  1. In theory the release version should be "mostly" bug free. In practice unfortunately this is usually not the case, so there is no real reason not to stay on the open beta install especially if you want access to the latest updates and beta modules.
  2. The problem with these long range, strategic bombers is that there is simply no way for them to be effective in theaters as small as DCS. ED have I believe already mentioned (unofficially) that there is very little point in including large long range aircraft into this sim. I believe if a third party or ED does go for a multi-engine, large body aircraft it's a good bet that its going be some kind of multi-purpose utility/close air support aircraft such a variant of the Hercules C-130. Like with the Heli's that we have in the game that thing can fulfill a lot of roles, and could be used effectively both online and in single-player scenarios.
  3. It's not out yet, but the F14. Yeah, if I HAD to make that choice, that would be it. Sorry.
  4. Stop dude, just stop. We all get that the US has the biggest and most modern military in the world, but you're coming off as a warmonger, and that has no place on these forums.
  5. The airplanes dissapear too easily into the ground clutter when merged. This is close range. Regardless of how spotting works at range, it shouldn't be this hard keeping track of a bogey when you are merged with them. Now that we have a unified 2.5.X version of DCS for the forseeable future, ED should really dedicate some resources to solving this issue once and for all.
  6. No. Unless we get a new module in the sim that carries them.
  7. I don't think thats the point of this thread ;) There are obviously quite a few Iranian virtual pilots who would like to see their version of this beautiful bird in the sim.
  8. Anyone with a MSFFB2 joystick flying the Hornet? (I've yet to buy it, gonna wait for more features before jumping in, also waiting for the F14) The reason why I ask is because of what Flamin_Squirrel wrote about how the real F18 stick behaves (11.1.5 Stick Force) and Im wondering if that's simulated with force feedback in our sim? That would be really cool if the forces were significantly stiffer once you reached critical AoA, like in the real plane.
  9. Read the OP. It's some sort of "unveiling". That's all we know.
  10. Of all the planes you mentioned there, Eagle Dynamics only developed the Mig-15. The Mig-21 was developed by Leatherneck at a time when the current licence owners and the Russian government were much more open about these sorts of things. You also have to take into account that the Mig21 bis was developed based on the real world knowlege (and documentation) from one of their developers who was/is an active duty pilot in Serbia. One of the few countries today that still operate the plane. Russia no longer does. Its pointless to talk about airframes which are still in development, since they might never see the light of day. Zhukov is correct on all accounts here, and this was all confirmed at least unofficially by ED. Unfortunately we will not see any modern active duty RED airframes in the future any time soon. This has nothing to do with how profitable or popular these modules are compared to their western counterparts, but more with laws and regulations in the country of origin of these fighter designs. Even if permission is granted, ED still has to get relevant documentation to get to a level of simulation which they would be happy with, and this too could also be extremely problematic from a security point of view, as holding onto some of these documents could be considered illegal.
  11. You've already had an answer to that question in the other thread. It's not like you're new at DCS or the forums, you know how these things work. So why force the issue? It's only going to get you into trouble here on the forums.
  12. Awesome. Thanks for the reply!
  13. Which Windows? Because I have a feeling youre talking about Windows10. This is typical of the new OS, taking away user choice, and one of the reasons why I refuse to switch to it.
  14. I can answer that. You're not going to find any more time for the hornet.
  15. A question for anyone at Heatblur, really appreciate it if you could answer this one! (I know you guys are in crunch time now, so I won't hold it against you if you don't) When changing between seats (in multicrew or even singleplayer) will we be able to use the same controller to control the flight stick, as well as the RIO stick, or will they have to be two seperate independent controllers? I.E. Can we double bind our joystick and it's buttons for use in the front as well as in the back seat?
  16. A reveal of some sort. If I were a betting man, Id put down money it's a gameplay video of the F14 without its "chromecat" skin and other placeholder assets and art. Id put longer odds on an actual EA release date being revealed at that point, but it's something I personally am hoping for.
  17. I think you're gonna have to settle for the F14A once it hits, and the Iranian airforce skin. These brilliant guys have their hands full just getting the B out the door. On the bright side, the A should be a more capable variant of the AM version.
  18. Not even when the whole airframe shakes?
  19. Are we at least getting a centering force so we don't have to fly with "floppy" sticks? I mean there is third party software which can do this, but Id rather not be running extra background processes while running DCS, we all know how resource hungry it is ;) Also It doesn't have to be 100% realistic. Just something to provide more immersion. Even something like the stick starting to vibrate at edge of envelope conditions (just before the visual airframe shake cues) could go a long way towards providing a very immersive sensory cue.
  20. @Koriel: I feel your pain. The F14 is literally my dream module. I swear, I actually dream of flying this plane in DCS. With that said the devs are communicating in what is considered today a standard industry approach. Whether you or I like or dislike it, it's how things are done today. Marketing and sales figures prove it.
  21. Another FFB joystick user here. This is a good question. FFB2 sort of works in the Mig21 (haven't tried the Viggen yet) but I hope they will add in at least some more effects at least in edge of envelope/stall conditions for the F14.
  22. This is exactly what Im talking about. Who said anything about there being a stream?
  23. You're not wrong. A "reveal" is promised for Oct 7th. Nothing else. Though why developers and publishers ever hold announcements for announcements I will never understand. It's just needless hype, and leads to confusions of this type. If I had to hazzard a guess I think it will probably be a video of our favorite bird losing it's chromecat skin, and placeholder textures. My most optimistic hope is that on that date they announce an early-access launch date, and maybe even open up pre-orders on ED's DCS page. (Or the other way around, with the precedent set by the Hornet of allowing pre-orders with no set release date.)
  24. Ahh, ok thank you.
