  1. Awesome stuff! Thanks for the link! Getting lost with Jester in the RIO seat will be next to impossible :)
  2. I disagree with the OP. Yes the Spitfire is at a disadvantage if you insist on taking the fight on the Bf109K's terms, but that is how it was in real life as well. So Im not sure what the OP really wants? It seems he wants to play a balanced game, and not a simulation. If that's what he wants then there are plenty of games like that out there, but DCS definitely is not one of them and I hope never will be.
  3. My "hope" is that they will consider building a release candidate build on the day that they complete the RIO cockpit artwork. Whenever that is. I do know they are hard at work though, I think no one wants to release the Tomcat more than they do. I say "hope" because in the update today Cobra mentioned several other release blocking "issues" though from where I stand NONE of the others are blocking issues in my opinion.
  4. Great update, so thanks for that Cobra. On another note Im a little bit sad that LANTIRN is one of the "blocking" systems that can potentially hold up the release of this great bird, as IMO it is not something that is essential for early access enjoyment. Just look at the state Hornet was released at, and how many essential systems are still missing from the current build (such as TWS and HARM to name but two examples though there are many more) but that still doesn't change the fact that many are enjoying the EA of the Hornet. Like a few in this thread already noted you can't please everyone but Heatblur is certainly trying to do so and this is certainly deserving of praise, however I do hope that in so doing they don't inadvertently end up delaying the release for far too long, and displeasing all. With all of that said I wish them all the best, and I have the absolute confidence that this is already the best module in DCS even though it is still in Alpha and still out of our grubby little hands. I will (pre)order on the day that the release date is announced, of that you can be sure.
  5. Really nice landing. Im really impressed with how little you used the throttle on finals. I seem to always have to put in quite a bit of power at the end to prevent the Mig29 from dropping like a stone. And if I go below 300 km/h before the threshold it usually always ends in disaster.
  6. Yes, was confirmed a while ago. Still a very long way off though.
  7. What is the camera's white balance or it's exposition when taking pictures or video of the afterburners? You can't please everyone (it seems anyone) on these forums, the module is not even in early access and people are complaining about something that is extremely subjective and won't even be on the screen most of the time you are flying in the F14.
  8. Why do we have to see those? All of those take time to produce, time that could be spent polishing those very same systems. You can't infer a release date from marketing videos. Oh and by the way we saw the module in a very exciting (and very combat capable) stream/video just the other week.
  9. Mkay hit the nail on the head with his post. Also, many chose (including the OP) to ignore the second part of Cobra's statement "barring unforseen circumstances", which is exactly what happened. Now I don't claim to know what those were but I have a very good idea (that could still be wrong). I think the F14 was probably going to drop late 2017 early 2018, in a similar state to how the Hornet dropped. Then ED suddenly decided to start up the F18 hype train, and Heatblur chose to postpone the Tomcat and bring it to a much higher level of completion and polish so as not to compete with the Hornet. (I don't think this is a conspiracy theory, it is a mutually beneficent scenario as most people would buy both modules in that case) Now this is all speculation and could be completely wrong, but for whatever reason the Tomcat WAS delayed, that is a fact and we all just have to deal with it.
  10. Also features one of the best FFB models I've ever experienced in any sim. Highly recommended for pure flying fun.
  11. How do you explain to someone how to perform valid experiments to someone who has little to no knowledge of the scientific method and no experience in the lab? That is what this thread should be renamed to ;)
  12. Good stuff! Jester will definitely make things a whole lot easier for newbie pilots and IMO that's a very good thing.
  13. From what I've seen the F14 will probably raise the bar so high even ED will have a hard time making a module as great as that. Disclaimer: Im a huge Tomcat fanboy, have been ever since I was a little kid, IMO it's the most beautiful combat aircraft ever made, so take what I say with a few grains of salt ;)
  14. Apart from the centering effect? None at all. But some stick vibration at edge of envelope conditions (when the cockpit vibrates) would be quite useful, not to mention immersive.
  15. Any updates on this @Cobra? Will there be any force feedback support (even just a centering force) in the initial release? Thank you in advance!
  16. Im sorry but where did I where did I "troll" exactly? I provided a rebuttal of the criticisms thrown about here, but I am called a troll for doing that? My opinion is as valid as your is and if you disagree with that, that's fine too but please refrain from throwing around insults. As for the "time" argument, have you ever produced a video of any kind in your life? Well I have, several in fact. I can tell you that it's much, much more time intensive than recording a stream even if very little post production is done, not to mention scripting, narration, voice-overs, etc. Im sure that Heatblur will probably do something along those lines at some point when they feel that their module is ready and when they have the time to do so.
  17. I wouldn't mind seeing a Hercules in DCS, in any variant, however I do take exception to one thing the OP wrote. Pre-orders to fund development. That is simply just wrong. I won't name any names but we've already had at least one third party that I know of that took money for DCS modules that very likely will never see the light of day. This is not the right way to go about it, and I feel a good number of DCS customers are already turned off by any such scheme. If a developer lacks funds for development there are other options out there, donations, kickstarters, creditors, publishers etc.
  18. This was awesome! Oh as regards the complaints, HB have enough on their plate just getting the first of the Cats out the door. They are still a small team, and producing a video with editing, narration, etc. is just too time intensive. Im thankful we even got this little tidbit, TBH I wasn't expecting anything at all before early access.
  19. Ok this is like the best thing in DCS ever. Nice suggestion.
  20. I don't get it. How often has Steam had a concurrent DCS early access release of a module? I don't own any Steam DCS modules, all of mine have been purchased through the ED store but I would wager a guess that the answer is never.
  21. Very interesting. Steam releases usually come quite a bit later than early access releases so I take that date as a good sign. Though it's probably a placeholder and subject to change
  22. I think chaff is greatly over-estimated by most virtual pilots. Proper implemetation of electronic warfare in DCS would also mean proper countermeasure rejection protocols and algorithms in the more modern missiles that we fly with. This is data that is probably very hard if not impossible to get so I think it's something that will not be implemented any time soon.
  23. Exactly this. I have a number of games that are more demanding than DCS World 2.0 installed on my PC at this exact moment. One of them is even a hugely popular AAA title released a couple of weeks ago that I won't mention by name, but even though it's playable on my PC it actually runs much worse than DCS World.
  24. This might be a sensitive question Cobra, so you don't have to answer but will we hear about it if something major comes up and the early access gets delayed into the New Year? Im asking because honestly I still have not pre-ordered as I make it a point NOT to preorder any early access module (or even game) if there is not a set release date. Im not saying I won't preorder, because this is my dream module, and as soon as you set a date you will get my cash, its just a matter of personal principle. Since it's (hopefully) a December release cash is gonna be tight, considering Christmas, presents etc. so it would be useful to know in advance whether I can spend the F14 money on something else.
  25. Then that's a tournament rule, and would be pretty easy to enforce without any additional coding in the game. People have to sign up for tournaments remember, so it's as simple as only allowing people to sign up as a two man crew. The only justified way for this code to be added or included is as a server side option for regular open or closed multiplayer servers, and in my opinion that would invalidate the whole point of flying in this beautiful plane when you don't have a team mate.
