** DCS-F14 PRE-ORDER NOW AVAILABLE! Gameplay Reveal Video Update **
OnlyforDCS replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
AFAIK the bonus system doesn't apply to MOST early access products. So the answer is probably no, it won't. You will have to wait quite a while before you will be able to use the bonus system for this module. (Please correct me if Im wrong) -
Unfortunately I don't think so. We will probably get a simple centering stick force, thats it. The Mig29 with the PFM as well as the Su27 have some really subtle ffb effects at edge of envelope regimes that would probably work great in the F14 as well, but I think unless the devs get a force feedback stick its all wishful thinking on our part.

No he can't. The F14 absolutely requires a two-man crew. There is no way to operate the radar and a few other systems from the front seat.

Fulcrum hopping on landing like a rabbit...
OnlyforDCS replied to Ragnar65's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
I had some trouble too with landing the bird, but I've been practicing and am happy to say its starting to click. One thing thats pretty important, that probad mentioned is your sink rate. Basically you want to hit about 300 kph over the treshold with an AoA of about 9-10 degrees. If youre too slow you will hit hard and you will bounce and trash your tires. If youre too fast you will overshoot and have a really hard time slowing down if you manage to bring it down in one piece. Weight is very important. Make sure you've dropped all your weapons (if you haven't used them) and external fuel tanks before landing. Either that or make sure that you are below 10% fuel. Once you get the AoA and speed right your sink rate should be fine if youre light enough. And if its not you can adjust it with the throttle. When you touch down don't push the stick forward or you will gain lift and take off again. Allow your nose to come down naturally and as soon as its down release your chute and apply brakes below 200kph. Thats about it. Don't give up, once it starts clicking it will all become natural :) -
I can't believe that no one at Heablur owns a MSFFB2 (they've mentioned it a few times). Now that I've seen how well support for it is implemented in the Mig29 PFM Im sad that we probably won't get this level of support for our force feedback sticks with the F14 :(

At the latest end of this year's Winter. (North Hemisphere). Cobra said they are aiming for a 2018 release, but they are giving themselves some leeway if anything untoward should happen, and they don't want to shoot themselves in the foot (again). In any case Heatblur will provide an exact date, at some point before release.

It's possible to mount wing tanks on this thing? Hmmm, might be a real option for multiplayer since this thing drinks like there is no tomorrow...

They won't show videos until they finalize things like the start-up sequence, correct switchology and symbology, correct cockpit for the corrected airframe etc. etc. People have already nitpicked the very scant few things we were shown in the reveal trailer. So I don't believe that we will see anything until its very close to release :)

Thank you!

Shame you didn't leave your controls indicator on there (ALT+ENTER) would have loved to see what you were doing with the stick and throttle during some parts of those landings. Im really struggling.
-
What msvgas said. Also it needs a fairly hard pull (just be careful to bring it back in when the nose lifts off) and from what Ive seen you were barely pulling on that stick.
-
Well considering that the F14 was supposed to be released BEFORE the F18, and the state of the F18 at its EA release (or its current state), Id say that Heatblur is sitting pretty right now. If they released tomorrow we would probably have a more complete module right now than what the F18 is at right now, Im guessing they are taking their time to complete the module and do a lot of polish (that most devs, including Eagle Dynamics) leave for much later during early access.
-
Is it on or off by default?
-
Good stuff. Thanks Yo-Yo. I really need to practice, practice, practice. Im still having difficulty hitting the right AoA and speed on approach and balancing that out with a low enough sink rate. Oh well, more touch and go's for me :)

DCS last Update: Big problem !!!
OnlyforDCS replied to FistofZen's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Read the Nineline's posts on this. A rollback is not possible, as this will be the base default setup going forward. -
Missing MiG-29 Quick Start Missions from Update

Nope not there. The drive letters won't show for me. :( I can post a screenshot if you like. -
DCS last Update: Big problem !!!
OnlyforDCS replied to FistofZen's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
When this happens (and I hope it will eventually, rebinding the same commonly used axis, buttons, etc. accross all modules is a pain) I have a feeling another clean config "wipe" like this will be needed once again. -
Missing MiG-29 Quick Start Missions from Update
OnlyforDCS replied to NineLine's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
For some reason the My Missions tab in the game only looks at my C: Drive and USER subdirectory etc, I can't point it to my SSD where I have DCS World installed. So, yeah thats a no go for me. -
Aha, okay. Will give it a go thanks!

You can't really do that. At how many frames per second does the blackshark's HUD update? At how many frames per second was that filmed? There are sure to be frames dropped here and there in the footage even if it was filmed at a higher FPS than the hud updates (which I bet it wasn't). No, the only way you can get these things right is to actually have the official document where it states the HUD refresh rate, and then replicate that. You can't rely on footage as its not consistent or accurate. In any case Heatblur have stated that this is what they have done and that it's replicated correctly.

Ok finally managed to get it down in one piece. It only took me about 20 tries, the trick was as many here mentioned to be at about 290kph max, trimmed out, and to add power at the very last second to keep from smashing into the ground. But i discovered another problem. The parachute won't deploy. I keep pressing "p" to no avail. THe result was that I almost ran out of runway. Maybe its the mission? Is there something else to press other than "p" for the parachute do deploy? Please note Im using the quickstart landing mission with the the Mig29A.

Care to explain how? Whenever I get on the landing speed, full landing flaps out, I seem to drop out of the sky. I understand that its a matter of experience, but when no one can show you then how do you learn?

Now we're talking! Very interesting, thanks! :)
