  1. Quoted for good measure! Thanks Cobra, I really, really hope you guys are getting close!
  2. What Brainless said. The size and weight of a particular ordanance is another limit that you have to take into consideration. Also the F14 can carry a maximum of 6 Phoenix missiles (not 4) as well as 2 sidewinders at the same time.
  3. Completely agree with everything you wrote in your post above but I had to quote this little tidbit simply because even when we get the F14 into our hands there will still be people who will whine and complain on the forums because the F14 doesn't fall in line with their expectations of what the module should fly and play like. The worst part is that it's usually the operator who is at fault, and not the module. It's like that with every single module ever released for DCS and unfortunately the F14 won't be an exception. We live in an internet age, where most people can't get past their ego and their self-importance (at least when it concerns their online personas) and always believe they are in the right, even when presented with evidence to the contrary. I for one can't wait. It's going to take me a long time to get proficient with the F14 and all of it's systems and that is a journey Im going to enjoy more than any other in DCS so far.
  4. There is so much wrong with this post it isn't even funny.
  5. Good post. I agree that Magz got this part wrong.
  6. Great shot. I couldn't care less if the afterburners were blue, purple or pink, just want to fly the Cat as soon as possible ;)
  7. Okay managed to find Blacklion213's post on this. . Here is the relevant part of the quote: Yeah launching with the ACM boresight mode within 10nm is going to be crazy scary.
  8. I think Nick (BlackLion) mentioned that there was a way to launch the Phoenix so it burns directly off the rail (without the drop off) and so it doesn't loft. This could help with close range shots. Did you manage to see or test any of that Jabbers?
  9. Part II! Nice! Thank you Jabbers, keep em coming!
  10. I don't understand this question? What seems to be the problem?
  11. I think the smokeless C variant is going to be the really scary one really. Both A models can be seen from really far away, so if you're aware you will be able to know the missile is coming even from a TWS launch. However with the C you will have no idea until you get the RWR signal when the missile goes pitbul.
  12. What time is it? :smilewink:
  13. Nice stream Ralfi! Didn't manage to catch it live, but that doesn't matter. Would have loved to have seen TWS Phoenix launches but hey you can't have everything. ;) All in all great stuff. Very impressed with the module already.
  14. The only thing they can possibly be blamed for is a bit of feature creep. Things like the "LANTIRN" which were initially not supposed to even be included at launch or were coming only deep into EA. And even that is understandable because if they released the F14 in the state the F18 was in at launch they would still get flak. So either way they get flak. Launch late but more feature complete, shots fired. Launch early, with lots of features missing or incomplete. Shots fired. They chose the former.
  15. Thank you for the reply. Good to know
  16. What about roll rate? With wings folded back apparently the F14's roll rate is quite insane, how is it with wings extended as I assume they would be in a slow-ish speed BFM?
  17. Yes, thats true but it's just much easier with a FFB stick. That is if FFB support has been properly implemented. Knowing you're riding right on the edge of the envelope just from the feel of the stick without looking at the HUD or a single gauge in the cockpit is one of the reasons I keep flying in DCS. While I do enjoy the FBW jets, the modules I keep coming back to are the ones that give me that ability. One of HB's developers actually stated that they now have a MSSFB2 joystick in house, so I believe FFB support is coming, probably not at EA but at some point. Im quite stoked for that. :joystick:
  18. Apparently the F14 uses bob-weights to provide a counterforce to pulling on the stick in relation to the g forces acting on the airframe, maybe the F5 has something similar?
  19. I voted no. The business model for DCS is best the way it is, since new players can try the free map + modules and then decide whether they like it enough to stick with it and invest money into other modules. It works for Eagle Dynamics, and it's great for the community. Putting up just another arbitrary paywall would anger a chunk of the community who have already invested hunderds of dollars or euros into DCS, and would do nothing to speed up or improve the pace of development anyway.
  20. There is when people keep claiming that's the reason why the Tomcat is nowhere close to being released, despite repeated comments from Cobra and Heatblur (and videos) to the contrary.
  21. And yet the F18 is STILL missing more functionality than the F14 will be released with at EA launch.
  22. One other thing to consider. Another pair of eyes in the backseat to help you keep tabs on what's what.
  23. Thanks for the reply Grover! That's reassuring :)
  24. Is Jester smart enough to change the selection of CMS based on the threats we're facing or do we have to use the Jester "wheel" to issue commands for him to change these?
