And a second track. I guess transfer complete again due to bad maneuvering pitch change with power changes are bad for me only having a short T16000 stick with a bit of a wiggle in the center. This time I got just a hissing ICS sound and no Jester reaction anymore at the end. So not Jester freaking out, but not more cooperating with me. Even changing waypoint or UHF frequency didn't work after separating from the tanker. Thanks for checking. 20240619_F-4E_AAR_2_hissing_ICS_no_jester_reaction.trk

Jester not freaking out this time, but getting transfer complete message from tanker well below full internal reached. Airstart with ext. empty tanks and only about 5200lbs internal fuel. For jester freaking out I only have a 15MB track. I guess, this would not be helpful. edit: Please don't comment my bad flying keeping formation 20240619_F-4E_AAR.trk

As seen in the screenshot, I got the transfer complete message. externals were full, was disconnected and down to 11000lbs internal. Topped of internal fuel and got the message. Can't say, If it will work when you stay connected the whole time. I'm not that good in keeping the right spot for that amount of time needed. The tanker lights being a bit dim doesn't help either. Would be nice to have such an overlay like the carrier landing lights meatball.

For me it finally worked... I will not show you the debriefing refuel history "refuel - refuel stop" amount of messages until this picture was made Jester also totally freaked out telling me directions to the tanker after refueling was completed (known issue, as far as I understand). Had to silence Jester until approach.

Update on this. Need to be really patient. That last part of filling externals is really slow. Saw the lights on two occasions now. Everything fine in this regard. Also that disconnect without disengage light and re-connect of the tanker without saying that transfer starts got me several times... Holding position is really hard drogue and basket in the F-14 is sooo much easier. Concerning the AI being on top of each other. Didn't saw this happen today and have no idea how to reproduce to create a track.
-
Okay, thanks. Changed the AI in the mission after this incident to ignore the tanker.
-
I also had several instances when tanker disconnects but never said transfer complete. Got it only once when cycling the AAR door and a short last disconnect. Also never saw the ext tanks full lights during AAR. Will create simple mission and try again. AI is also doing weird things. Pair of AI F-4Es joining with the tanker close... Eventually, pilots of one plane ejected and the second was connected to the tanker more than 15 minutes. I guess I better should create a separate report and try to recreat this in a simple mission for a better trackfile.

Check that the engine inlet cone system is in automatic mode (center panel). Being in overspeed mode and faster M1.4 you can go out of AB, but don't decrease throttle below military. Once speed get's below M1.4, the overspeed mode will end and you can than throttle further back out of MIL.

Feedback Thread - F-4E Phantom II Release Hotfix, June 5th 2024
gulredrel replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
What an extensive list. Thanks for the support. Haven't had the opportunity to try out all the gimmicks and it's getting better. -
It's the Airwolf cave... you need to go straight up through the chimney.

"If the runway was bread, you were the butter..." LMAO And this in Incirlik with it's sloped down RW23. Anyone noticed Jester calling ghost contacts above airfields where non active, static or landed AI aircraft are parked?! Or is it just radar smudges because of bad weather (multiple broken layers) Got his the second time now. Forgot to save the track. Will do next time. -

Worked for me in single player. Maybe it's not supposed to work in multiplayer?!

[No Bug] Jester can visual ID targets at 10 nm?
gulredrel replied to gulredrel's topic in Bugs & Problems
Thanks Cobra for the quick reply. I now got a call for 13 nm for the Il-76 after locking it. null Looking on a 2D screen it's way harder. Must say, real life you could identify a passenger plane at 10000m(?) with no problem from the ground. But this would translate to 6 nm(?). Maybe 10 to 13 nm is a bit far? No big deal and maybe something to discuss with SMEs or real world pilots later. Haven't tried with smaller planes yet. -
Hello, don't know if this is a known issue or intended. I noticed for the second time that F-4 Jester can visual ID targets at about 10 nm. As the current F-4 does not have the TISEO(?) camera I don't think he should be able to tell the type of plane at about 10 nm. Or could you spot an Il-76 at 10 nm distance? Thanks Jens

KRAP I keep burning out hot starting engine on cold start
gulredrel replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
Yeah, Don't hold the start switch for too long. I usually hold it for two potatoes and wait for going to idle when needle reaches 600 rpm. I think it's better to have some more rpm instead of less or minimum. -
Wow, different chute colors depending on livery?! Great. and this is cool:

What a phantastic aircraft. Did my first longer flights this weekend. After having too hard touchdowns and Jester thought we would need to request a new landing gear, the third landing was smooth and Jester praised me Did some AIM-7 and AIM-9 shooting against some IL-76s. Radar screen is looking awesome. Bad against the ground clutter but really nice when looking up. -
when you just want to click the engine master switch and catch the chute release clickspot...

I got mine about 15 years ago from an ebay auction. This was a lot cheaper than the ones offered on the store linked above. One of the electrical connection pins for the clock heating is missing, but I don't want my office to be that cold that I would need the clock heating function. I made the standing frame out of plywood myself.
