Can confirm this. This odd behavior is still there. In MP I just had a horrible sortie with ghost contacts appearing and TWS constantly losing lock even as the target was flying straight towards and above me without any maneuvering. Can't provide the track though, it is way too large. But there is something wrong. Heatblur needs to take a closer look at this.
-
Thx Naquaii, this sounds great. I am totally on board with even more realistic behavior as long as Jester AI can handle these complex situations, too. For guys like me flying mostly with Jester in PvP this would be crucial.
-
Yeah, we definitely need that. As many of us currently use the rather crude workaround stated above I really hope LN considers adding that function to Jester's wheel commands.

DEKA did indeed provide a fix with the last OB update. It made the radar useable again but radar mechanics are still not "perfect" at the moment and that is why they chose to label this whole topic as WIP. DEKA told the community that they are still working on the proper integration of the notch filter, for example. They are definitely on the right track. And from what I personally saw on some servers in the last few days the elevation issue is not fully fixed, either. For example, the cursor elevation might show rather interesting (negative) values after unlocking a target or a target moving away from you is nearly impossible to lock in MED PRF. I also found that targets very close to you with a rather large altitude differential are nearly impossible to lock or even be detected although being still in the gimbal limits of the radar and elevation settings correct. So, there are definitely still some issues to address. I understand we will see further improvements with the next OB update that might eliminate most of the inconsistencies we are still seeing. Remember, this is a very complex topic and these things take their time. I am confident, though, DEKA will fix these issues in the next few updates. Fingers crossed...:P

I think he is referring to DEKA's internal tester team to give him a thumbs up. But if DEKA is need of more testers I would also happily offer my assitance.
-
Thx! Good to know it is being looked at. Meanwhile, using good old Kentucky windage will do...:)
-
Yeah, definitely good stuff. Maybe DEKA felt that adding some soothing tracks for guys trying out their first AAR was actually a good idea...:megalol: Seriously guys, great work as always. Keep it up.

Actually, I experienced a similar situation on the same server last weekend. The server itself seemed wierd, though. Tons of rubberbanding and crazy stuff happening. But there is definitely something wrong with those ACM modes. There was an F-15 right on my nose about a mile out flying completely straight and level. I could not lock him with any of the ACM modes. I was infuriated. Got him with the gun cross in the end because he was a flying zombie, though.:D Anyway, the radar system clearly should have been able to lock this guy up as I spent nearly 20 secs on this guy's tail. Would be nice if DEKA could clarify and take a look...

FYI: Recently DEKA's radar programmer was able to continue his work on the radar bugs and I believe someone from DEKA group (uboats?) stated last week that the radar was more or less fixed internally and that it was under testing. And it is a good thing that DEKA does actually test these changes instead of rolling them out in a hurried patch. And that is also why the recent changes did not make it into the last patch. I am sure we can safely assume to see the radar issues getting fixed next patch, though. And on top of that DEKA even stated they will be implementing new and more refined features for the KLJ-7 concerning notching and target lost behavior. Good stuff if you ask me...:music_whistling:

Thank you for getting that straight, foxwxl! It was really painful seeing this GR video on YT with nothing but bs in it (sorry GRs). With a little more research it surely would have been possible for some of these gentlemen to enlighten themselves about the principles of modern radar technology and the above mentioned radars and their implementation in DCS. Still scratching my head by the way why so many people seem to think that you guys at DEKA must be in error all the time considering the development state of some of the ED modules (...do I really need to mention things like the steering dot and DLZ calculation?:D).
-
Good news, indeed! And glad to hear your programmer is ok. Looking forward to this radar thing getting fixed as it can get pretty annoying sometimes. I hope it is not too hard to locate and fix. Keep it up, guys!

Glad to hear that we do not have to wait much longer for a patch. Great work, guys. This is very much needed.:thumbup::thumbup:

Just tested the settings mentioned above online on the TTI server and I can confirm that it works extremely well, too. Again, this is just about game performance as many other things are severely bugged so do not take this as a praise for 2.5.6 in general.
-
Just did what Gripes323 suggested in his post because I simply could not believe this would work because I had abysmal performance with my old settings in 2.5.6 and going to the highest settings is a little strange in that case. Anyway, I deleted fxo and metashaders2 related to my previous settings and next time I started DCS I set all sliders to the right except for Gamma and chimney smoke as they are set to my personal preference. Then I set AntiIso to 16x and disabled MSAA & SSAA. Visibility is set to extreme and all other texture settings are high while cockpit MFD resolution is set at 512. My resolution is 1920x1080 and my PC is in the medium performance range. Well, the result was that this gave me a huge performance boost, indeed. DCS runs absolutely smooth in singleplayer mode and looks awesome. No stutters at all. I will test multiplayer mode this afternoon and see what I get there...
-
Yeah, maybe. I do not use Steam and that might be it. I am not familiar with Steam so I can't help you. Anyway, I hope you get it fixed... Oh, and I want to mention that IFF also seems to work as intended. I read that some users had problems online but I did not run into any problems with that system so far.
-
Interesting, indeed! I flew a quick mission on Growling Sidewinders's server tonight and can clearly confirm that RWR HSD, HUD and audio is working. I had indications for being tracked, missile launch and missile warning. DL also seems to work as intended. I connected to the local E-3A without problems and got full DL info on HSD. No problems on my end so far but I have to add that I first uninstalled the "Jeff" after today's HF2 and then I did a fresh reinstallation.

It is legit. They have done it, finally!:D Thrustmaster starts the pre-order cycle today on June 7, 2019. It will be available through their Thrustmaster e-shop. Commercial availability starts from July 25, 2019. Retail price will be around 179,99£. This is for the grip, only. The throttle was not mentioned anywhere as far as I am aware. As a source check the news section on Thrustmaster's homepage. Will be an instant buy for me as soon as it is available in e-shop, today.

DCS MiG-19P Preliminary changelog for the next OB update
Tango3B replied to OverStratos's topic in MiG-19 Farmer B
Sounds great, guys! I am very pleased to see that even the ASP-5N sight angle depression is finally getting fixed. Keep up the improvement. -
Has anyone hit anything with an AIM-54 yet ?
Tango3B replied to Extranajero's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Do you fly singleplayer or multiplayer? If you fly multiplayer you will find many guys that fly very low and have developped a certain skill how and when to beam/notch an incoming AIM-54. Therefore these guys might be able to evade a good amount of your missiles if they use terrain and geometry to their advantage. In this case it is not really your "fault". A proper solution to your problem might be to shoot at these guys over flat terrain that has little cover to hide behind and to position yourself accordingly. I do not know how experienced you are with BVR tactics, however so I hope that helps. -
Exactly! It is absolutely fine if there is no patch for the F/A-18 this week. Most oft us certainly do understand programming rather complex software takes time. The problem is on a more global level, though. Some DCS modules are in desperate need for an update. Tomcat users have frequent DCS crashes and want them fixed asap, for example. And this is perfectly understandable, isn't it? Many people here simply asked for clarification. Is there a patch this week, or isn't there? Rather snappish answers (without need) from ED officials like that by GGTharos are not helpful and rather unprofessional considering the fact that communication on progress was for whatever reason severely lacking, recently. Being idiosyncratic and snappy is certainly not the best advertisement for a company when it comes to customer communication. So, please let us get back to a more professional level and show the appropriate respect for each other, shall we?

Dear Razbam Team, the following issues were already reported as a bug within one week after lauch of the MiG-19P but they are still present in DCS OB so I will discuss them here: 1.) The ASP-5 Bomb Mil Deflection setting still does nothing. The sight reticle should move downwards when in Optic/Bomb/Caged mode and a manual entered sight depression angle is selected with the associated rotary knob. (Dive-) Bombing and rocket shooting worked exactly this way with all early ASP sights except the ASP-21 which had limited automatic modes for rocket and gun shooting but manual values could still be entered by the pilot. Again, the ASP-5 has no such automatic mode capability. The implementation of DCS MiG-21bis and DCS L-39C/ZA ASP gunsights show how this concept works in case you guys at Razbam need some visual impressions... 2.) The RP-5 Radar Screen Mode Switch still works the other way round. Present from day one and still unadressed. 3.) The Bomb Pickle Button (you guys labelled it this way) does not pickle the bomb at the moment!!! The Gun Trigger does, however. This is a bug, obviously. My question is when can we expect to see a solution for the above? The ASP-5 is basically useless in AG operation at the moment. These are minor issues and the module is already on the market for some months. So, please do something about that in the near future.
-
Shouldn´t the ASP-5 sight reticle move downwards if a certain angle depression is selected by the associated rotary wheel? That is the sense behind the system for shooting rockets or dropping bombs. Just like in the MiG-21 or the L-39, for example. However, during a short AG training mission I just noted it does not move at all which is obviously a bug or the system is not properly implemented.

ATC inaudible on Persian Gulf map & cannon status lights (closed)
Tango3B replied to Tango3B's topic in Resolved Bugs
I did that and I do know how the radio system works. There is simply no ATC audio on the PG map for me. As I said, it is fine on all other maps. Are you arctually able to hear ATC audio on the PG map? Did you test it? -
Similar system as in the MiG-15 or the MiG-21. The sound is pretty much default at the moment. This simply has to be added for a credible full fidelity module. By the way: I found there is also no sound when the cannon are being pneumatically loaded. There should be something similar to the MiG-15's cannon loading sound.
-
As the title says the ATC communication on the Persian Gulf map does not work quite right. One can read the ATC instructions but there is absolutely no ATC audio. It works fine on all other maps, though. Please investigate that issue, Razbam. Also, I found that the cannon status lights above the ammo counter stay illuminated even after the engines are shut down and all electrical power is disconnected from the aircraft. To my knowledge it is also wrong that these lights stay on after the two gun arming switches on the right cockpit wall are set to their off position. Please investigate and confirm the above, Razbam.
