerospace-Hawk/1244174/L/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/British-Aerospace-Hawk/0982081/L/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Hawker-Siddeley-Hawk/0927541/L/ -
Except for the unrealistic loadout, I think that F-15 model isn't crap at all. It looks pretty nice to me. What exactly is wrong with the model? Liked the low level scenes with the camera close to the jet! Didn't like the music though. Maybe you try to improve the sync of the musical events to what is seen in the vid the next time. Just my 2 cents. Cheers!

Nice! You forgot to mention one "mod" though - Orbiter! :D

I have to agree with Force_feedback here. Although I've never flown the accel pack F/A-18 in FSX, the screenies alone show plenty of errors and FF's comments on the flight model underline this impression, so this is no option for me. No doubt, the VC is absolutely beautiful modelled (developed by FSDreamteam/Cloud9 folks), however, the exterior model (done by CaptainSim) has several (shape) errors (bummer!), and the worst thing is the slat, flap and rudder deflection angles are way off. I mean, the folks of ED have done such a perfect job on the F/A-18 exterior model and the control surfaces deflections are very accurate to the real thing, and yet it is only an AI plane! To me, this tells me a lot about the dedication of the fine ED folks! The LO/FC Hornet model is still the best I have seen to date in any flight simulation. I too am dreaming of a flyable legacy Hornet for DCS one day... :joystick:

HOW TO BUY WITHOUT PROTX (from Poland)
RhineHornet replied to Boberro's topic in Payment and Activation
Quick question, is this option still valid? Thanks. -
Well, this "Tiger Meet" paint scheme has never been applied to a dual-seat CF-18, it was painted to airframe 188720. As this number indicates, it belongs to a single seater. (Duals have 1889xx) Oh my, CaptainSim... I still have to see other developers besides the folks from ED who do their homework seriously!
-
Oh, I see. So SSM2007 will simulate orbital precession and solar pressure too? That'll be great.

If you wish to ride aboard the Shuttle into orbit and learn a lot about orbital mechanics for free, visit: http://www.orbitersim.com and download the Add-on "Shuttle Fleet V. 4.0.0" from orbithangar.com It's all FREE! Have fun! I enjoy Orbiter now for more than 5 years.

Thanks PigPen for checking. No, the flap deflections are the same for the A/B and C/D models of the Hornet. So I understand the flap deflection is incorrectly modelled on the FSX Hornet. :( Look at the following photo to see a real Hornet with LAND (or FULL) flaps deployed: - C model: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1301630/L/ - A model: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1298536/L/ http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1298670/L/ Take-Off (or HALF) flap position: - C model (same as on A and B models): http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1295317/L/
