They said in another thread a few weeks ago that the next update will be around January.

I was shocked to first read that the F-15E was "months" away and the OCT update confirmed my suspicions. Based upon its' currnt state as outlined in the video, I wouldn't expect a release until 2020. Maybe late 2019 if they plan on a feature-minimum early access release.

True, especially for the early-late 1980's. My understanding is that the Soviets invested heavily in short-medium range SAMs, SPAAGs and MANPADs to cover the FLOT and deny NATO air supremacy. Soviet fighters, with the exception of Su-27s, primarily covered operational and strategic depth behind the Soviet FLOT to counter NATO interdiction strikes. Compare that to NATO, which with a few exceptions had relatively poor short range SAM/SPAAG coverage of their FLOT, relying more on gaining air superiority through use of their fighters and specialized SEAD aircraft to counter the SAM threat. The point being, the MIG-23 and early MIG-29s were not meant to go toe to toe with NATO air superiorty fighters. They were designed to counter NATO interdiction aircraft through GCI and provide limited escort for Warsaw Pact aircraft striking the NATO FLOT.

Everything else not listed. :lol: Seriously though, my understanding is the Mig-19 will be released this year and feature complete... so I'm more interested in seeing WIP videos at this point than a list of what's complete (especially since we don't have a list of total features IOT determine percentage of completeness). They showed the livery for the Harrier late in development too. Once you see a livery on it, you'll know release is close.

It's a video game. There are no ethical dilemmas with adding nukes. I'm in favor as it adds an additional gameplay perspective for those who choose to use it.

That was fast. Like I said before, if you are REALLY serious about making this into a legitimate business and going 3rd party, start with something simple to learn on. Fieseler Fi 156 Storch (WWII), Cessna 152 (civilian), Polikarpov Po-2 (WWII/Korea), a little more challenging would be F-100 (1950's). Don't try to jump into the 3rd/4th generation jets unless you AND YOUR TEAM are 100% committed to the long haul and you have the financial resources available for a long dev cycle. Look at Heatblur's F14, that's the standard people will now expect if you plan on selling your modules.

I applaud your enthusiasm, however, I caution you of the following: 1) An aircraft of this significance will probably be done by a 3rd party at some point. You run the risk of being 2yrs into this project and then finding out your effort was wasted when a 3rd part announces a Tornado. I reccomend you re-evaluate your aircraft and aim for something less likely to be sought by an already established 3rd party (F100, F104, SU17, etc). 2) I see you just joined the forum, so I don't know how long you've been here, but take a look and the TU-22 and Blackburn Buccaneer threads. I'm sure there are many more, but those two will show you how most full aircraft mods end (graveyard). I reccomend picking something simpler and trying for that. Look at the A1. They've been at it for years and are just getting ready for release. Good luck and hopefully you have the willpower and endurance to last to a full release.

Congrats on your F14 announcement. It looks like you're going to set a new standard for DCS. One thing I didn't see mentioned is the Forrestal. How is that coming along and can we expect it at release or will it come later in EA? Thanks.

Countdown to official unveiling (aka: no more chromecat) and announcement of pre-orders. Stretch hope for me is a release date as well.

HARM then Harpoon (insert required A/G radar with Harpoon). This gives the Hornet new capabilities as SEAD and adds another anti-ship platform to DCS. Also, it will be the only anti-ship platform native to Persian Gulf.

Then just set it as realistic as possible, with no changes for "gameplay" or "fun", and leave it at that!

Many wish it would, however, the dev team (I refuse to call them simply a mod team) would have to form a business and enter into a business relationship with ED. Now enters all the complexity and legal mumbo-jumbo of running a business. The player side of me wished ED would just give these guys 3rd party status and let them make this a free addition to DCS world. The pragmatic side of me understands that if ED lets them add a full fidelity module for free to DCS, it will undercut their profits.

I want to buy the Viggen while it's on a very generous flash sale, but I'm not sure it will work since I currently only use DCS version 1.5.8. My laptop is way under-spec for 2.0 (I've tried) and the DCS version I use is the one which works best on my laptop. If I buy the Viggen today, will it download the correct version to work with DCS 1.5.8? I understand I will not be getting the most updated Viggen module. Thanks.

SA-2 and Rapier SAMs are on the way from ED. I imagine more PG-type units will be done by ED over time. Check out the mods section too. If you fly single player, there are a host of good things already made (ships, TEL-mounted Scuds which fire, etc).

In a shooting war vs. Iran, a U.S. carrier wouldn't be in the Gulf at all until air superiorty is achieved and complete neutralization of Iranian navy/costal missile batteries is complete. It's too precious an asset to risk in such confined waters during a war. During the Iraq wars, US carriers were in the Gulf, but the threat was much less than Iran with all that Gulf coastline.

Nothing. Check the Internet/mods section for user made skins and download if you find one you want. Don't expect ED to make one with the swastika for the reasons mentioned above. If you can't find one you like, post in the Mods section of this forum and request what you want. There are people here who REALLY enjoy making skins and might make one you ask (nicely) for. :thumbup:
